Pluto Returns To Capricorn

Change has a considerable psychological impact on the human mind. To the fearful it is threatening because it means that things may get worse. To the hopeful it is encouraging because things may get better. To the confident it is inspiring because the challenge exists to make things better. ~ King Whitney Jr.
After a very brief introduction into Aquarius, Pluto returns to Capricorn this week. Even when Pluto finally enters Aquarius (for the third time) in November 2024, know that the old guard from the Pluto in Capricorn era will still be holding on. But only barely. Old habits die hard. Old regimes continue to vie for control. Vestiges from bygone eras continue to try to insinuate themselves into our lives, longing for a past that we have long since outgrown.
Pluto in the very last degrees of Capricorn can also bring the fear that all that we had worked so hard to build up over the years, all that we had created, feels threatened. And so we desperately cling to what once was, or aim to preserve certain values, traditions and positions what once felt so safe and so secure. Pluto can be a metaphor for death and destruction. But it is also a symbol for birth and renewal. So out of the ashes of what once was, know that new structures will be built, and new paradigms will be created. However, as we stand on this threshold between one era and the next, it can still feel a little scary. And it can be hard to let go.
As Pluto moves into Aquarius it will oppose my generation: the Pluto in Leo generation. However, the Pluto in Leo generation will never give up. Stalwart, determined, we hang in there, and aim to continue to work until the last bits of our functionality fade into oblivion. That’s what we do. Some of us do so for practical reasons. Others simply can’t let go. Even if we must. And even if it might be for the better good. There is something to be said for experience. But there is also something to be said for passing the torch. And as someone from the latter end of the Pluto in Leo generation, I am personally heartened by the younger generations that are emerging. Change can feel threatening, but it can also bring hope. Hope for new solutions, new perspectives, new life, new energy.
This week Pluto returns to Capricorn for some unfinished business. To complete the transition. And to harvest the essence from the Pluto in Capricorn era. There will be some things needing to be phased out. Things that we have outgrown, or are holding us back, and preventing us from evolving and growing. That is the natural order of things. Even now the volcano is seething in Hawaii, the wild fires are burning in Canada, as Pluto returns to Capricorn. And so we are being reminded yet again of the things that are worth preserving and saving.
That being said, when Pluto returns to Capricorn, it could do so with a reminder of what is NOT working any more. What is no longer valid. We are being shown under no uncertain terms, what is holding us back, perhaps even endangering ourselves, and the very structures we depend on for our lives. The transition from the Pluto in Capricorn era to the Pluto in Aquarius era is a process. It does not happen overnight. We have only had a brief introduction into the Pluto in Aquarius era, and now Pluto returns to Capricorn on June 11th. Pluto will re-enter Aquarius on January 21st, only to return briefly to Capricorn yet again, from September to November 19th in 2024. After that we will be fully committed to the Pluto in Aquarius era.
And as retrograde Pluto moves back into Capricorn, we may be asking ourselves:
-
What are we still holding on to that we no longer need, is holding us back, or preventing us from growing?
-
What traditions or outmoded ideas are no longer relevant to us as a whole?
-
What are those things in society that are no longer sustainable?
While also considering:
-
What are the traditions and customs that are worth saving, and help to further support and define our values?
-
Over the past 15 years, what valuable lessons have I learned? What achievements have I contributed to? What have I helped to build?
-
How can I best share what I have learned with others? Or make it more meaningful?
