Looking Back in Taurus to Find A New Understanding of A Crucial 2023 Theme.

Mercury is rapidly slowing, preparing to go retrograde soon! Lots of Taurus action ahead!

The shadow zone is defined by the span between where a planet goes retrograde, and where it goes direct after the retrograde period. In this case, Mercury goes retrograde at 16 Taurus on April 21. It will retrograde back to 6 Taurus, where it goes stationary direct on May 14.

That puts the shadow zone between 16 and 6 Taurus, and around 3 pm PDT August 6 Mercury will enter 6 Taurus, the degree where it’ll go SD in mid-May. I’ll be writing quite a few articles about the coming retrograde which will post as it comes closer.

So we now begin an 8 week run of three passes over the span between 6 and 16 Taurus We’ll have returns related to old Taurus people and events which impacted our lives in the past. This will be “a look back” at past pleasures, past values, past resources, and past ways of enjoying life. This one brings memories of prior Taurus experiences so we can get a different angle of understanding.

Mercury retrograde always gives a new take on whatever it’s transiting, and this period is going to reveal much which will be important from past Uranus transits, since that planet was HIGHLY active in this degree span between June 2019 and January 2023. What was awakened then now becomes a source of ideas, understanding, and tools with which to coordinate our advance into the future once we review what works and what doesn’t during the coming retrograde period.

During Mercury retrograde, we often see how we dealt with something in the past and come to new insights about how it affected our ways of relating to similar things since then, or we could come to a new way to apply those old insights into life experiences. The sign(s) where Mercury “looks back” opens us to new ways to view those things, giving opportunities to weave, unweave, or re-weave our understanding of how to apply our “second sight” as we are “guided to our Soul.”

Since Mercury last went stationary direct in January, we’ve been in a period of attuning to our helpers in the invisible world, and aligning our awareness with the One Life we all share. We’ve been organizing or reorganizing wherever 9 Capricorn falls in our charts. Much of what’s been happening in the Gemini and Virgo sectors of our charts has prepared us for a form of cooperative responsible action. This has been a time of crystallizing power in some social or emotional realm whether to ourselves, others, or our world.

The coming Mercury retrograde period will definitely bridge the past, present and future! We’ll take a new look at the near past, as well as the entire year. We’ll be seeing the present as preparing us for new methods, new understanding, and new ways of confirming things of value. And we’ll be seeing the future as Jupiter will go stationary retrograde at 16 Taurus this September, reinforcing the lesson that old ways are inadequate to confirm new conditions.

The retrograde period begins in a review of how old approaches were inadequate in the recent past with an eye to finding new means of securing what we value. This begins with the need to revise our methods of confirming things, revising how we do what we do. This retrograde will take us back through the parts of Taurus where we’ll revisit the individual mental-spiritual and social/emotional levels of how to substantiate what we need.

Time To Adjust to A Different Pace

The Mercurial data you notice over the next 3+ weeks will be clarified after the Sun crosses the Mercury SRX degree around May 5/6 a few days after the Inferior Conjunction at 12 Taurus on May 1. That begins to quicken the information cycle, since Mercury goes direct on May 14, speeding everything up substantially. So in the coming weeks, adapt to the slowing pace of things, get all your papers in order, finish what you can, and prepare to put some things on hold for a little while.

Take a look at what's been set into motion with an eye to building in delays, rehearsals, or more research before things again begin to move forward in mid-May. The time before Mercury goes retrograde is good for doing what must be done so that other related things can be done later, as well as reconnecting with people and activities from the past that are somehow related to the future.

With Mercury’s retrograde station at 16 Taurus, get ready to go inward and review the need for new approaches, new understanding, and new ways of securing what you need. We can find a new way of seeing or expressing ourselves, more or less “backing into new values and methods” as prelude to joining with others to bridge some social or emotional “chasm” which is part of our evolutionary track.
