As the editor of the Astrology Arizona newsletter, I compose an overview of each month. Today we take a look at the primary factors for the month.

The Overview for February

In 2025, the month of February puts the focus on the Aquarius, Pisces, and Aries sectors of our chart. We’re now firmly in the Pluto in Aquarius era for the next 20 years!

The month begins with Mercury racing forward, Jupiter going stationary direct, and Venus in Her shadow zone slowing to go retrograde at 11 Aries on March 1. Mars is still retrograde, picking up speed slowly, and will go direct late in the month, showing a general sense of things speeding up, even though Mercury and Venus will both be slow by the end of February.

This marks a renewal of the long wave Aquarius pulses set into motion in 2021 which have been bringing in signs and signals of an entirely new era to come. As there are no oppositions from any planet except the Moon, make progress while closing out whatever you need to, as we’re approaching a huge leap forward by mid-April.

With Jupiter going direct, leave the ghosts of the past behind and face forward, since the adventure into the future quickens this month and accelerates like lightning by April! Still, the pace will be fast for some things, normal for other things, and slowed for even other things. At least we have Uranus, Jupiter, and Mars all moving forward this month and for months to come.

This month is a mixed bag of aspects, since the Sun and Mercury both make great aspects to Jupiter the first half of the month before squaring Uranus, releasing the inventive energies of that planet. By late February, Mars’ long time trine to Saturn will have helped stabilize many things as Mercury and the Sun move into Pisces and trigger the double sextile/trine from late Cancer to late Taurus and late Pisces.

This month is dominated by the New Moon at 10 Aquarius of late January which will help us pull back from projections and plan anew. We’ll see what’s passing and what’s being built for the future, with great connections to be made thanks to the trine to Jupiter. With all the inner planets in Aquarius, Pisces, and Aries, this month we have all the planets in half the zodiac from Aquarius through Cancer when the Moon is in those signs.

The creates a “Bowl” Jones pattern, with a real sense of what we have versus what we don’t, what is versus what isn’t, and what we have to give to our world. Scorpio rising through Aries rising people are initiating activity at this time, while Taurus rising through Libra rising people are capturing experience and achieving closure on things.

Pluto leads the outer planet occupied span through early 2025. Each year we have major oppositions between July and November to Pluto, Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus. We’ve completed our oppositions to those planets for the year, with the exception of the very intense oppositions between Mars and Pluto. We had our first opposition in early November, have the second one in early January and the third one in late April 2025.

Because Jupiter’s in Gemini, it gives a Gemini backdrop to planets we have in Sagittarius and Pisces, as well as the houses where these signs are on the cusp. Jupiter in Gemini brings new information and perspectives to those things it rules. Still, the conjunctions to Jupiter when it was in Taurus rule the coming year until the conjunctions with Jupiter in Cancer in June 2025.

Saturn went SD on a degree of showing courage as we focus our spiritual will. We’ve reviewed the span between 20 to 13 Pisces since June, and have now turned toward the future as we finish the main lessons of Saturn in Pisces as we finish our third transit of its 2024 Shadow zone between now and February 2025. We have seen the promise of that which nourishes us “at the end of our day of labor,” and now need to put ourselves out into the world as we revisit our deepest and highest wisdom. The feast will be set into motion by the middle of February, with returns and more coming in March and early April!

With Neptune direct, we now move forward collectively to finish some things before entering Aries in late March. Abundance is promised for all of us by Neptune, and with Saturn direct and Neptune direct headed for Aries, we have a new collective atmosphere on the way! For now, Neptune is still moving through the part of Pisces which is “the end of the end,” so keep flowing through these strange times and have as much compassion for yourself and others as needed. As I gave you last month, the primary Saturn theme for the rest of this year and early 2025 is going to help us finish some things, forgive some things, and bless some endings.

The Spiritual Field

We continue to be blessed by the closest Neptune sextile with Pluto in 30 years, joined by Uranus creating a “three note chord” last Summer, extending into 2025. With Uranus in Taurus, Neptune in Pisces, and Pluto now in Aquarius for years to come, we have an out of sign but powerful “double sextile/trine” which should favorably impact all planets we have in late Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces. The Spiritual Field represented by these outermost planets has stabilized our late Earth and Water sectors in the spiritual sectors of their signs.

This is preparing us for an entirely new experience of Spirit and Life in 2025 when these Spiritual powerhouses shift out of Earth and Water into Fire and Air, Life and Spirit expressed as a new inspiration, joined by Saturn when it enters Aries creating a “three note chord” of harmonic consciousness. That means 2024 and 2025 will spiritually harmonize planets we have in late Earth and Water signs, while in 2025-2026 they will do the same for planets we have in the early degrees of the Fire and Air signs.

Uranus will occupy the third decan of Taurus for the rest of this year through early July 2025. This is a Capricorn sub-influence with an added dose of Saturn, so there’s more structure and discipline and less micromanagement of details. The Cosmic Awakener promises us a new life and a “genuine rejuvenation” and life renewal as a result of what we went through in August and September.

We’ve been moving through an individual and spiritual awakening which marks the beginning of a long term regeneration and renewal wherever we have late Taurus. This is the next step of the new 2 year cycle where we have 27 Taurus in our charts resulting from the July Mars/Uranus conjunction.

Neptune at “the end of the end” of Pisces is giving us all a sense of vast feelings and finality. We’ve been in a review of “our dream to come” these past few months, and now move forward into a “dream of abundance” on our way to a new Neptunian field in Aries. Keep dreaming the future you want to see become manifest. This year we begin to finalize our experience of the vast unifying field as we prepare to move into a more fiery collective energy in 2025.

With Pluto having left Capricorn for hundreds of years, we are living on the cusp of historic change. As it went stationary retrograde at 3 Aquarius, we’ve begun a wild ride into a time of defiance, rebellion, with many refusing to follow what they believe to be authoritarian control systems. As it is back on that degree in February, be open to “regrasping past experience” and see it from a different angle of understanding due to a “sharp self-examination.” Be fearless in making the decisions you need to make.

We also have several long wave Aries cycles in play. Jupiter launched a major healing and mentoring cycle when it conjuncted Chiron at 15 Aries on March 11, 2023. That began a long wave Chiron cycle which will last until the Summer of 2036. And we just finished a 2 year Mars/Chiron cycle and began a new one at 23 Aries.

Not all Chiron cycles are the same length. When Chiron transits between Aquarius and Gemini, it moves relatively slowly and has conjunctions with Jupiter about every 13 years. However, it can take 19-20 years for the next conjunction after Gemini or Cancer. That means once the conjunction at 16 Gemini happens in the Summer of 2036 we won’t have another conjunction of Jupiter and Chiron until the Spring of 2056 in Aquarius, which will launch another long term “expansive healing/mentoring” cycle.

Mars

Mars is now retrograde and about go stationary direct at 18 Cancer. The pace will slowly pick up speed for many months to come, so get ready to plug your energies into motion. We all had a chance to see what’s relatively permanent and what’s not since early December, and now we are about to hit a threshold where we’ll have to figure out how to find a consistent supply of our needs. As the entire world will be doing that as well, don’t feel like you’re alone in the challenge!

Mars is squarely in its long term occupancy of the area between 18 Cancer and 7 Leo, so get used to it! This month is about allowing some festivity, some new ideas, new blood, and new activities, and how to ensure supply in the future. This is the next step in personality integration through activity which synthesizes a self-initiated “self-gathering.” As Mars is trine Saturn the entire month into March, go with the stabilizing flow while eliminating all you no longer need or are attracted to.

This month Mars activates the house(s) where we have 18 through 21 Cancer. The first 11 days of the month activates 21, 20, and 19 Cancer, while the rest of the month Mars sits on its stationary direct degree at 18 Cancer. So basically this month through the March Equinox we’ll see an agitating effect on planets between 18-21 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn.

As I’ve offered before, when Mars is within a degree of forming or separating from a hard aspect with a planet, slow down and show deliberation and caution in how you use force. Hard aspects to/from Mars require that we moderate or antidote impulsiveness and impatience.

We’re Actors On A New Stage With A New Set – The Bigger Picture

We’re still in the initial years of a new era in human evolution. The Grand Mutation of Jupiter conjunct Saturn at 1 Aquarius began a new 20 year Aquarian Era in December 2020, as well as a new 200 year era, moving global energies out of Earth and into Air. We’ve begun to grow beyond the materialism of the past 200 years and have entered 2 centuries of Air emphasis, with its qualities of relatedness, receptivity, versatility, movability, lightness, and cooperative ideas, visions, and ideals.

We’re still "under the beams" of the Solar Eclipses of 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024, and these “cosmic recyclers” continue to remove what we no longer need in our lives. Take note of where you have 1 Cancer, 24 and 13 Sagittarius, 20 Gemini, 20 and 30 Aries, 11 Taurus, and 2 Scorpio, since we’ve all had to let go of many things related to these sectors the past few years. The April-May 2023 eclipses have begun to work their magic on our Aries and Libra sectors for a long time to come. The 2023 Solar eclipse at 30 Aries and the October Solar eclipse at 22 Libra are also shutting down parts of our lives where we have those signs. We now have the Solar eclipse at 20 Aries added to the list, as well as the recent Solar eclipse at 11 Libra.

As we study how successive Eclipses have affected various areas of our charts and lives, we can get a sense of the utility of these “Cosmic Recyclers” in removing what we no longer needed in those areas, creating a void which attracted new experiences. They invite us to see the continuity of “letting go, taking in, letting go, taking in” across the years.

Primary Action Beats for the First Half of the Month

February begins with the New Moon at 10 Aquarius trine Jupiter, opening the doors of perception for all of us! With Uranus also stationary direct, this begins our “great leap forward.” The beginning of February is expansive and yet deep at the same time, as Venus conjuncts Neptune and the Moon conjuncts both before leaping into Aries and making favorable aspects to Pluto, Mercury, Jupiter, and the Sun on Feb 1-2.

Mercury trines Jupiter on Feb 3 just as Venus enters Aries, followed by Jupiter going direct on February 4. These trines will be beneficial for planets we have in the middle degrees of the Fire and Air signs. The rest of the first week shows favorable aspects on February 4, 5, 6, and 7 as the Moon moves through Taurus and Gemini. The only friction is from the Sun and Mercury at 19 Aquarius quincunx Mars at 19 Cancer on February 7, showing a need for adjustment. Productivity is found by cooperating in reorienting, or seeing how the future will require a movement of some sort.

The second week of the month brings the exact Mars trine Saturn and the Superior conjunction of Mercury and the Sun. This is both stabilizing and the beginning of Mercury slowing to go retrograde in March. The Sun squares Uranus on February 11, so slow down and decrease tension and nervous responses the entire second week of February.

The Moon moves from Gemini to Virgo the second week of the month. That means the Moon is inside the occupied span for most of the first half of February, and only becomes the “nozzle” to express the other planets’ energies when it’s in Virgo. The second week ends with the Full Moon at 25 Aquarius/Leo on February 12th and Mercury in the Transfiguration Zone (the last 2 degrees of Aquarius) on February 13.

Primary Action Beats for the Second Half of the Month

The third week begins under the beams of the Full Moon of February 12 at 25 Aquarius/Leo, showing we have to be less reflexive and more volitional in our actions, expressed through self-sufficiency and self-reliance. This will be a very powerful Full Moon as it makes a T-square with Uranus, showing the need for us to use our “x-ray vision” to see the structural strengths and weaknesses in whatever calls our attention.

The third week of February shows the Moon transiting from Virgo through Sagittarius, with good aspects on February 15, 17, 19, and 20. Mercury squares Jupiter on February 20, so show humor, precise thinking, and don’t let imagination go wild, unless you’re a writer! As the Moon in Sagittarius opposes Jupiter and squares Mercury and Saturn, be practical and pay attention to details.

The fourth week of February brings Mercury trine Mars going stationary direct at 18 Cancer, showing the theme for many over the next year will involve assuring some sort of supply. That week brings Mercury conjunct Saturn, so pay attention to intuitive flashes, and if you need to express compassion, do that, even if silently. The end of the fourth week brings the New Moon at 10 Pisces, bringing a month of “navigating by the seat of our pants,” attaining forms of mastery in “clouded situations.”

We finish the month with Venus going retrograde on March 1, followed by Mercury conjunct Neptune and Sun square Jupiter. Things could become obscure and a bit turned around at the end of February, so play it slow and steady. Caution is needed at that time. The Moon moves from Virgo to Sag the third week of February, and from Sag to Aries through the end of the Month. So the Moon will be the nozzle to release the other energies the third week, and disappear into the occupied span in the fourth week.

Evolutionary Development

This is the first month of the North Node in Pisces era! We have finished a period of our greatest development being served by self-initiated activity (Aries) demonstrated through our balanced response (Libra) to an ongoing transfiguration toward an ideal. So we have grown through focused action and demonstrate it through expressing our Archetypal Self, whether in the world of inner space or outer affairs.

We have now begun a period of the NN moving through Pisces and the SN through Virgo, marking many months of growing through empathy, compassion, and forgiveness, demonstrated through our sense of service. We will grow in our “nonlocal awareness” and tuning into Neptune and Saturn while “showing what we know” wherever we have late Virgo.

Our wise friend Saturn continues to teach us through the vast feeling experiences from its time in Pisces, and now we’re seeing what is to be perpetuated into the new era in 2025. We are still learning disciplines of forgiveness and compassion, and this month we revise some ideas, find what we’ve been promised since last Summer, and begin a new “feeling learning.”

The Sun in Aquarius is a time to see the Light of our unique part to play in the greater group work dedicated to the greatest good for the greatest number. This is where we get to examine our ideals as an expression of our Leo heart radiance, and refocus our sense of being a conscious particle of Light in an infinite field of conscious particles of Light.

We are now beginning our fifth year of the new Aquarian era, with a new iteration of that future-oriented energy coming in February. Jupiter in Taurus helped us get a new grounded expansive view of how to sustain the Aquarian unfoldment which is finding forms of expression while Jupiter is in Gemini. We’ve all entered a new land. Let go of the lesser, accept the greater, and the new land you’re in is going to be far more enjoyable than the old land you’ve had to leave.

Because we’re about to begin the fifth year of a new 20 year and 200 year cycle, remember a new era has dawned. Have courage and take the initiative to leave the Earth and fly free into the Air of what’s opening as the Grand Mutation expands its promise into the Divine transfigured ideal of a more just truth and future. While it may not look like that now, it’s just the beginning!

Even though the ideal is far away, we are the midwives and mid-husbands to a new way of relating to Life, Energy, Consciousness, each other, and the Earth Herself. Because our essential nature is Loving Wisdom, remember to lighten up, play a little, and be willing to explore new arenas of effective activity where you can work and play with other Light Spirits. This is the time to take heart as we navigate the dawning of the Pluto in Aquarius era.

We are now collectively transfiguring into a greater vision of the one Light/Life we all are together. Continue to find your heart strength and new forms of genuine happiness appropriate for who you are now, and who you are becoming relative to just a few months ago.

We now navigate the cosmic time-space between endings and beginnings so bless and forgive much to flow down the time stream. The past is over and we all have begun our trek into a new world of new potential, new adventures, and new ways to enjoy being ourselves while doing our work of Destiny. Open to the abundance of the process of growth, since we are all on a rocket ship to the stars!
