New Moon Ritual:
You will need a white candle, some dried sage, and four crystals of your choice. (I use amethyst, unakite, quartz and tigers eye.)
- Have some matches to light the candle and the sage.
- A jam jar of water that you left outside.
- A feather, a pen, and some paper to write on.
The new moon is the clean slate.
Ensure you are not going to burn down the place you're in. Keep the jam jar of water handy for this. Go outdoors and find a flat surface like slate or a concrete slab, place your stones in a square.
- This is your Cardinal guide. N E S W
Let them guide you.
- Ask your spirit guides, angels, animal guides, or the wee folk to guide and help you now.
- With gratitude for all you have in your life, both good and bad, ask the universe for the benefits, abundance, and prosperity paid entirely NOW.
- Light the candle and carefully burn a dry leaf of sage or two over your stones.
- Repeat your mantra and burn the sage again. Wave the feather over your stones.
- Sprinkle some water onto your stones using your fingertips or shine a light through the water onto the stones if they may dissolve or get damaged by the water.
The new moon wants you to start your dream life, so writing down some dreams and looking at them every day until the next moon phase in 30 days is a great idea. You can see if this is really a dream you can pursue. Sometimes we say, "I want to spend time with my family and work hard," but the two might not work together. Or, "I want this job," but you might know deep down you would hate it. Make sure the dream is something you truly want, not just because it will make others happy or you unhappy. If you give up on a dream, it's no big deal as there are other dreams on which you can work. Don't lock yourself into one path; follow multiple paths or dreams. And don't cut off your options or deny your potential.
This new moon invites you to:
- Collect some natural items if you want. Add a feather to remind yourself of the waxing and waning of the moon.
Other options:
- Eating a cake or bread you made after the ritual to thank Mother Earth for her bounty.
- Dancing or singing in a natural place. (Be careful and discreet. Some might do this naked, so be very discreet.)
- Meditation on gratitude and abundance over the next days is a great thing to do.
You have 72 hours around the time of the new moon to do this ritual.
Happy ritual!
