Your Third Eye - Why and How To Open It

Your Third Eye - Why and How To Open It

It is believed that through the evolution of the human race to its current state of high stress consumers that the ability for us to use our third eye was lost. However, rather than be lost to us forever the third eye remains with all of us - closed and dormant from disuse.

Though not a physical part of our bodies, the third eye is located above the eyebrows and is connected to the pituitary (or pineal) glands. These glands are not fully understood but are believed to assist with the regulation of sleep and hormones. An interesting fact given that the third eye is associated with ‘awakening’.

Across the globe and time, the third eye has amassed many names. In the Hindu belief, the third eye is known as the 6th Chakra which corresponds with our mental abilities, psychological skills, and how we evaluate beliefs and attitudes. The third eye is also known as the Brow Chakra and Anja Chakra. Whatever the name, all faiths and cultures appear to share the belief that the third eye heightens a person’s intuition and can be strengthened with practice and focus.

Why Open Your Third Eye

Some people feel strongly drawn to their third eye as if something is missing from their being. For others, it is mere curiosity or a hunger for, what they perceive to be, an opportunity to gain greater power with enhanced awakening.

“Consider your motives carefully before opening your third eye. Extra intuition does not always bring the changes to our lives that we expect and can open us up to negative energies as well as the positive energies we seek.” Says, Honor Parker a spiritual writer at Writinity and Last Minute Writing.

A common misconception of the third eye is that it somehow gives closure or peace to anyone that opens it, allowing them to better understand and cope with the negativities that surround us. This is unfortunately not true.

The third eye is thought to be one that, when opened, enhances psychic ability. It is, in some ways, an extra sense. If opened, it will enhance your intuition and the environment around you in its whole. Smell, hearing, and energy vibrations and more become highly sensitized with the third eye opened. What is essential to understand is that in opening your third eye you are beginning something that cannot be stopped. The third eye can not be closed again. When opened, your third eye will require management and training in order to not overwhelm you.

How To Open Your Third Eye

If you are convinced that opening your third eye is a journey that you want to begin on then do so with caution and patience. No two experiences of opening the third eye are the same - our chakra powers are personal to us as individual beings. You must be prepared for unexpected side effects.

There are several methods touted as the right way to open your third eye. We will look at the most used and successful method, meditation.

Meditating to open your third eye has a different focus to any daily meditation practice you might already have. Similarities to maintain include finding a peaceful space and time to practice the meditation. Opening your third eye will take time, aim for consistency and quality in your practice and lifestyle for optimum success. Approach your goal from a holistic point of view. Your lifestyle, including your diet, should reflect your commitment to opening your eye and accepting the intuition and affects it brings.

Crystals can be helpful to support the energy around you and enhance your daily mediation practice for the third eye. Moonstone and clear quartz are considered to be the most suitable, but you might like to experiment for your personal preference. Other crystals to consider are amethyst, lolite and moldavite.

“I personally believe that essential oils can be helpful for tuning the third eye,” Says Jean Bennet a meditation blogger at Draft Beyond and Researchpapersuk. “Often overlooked as too ordinary, Peppermint is actually one of the most helpful for inspiration and insights.”

Whatever your motive for opening your third eye, do so with caution and patience. Seek guidance fro gurus in your community if you experience side effects that are unexpected or difficult to manage, Overall, go in peace and faith.
