Spiritually Moving On From Your Ex
- Details
Sadly, 40% of marriages end in divorce, and the break-up rate for long term relationships is the same. When you separate from a partner, it can be difficult getting closure and moving on. You may find that you have many unanswered questions, and there may be practical arrangements that take a long time to sort out. These hurdles might make it difficult to move on and begin focussing on yourself again. Once the dust has settled though, it is important for you to spend some time nurturing your soul so that you can move forward spiritually.
Listen to your subconscious
After a break up, having dreams about your ex-partner is extremely common. It is your subconscious’ way of processing the breakup. If you didn’t get the closure you were looking for, or didn’t get the answers to why your relationship wasn’t working, then these feelings may resurface in your dreams. When you wake, write down any questions or issues that you remember from your dream. It may well be that you will never get an explanation about some aspects of your breakup, but simply by writing them down, you can understand more about how your subconscious is processing the change. This will help you to accept and move on.
Rediscover yourself
During a breakup, it is easy to lose sight of yourself. It is an emotional time, and when there is hurt or upset, many people don’t look after themselves as well as they should. In the months after a break up, use this valuable time to simply rediscover who you are. Spend time focussing on the things that bring you joy. You may want to pursue some new hobbies, or take some weekends away to visit places that have always interested you. Go on a pamper day with a friend and enjoy some guilt-free time looking after yourself. You may find during this time that you have grown spiritually as a person, and that your perspective on life has changed enormously.
Keep a spiritual journal
A spiritual journal is a way to keep track of your soul. It is a good way to focus on the positive and make plans for how you would like to see your life moving forward for the future. You could start each day with an affirmation - a positive quote to live your life by. You could then write about something that you are grateful for - because there is always something good in every day. Use your diary as a way of reconnecting with your soul, because even through the toughest of breakups, your own soul is something that is ever-present and will never change.
When you have broken up with a partner, it can be a big change in your life. Moving on spiritually will take time, but you can emerge on the other side a stronger and more confident person with a great future ahead of you.
