Merry Meet :))
The New Moon is a powerful time, a moment when the energy of the moon can shape the entire lunar cycle.
For many, this is a sacred occasion, and the following is a typical practice to reflect on the past lunar phase while preparing for the one ahead.
What You’ll Need:
- 3 sheets of paper
- 3 white candles
- A pen
- A safe method to burn paper (optional)
If one feels called to, a sacred circle can be created before beginning these practices. For those with limited space or privacy, stepping outside into nature under the moonlight can offer a more personal experience.
On the New Moon, three separate lists are created:
First List:
The first list is of all the positive things experienced during the past cycle. Time is taken to reflect on each one, appreciating the wonderful moments and expressing gratitude. If it feels right, this list can be written as a letter to the Goddess. Once the list is complete, thanks are given to the Goddess and the universe for the blessings received. A white candle is lit to honor this gratitude. The list can either be burned as an offering or kept safely in a journal or another place of choice.
Second List:
The second list focuses on things that may not have been handled well during the past cycle. One acknowledges their role in these moments, forgives themselves, and asks the Goddess and the universe for help in growing and improving during the next cycle. Once the reflection is complete, the list is burned, releasing any negative energy, fears, or attachments. At this time, Archangel Michael can be called upon to assist in severing any energetic cords that may be holding them back. Cords represent psychic attachments to people or situations no longer serving the highest good. Afterward, they surround themselves with protective white light, renewing their energy. The second white candle is lit to symbolize the fresh and cleansed energy now surrounding them.
Third List:
The third list is focused on the upcoming lunar cycle. Five to ten minutes are spent meditating on intentions, desires, goals, and dreams for the next month. One envisions how they want this cycle to unfold and how they wish to feel. The list is written with clear intention, asking the Goddess for guidance. Once completed, the third candle is lit. This list is then kept on the altar, tucked away in a box, until the next New Moon, when it will be reviewed and progress reflected upon.
Afterward, a few moments are taken to be present in the magic of the moment, connecting with the Goddess, and expressing gratitude for the experience. The candles are then blown out. Often, specific chants or rhymes that resonate with the current cycle are included, but the practice remains creative and personal. It is a time to check in with the universe in a way that feels informal yet deeply meaningful.
Feel free to adapt this ritual to suit personal practices and allow it to flow in a way that aligns with each individual’s journey.
With love and blessings,
Crystal
