Celtic Mythology
One of the most captivating myths in Europe, Celtic mythology is full with adventure, courage, romance, and magic. The Celts were originally a sizable and strong people who controlled most of Europe, but following the Roman invasions they were reduced to a few small groupings. However, their mythology has persisted, partly due to the efforts of Welsh and Irish monks who recorded and repeated the tales during the Middle Ages. Many of the mythology that were told included the "Otherworld." The gods and spirits that resided in this enigmatic location had no labour to do, no death to experience, and never aged. The Celts thought that people may reach this magical location by passing through sdhe, or burial mounds, or by way of lakes or tunnels.
