25 Virgo 40 / 25 Pisces 40
This year’s Pisces Full Moon is one for the record book. Once the waters subside enough for us to find it.
That could take a while. We’re in for an extreme energetic event: overwhelming, over-the-top, disorienting, illuminating, deck-clearing, boundary-blurring, cinematic, magical, defying constraints of time, space and geography; reaching back more than a decade and lingering into next year.
Obviously, this is not a normal full moon. It’s not even normal for a lunar eclipse, which it, not surprisingly, is. (Again, obviously.) It’s a lunar eclipse at the end of the zodiac, in the all-connecting waters of Pisces, and conjunct the sign’s ruler Neptune, illusionist, font of highest love and keeper of the cosmic fog machine.
It’s washing up a lot — accelerating dramas, dousing us with revelations, and precipitating endings and departures that will deposit the members of many traveling parties onto wildly distant shores.
Some of the crashing waves grow out of recent developments. Some are tossing up flotsam and jetsam from as far back as 2011, when Neptune began its journey through Pisces. And some are summoning issues and themes from 2005-2007, when we last had eclipses related to this one.
The event is launching the eclipse cycle of the next two and a half years. This one is entering the picture while the existing one is still playing out (resetting relationship dynamics, in Aries and Libra, through next March).
The newcomer is on the Virgo/Pisces axis, which pits boundaries, analytical thinking and service against immersion, faith and victimhood/martyrdom. The Virgo end is down here on earth, ruled by Mercury in its most practical, detail-oriented guise. The Pisces end – which is taking prominence now — is off in the clouds, in realms that defy physical touch and often reason.
Hanging on to reason is challenging with Neptune blowing fog into the proceedings. Fortunately, two big helpers are on hand: the two cosmic change agents.
Pluto, agent of unavoidable change, is offering a knife to cut through the fog (just imagine it’s possible). The sextile from the Moon and Neptune to Pluto is underscoring the potential for revelations and coaxing secrets from hidden places, and also easing goodbyes.
Uranus, agent of radical, sudden, unexpected change, is helping clearing out the confusion. Look for lightning coming off the sextile from the Moon and Neptune to Uranus, piercing the fog, awakening people who’ve been enveloped by it, and offering liberation, epiphanies and alternate viewpoints. (Wake-up calls and reality checks are on the house!)
The three-way outer planet action adds to the unmistakable vibe of eras ending. (And maybe errors, too.) The most obvious one (if anything in Pisces can really be obvious) is the thirteen plus years that Neptune has been in Pisces. What’s coming to a close? Who’s leaving? Don’t run after any of it and recognize that some departures may drift into next year.
Undercurrents are also swirling with the structural de- and re-construction we’ve experienced during Pluto’s decade and a half in Capricorn. This Moon may reveal magical thinking, or gaslighting, or how you’ve been fooled, or even a higher, more compassionate angle on the sagas.
And when the lightning hits, see if it connects to Uranus’ travels through Taurus since 2019 (with an emphasis on June, July and August of this year).
Viewing events as waves in these cycles may ease your experience. Looking for the benefits on offer may help you ride the waves – although, to be honest, riding a tsunami is not really possible. And this one comes with a nagging insistence to head right into disruption, with the Moon and Neptune semi-sextile discord-stirrer Eris. We have little choice but immersion.
The experience is summed up, appropriately for Neptune, in a film, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel:
“Initially you’re overwhelmed. But gradually you realize it’s like a wave. Resist, and you’ll be knocked over. Dive into it, and you’ll swim out the other side.”
