As the editor of the Astrology Arizona newsletter, I compose an overview of each month. Today we take a look at the primary factors for the month.

The Overview for March

In 2025, the month of March puts the focus on the Pisces and Aries sectors of our chart. We’re now firmly in the Pluto in Aquarius era for the next 20 years, and this month marks the beginning of the Neptune in Aries era!

The month begins with Venus going retrograde followed by Mercury going retrograde. They begin at 11 and 10 Aries respectively, and retrograde back to Pisces by the end of March. During that time they make “Inferior conjunctions” with the Sun in late March, with Venus’ conjunction at 3 Aries and Mercury’s conjunction at 5 Aries.

This is important because Neptune will go stationary retrograde at 3 Aries in early July, spreading the Venus/Sun conjunction theme far and wide this Summer. As Saturn also enters Aries in late May and goes SRX at 2 Aries in July, it’s easy to see we have a LOT of activity going on in our late Pisces and early Aries sectors of our charts.

This marks a new turn in the long wave Aquarius pulses set into motion in 2021 which have been bringing in signs and signals of an entirely new era to come. As there are no oppositions from any planet except the Moon, make progress while closing out whatever you need to, as we’re approaching a huge leap forward by mid-April.

With Jupiter direct, continue leaving the ghosts of the past behind and face forward, since the adventure into the future quickens this month and accelerates like lightning by April! Still, with Mars and Jupiter direct while Mercury and Venus slow, the pace will be fast for some things, normal for other things, and slow for other things.

This month is a mixed bag of aspects, since the Pisces transits conjunct Neptune and the North Node, while the transits of early Aries quintile Jupiter and biseptile Mars. The first Mercury biseptile Mars early in the month is a precursor for the Venus, Mercury, and Solar biseptiles to Mars beginning mid-March. This will put us at multiple “forks in the road of destiny” during that time. Areas most impacted include 18-24 Cancer, 9-15 Virgo, 1-7 Scorpio, 22-28 Sagittarius, 14-20 Aquarius, 5-11 Aries, and 27 Taurus-3 Gemini.

The entire month we’re blessed with Mars trine Saturn, favoring a stable flow and harmony to planets we have in the last half of the Earth and Water signs. We also have Mars decile Jupiter and tredecile Neptune for the first half of the month, showing an interactive favorable serendipity in the charts of those with planets near 1-4 Aries/Libra, 6-10 Taurus/Scorpio, 12-16 Gemini/Sagittarius, 18-22 Cancer/Capricorn, 24-28 Leo/Aquarius, and 30 Virgo/Pisces. As you can see, this month will bring major changes and extraordinary good fortune to many!

This month is dominated by the New Moon at 10 Pisces in late February which will help us say goodbye to many things, as the Lunation is conjunct Saturn, Mercury, the North Node and Neptune all in late Pisces. This is “the end of the end” as we see the dawning of a new era in the world. We’ll see what’s passing and what’s being built for the future, with solid feeling-understanding facilitated by Mars trine Saturn. With all the inner planets in Pisces and Aries, this month we have all the planets in half the zodiac from Aquarius through Cancer when the Moon is in those signs.

This creates a “Bowl” Jones pattern, with a real sense of what we have versus what we don’t, what is versus what isn’t, and what we have to give to our world. Scorpio rising through Aries rising people are initiating activity at this time, while Taurus rising through Libra rising people are capturing experience and achieving closure on things.

We have a very powerful Lunar eclipse happening on March 14 which will begin several months of shutting down something in the houses where we have 24 Pisces and Virgo. Still, as that eclipse is favorable to Uranus and Mars, we’ll have a lot of favorable aspects helping us get over preconceptions, see our interrelatedness, and should be able to let go of a lot of the past during the Spring and Summer while this eclipse is in effect.

Pluto leads the outer planet occupied span in early Aquarius. Each year we have major oppositions between July and November to Pluto, Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus. We’ve completed our oppositions to those planets for the present, with the exception of the very intense oppositions between Mars and Pluto. We had our first opposition in early November, had the second one in early January and the third one coming in late April 2025.

Because Jupiter’s in Gemini, it gives a Gemini backdrop to planets we have in Sagittarius and Pisces, as well as the houses where these signs are on the cusp. Jupiter in Gemini brings new information and perspectives to those things it rules. Still, the conjunctions to Jupiter when it was in Taurus rule the coming year until the conjunctions with Jupiter in Cancer in June 2025.

Saturn went SD on a degree of showing courage as we focus our spiritual will. We’ve reviewed the span between 20 to 13 Pisces since June, and have now turned toward the future as we begin to finish the main lessons of Saturn in Pisces. We have received something which nourishes us “at the end of our day of labor,” and now need to put ourselves out into the world as we revisit our deepest and highest wisdom. Expect interesting returns and more coming in March and early April!

With Neptune direct, we now move forward collectively to finish some things before it enters Aries in late March. Abundance is promised for all of us by Neptune, and with Saturn direct and Neptune direct headed for Aries, we have a new collective atmosphere on the way!

For now, Neptune is still moving through the part of Pisces which is “the end of the end,” so keep flowing through these strange times and have as much compassion for yourself and others as needed. As I gave you last month, the primary Saturn theme for the rest of this year and early 2025 is going to help us finish some things, forgive some things, and bless some endings.

The Spiritual Field

We continue to be blessed by the closest Neptune sextile with Pluto in 30 years, joined by Uranus creating a “three note chord” last Summer, extending into 2025. With Uranus in Taurus, Neptune in Pisces, and Pluto now in Aquarius for years to come, we have an out of sign but powerful “double sextile/trine” which should favorably impact all planets we have in late Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces. The Spiritual Field represented by these outermost planets has stabilized our late Earth and Water sectors in the spiritual sectors of their signs.

This is preparing us for an entirely new experience of Spirit and Life in 2025 when these Spiritual powerhouses shift out of Earth and Water into Fire and Air, Life and Spirit expressed as a new inspiration, joined by Saturn when it enters Aries creating a “three note chord” of harmonic consciousness. That means 2024 and 2025 will spiritually harmonize planets we have in late Earth and Water signs, while in 2025-2026 they will do the same for planets we have in the early degrees of the Fire and Air signs.

Uranus will occupy the third decan of Taurus until it enters Gemini in July, where it stays through early November before retrograding back into Taurus through late April 2026 when it returns to Gemini. The Cosmic Awakener promises us a new life and a “genuine rejuvenation” and life renewal as a result of what we went through in August and September 2024 which will explode in 2026!

We’ve been moving through an individual and spiritual awakening which marks the beginning of a long term regeneration and renewal wherever we have late Taurus. This is the next step of the new 2 year cycle where we have 27 Taurus in our charts resulting from the July Mars/Uranus conjunction which will be triggered by future Taurus transits.

Neptune at “the end of the end” of Pisces is giving us all a sense of vast feelings and finality. We’ve been in a review of “our dream to come” these past few months, and now move forward into a “dream of abundance” on our way to a new Neptunian field in Aries. Keep dreaming the future you want to see become manifest. This year we begin to finalize our experience of the vast unifying field as we prepare to move into a more fiery collective energy in 2025.

With Pluto having left Capricorn for hundreds of years, we are living on the cusp of historic change. As it went stationary retrograde at 3 Aquarius, we’ve begun a wild ride into a time of defiance, rebellion, with many refusing to follow what they believe to be authoritarian control systems. As it is on its coming SRX degree in March, open to your latent “healing powers,” or abilities to restore a natural harmony to circumstances. Be fearless in making the decisions you need to make.

We also have several long wave Aries cycles in play. Jupiter launched a major healing and mentoring cycle when it conjuncted Chiron at 15 Aries on March 11, 2023. That began a long wave Chiron cycle which will last until the Summer of 2036. And we just finished a 2 year Mars/Chiron cycle and began a new one at 23 Aries.

Not all Chiron cycles are the same length. When Chiron transits between Aquarius and Gemini, it moves relatively slowly and has conjunctions with Jupiter about every 13 years. However, it can take 19-20 years for the next conjunction after Gemini or Cancer. That means once the conjunction at 16 Gemini happens in the Summer of 2036 we won’t have another conjunction of Jupiter and Chiron until the Spring of 2056 in Aquarius, which will launch another long term “expansive healing/mentoring” cycle.

Mars

Mars is now direct at 18 Cancer and moving forward through its shadow zone until early May. The pace will pick up speed for many months to come, so get ready to plug your energies into motion. We all had a chance to see what’s relatively permanent and what’s not since early December, and now we have to figure out how to find a consistent supply of our needs. As the entire world will be doing that as well, don’t feel like you’re alone in the challenge!

Mars is squarely in its long term occupancy of the area between 18 Cancer and 7 Leo, so get used to it! The first three weeks of the month mirrors the Mars span from February, so this month is about how to ensure supply in the future, welcoming or implementing new ideas, new blood, and new activities, and finding festivity. The last week of the month we have to do a “performance” which represents the end of a quest and a realization of some life ambition, and follow our “longing to live life as a grand adventure,” seeing how our sustained desire has brought us to a threshold of fulfilling that desire.

This is the next step in personality integration through activity which synthesizes a self-initiated “self-gathering.” As Mars is trine Saturn the entire month into March, go with the stabilizing flow while eliminating all you no longer need or are attracted to.

This month Mars activates the house(s) where we have 18 through 24 Cancer. The first 14 days of the month activates 18 and 19 Cancer, while the rest of the month Mars moves through 20, 21, 22, and 23 Cancer. So basically this month we’ll see an agitating effect on planets between 18-23 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn.

As I’ve offered before, when Mars is within a degree of forming or separating from a hard aspect with a planet, slow down and show deliberation and caution in how you use force. Hard aspects to/from Mars require that we moderate or antidote impulsiveness and impatience.

We’re Actors On A New Stage With A New Set – The Bigger Picture

We’re still in the initial years of a new era in human evolution. The Grand Mutation of Jupiter conjunct Saturn at 1 Aquarius began a new 20 year Aquarian Era in December 2020, as well as a new 200 year era, moving global energies out of Earth and into Air. We’ve begun to grow beyond the materialism of the past 200 years and have entered 2 centuries of Air emphasis, with its qualities of relatedness, receptivity, versatility, movability, lightness, and cooperative ideas, visions, and ideals.

We’re still "under the beams" of the Solar Eclipses of 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024, and these “cosmic recyclers” continue to remove what we no longer need in our lives. Take note of where you have 1 Cancer, 24 and 13 Sagittarius, 20 Gemini, 20 and 30 Aries, 11 Taurus, and 2 Scorpio, since we’ve all had to let go of many things related to these sectors the past few years. The April-May 2023 eclipses have begun to work their magic on our Aries and Libra sectors for a long time to come. The 2023 Solar eclipse at 30 Aries and the October Solar eclipse at 22 Libra are also shutting down parts of our lives where we have those signs. We now have the Solar eclipse at 20 Aries added to the list, as well as the recent Solar eclipse at 11 Libra.

As we study how successive Eclipses have affected various areas of our charts and lives, we can get a sense of the utility of these “Cosmic Recyclers” in removing what we no longer needed in those areas, creating a void which attracted new experiences. They invite us to see the continuity of “letting go, taking in, letting go, taking in” across the years.

Primary Action Beats for the First Half of the Month

January begins with the New Moon at 10 Pisces trine Mars, conjunct Saturn, and square Jupiter, stabilizing the flow while helping us define ourselves in new or diverse ways. This month has some planets moving forward, others moving backward, so keep making progress even if there are delays and echoes of memories. The beginning of March helps us develop a new “feeling awareness” as we prepare for a new Aries era coming like an express train!

The first week of the month brings Mercury conjunct Neptune at 30 Pisces and Sun square Jupiter. Mercury enters Aries and immediately trines Pluto and quintiles Jupiter, showing a great time for getting to the heart of any matter. The first week shows the Moon moving from Aries to Cancer, putting the Moon inside the occupied span. As it makes some fantastic aspects throughout the week, make the most of that time!

The second week of the month brings Sun trine Mars and conjunct Saturn, giving power to that stabilizing energy. The flow should be clear. That week also brings Mercury direct conjunct Venus retrograde, so pay attention to the ideas and perceptions of that period, since it can help weave past, present, and future into a clear picture.

The Moon moves from Cancer to Libra the second week of the month. That means the Moon is inside the occupied span for most of the first half of March, and only becomes the “nozzle” to express the other planets’ energies when it’s in Virgo and Libra. The second week ends with the Full Moon Lunar eclipse at 24 Virgo/Pisces on March 14, with Mercury exactly stationary retrograde on March 14/15.

Primary Action Beats for the Second Half of the Month

The third week begins under the beams of the Full Moon Lunar eclipse, which as noted, should be very productive in removing what we no longer need in our late Virgo/Pisces sectors. With Mercury retrograde at that point, it’s a “back to the future” type of energy in the air. Be willing to take a new look at whatever pops up, and find a new meaning or interpretation of things in the past which used to be important.

The third week of March shows the Moon transiting from Libra through Sagittarius, with good aspects on March 15, 18, 19, and 20. That week the Sun conjuncts Neptune, lighting up our dreams of the future just before the Vernal Equinox on March 20. As the Sun and Venus are both quintile Jupiter and sextile Pluto, this favors efficiency and unique ideas and perspectives helping us find shortcuts to accomplish what we want.

The fourth week of March brings the Inferior conjunct of Venus with the Sun on a degree of “avatarship,” helping us reflect and review how we’ve overcome insecurities and now can serve as inspirations for others. That’s followed by the Inferior conjunction of Mercury with the Sun on a degree of imagining a higher quality of being through healing ourselves or others. During that week the Moon moves from Sagittarius through Aries, bringing new vision to our general experience.

The end of the month features the New Moon Solar eclipse at 10 Aries, showing a lot of old perceptions will be shut down in the next few years so we can embrace the new beginnings and new understanding represented by that eclipse. That eclipse has Mercury at 1 Aries about to slip back into Pisces, and Neptune at 30 Pisces about to slip into Aries. As the last week of the month has many favorable lunar aspects, a lot can be accomplished, whether during the “old Moon” of March 24-29 or the new Moon of March 29-31.

Evolutionary Development

This is the second month of the North Node in Pisces era! We have finished a period of our greatest development being served by self-initiated activity (Aries) demonstrated through our balanced response (Libra) to an ongoing transfiguration toward an ideal. So we have grown through focused action and demonstrate it through expressing our Archetypal Self, whether in the world of inner space or outer affairs.

We have now begun a period of the NN moving through Pisces and the SN through Virgo, marking many months of growing through empathy, compassion, and forgiveness, demonstrated through our sense of service. We will grow in our “nonlocal awareness” and tuning into Neptune and Saturn while “showing what we know” wherever we have late Virgo.

Our wise friend Saturn continues to teach us through the vast feeling experiences from its time in Pisces, and now we’re seeing what is to be perpetuated into the new era in 2025. We are still learning disciplines of forgiveness and compassion, and this month we see how we’re living a higher life than before, with a need to honor our transfigured Self, listen to the inner voice, and be ready to move into the unknown, rejecting some things while accepting others as we transmute magnetism into power.

The Sun in Pisces is a time to see the Light of compassion and the universal human conditions as we bless endings and move into a new year. Here we sort through things, eliminating some and retaining others. Empathy is powerful, as is the ability to use forgiveness as a spiritual power to invoke Divine Grace to come forth.

We are now beginning our fifth year of the new Aquarian era, with a new iteration of that future-oriented energy having come forth in February. Jupiter in Taurus helped us get a new grounded expansive view of how to sustain the Aquarian unfoldment which is finding forms of expression while Jupiter is in Gemini. We’ve all entered a new land. Let go of the lesser, accept the greater, and the new land you’re in is going to be far more enjoyable than the old land you’ve had to leave.

Because we’re about to begin the fifth year of a new 20 year and 200 year cycle, remember a new era has dawned. Have courage and take the initiative to leave the Earth and fly free into the Air of what’s opening as the Grand Mutation expands its promise into the Divine transfigured ideal of a more just truth and future. While it may not look like that now, it’s just the beginning!

Even though the ideal is far away, we are the midwives and mid-husbands to a new way of relating to Life, Energy, Consciousness, each other, and the Earth Herself. Because our essential nature is Loving Wisdom, remember to lighten up, play a little, and be willing to explore new arenas of effective activity where you can work and play with other Light Spirits. This is the time to take heart as we navigate the dawning of the Pluto in Aquarius era.

We are now collectively transfiguring into a greater vision of the one Light/Life we all are together. Continue to find your heart strength and new forms of genuine happiness appropriate for who you are now, and who you are becoming relative to just a few months ago.

We now navigate the cosmic time-space between endings and beginnings so bless and forgive much to flow down the time stream. The past is over and we all have begun our trek into a new world of new potential, new adventures, and new ways to enjoy being ourselves while doing our work of Destiny. Open to the abundance of the process of growth, since we are all on a rocket ship to the stars!
