Strange Paradoxes Of Human Behavior
- Details
- Written by Alue K. Loskotová

Humanity is an irrational, contradictory and highly inconsistent species.
Because of the complexity of our minds, and the fact that most of our behavior is governed by subconscious patterns of behavior, we often act in very bizarre ways. Often our behavior even contradicts what we really feel inside.
Perhaps one of the greatest realizations we can discover in life is that not everything is as it seems on the surface. This is especially true of people. The ability to clearly see and appreciate the ambiguity of the world and the contradictory nature of everything around us gives us a much deeper understanding of other people. Life and people are not black and white.
Interesting paradoxes of human behavior
Aggressive self-confidence is usually a reflection of inner weakness and an inferiority complex
To compensate for their feelings of powerlessness, people (especially men) replace them with self-confidence, aggression and dominant behavior. The irony is that this often fools a person into believing that they are an "alpha" male (or female), despite their paradoxical internal fear that they are actually a weakling and might be found out.
When you meet a person who is constantly trying to convince you to pull yourself together, it is almost always a reflection of their deeper inferiority complex.
Sexual promiscuity is a reflection of inner feelings of ugliness and worthlessness
Especially for women, it is shameful to be a light air girl who throws her legs almost in greeting. While such a woman tries to pretend to be emancipated, independent, fierce and femme fatale, in reality she has immense insecurities, especially when it comes to her self-esteem and perception of her own body.
Paradoxically, the more partners such a woman has, the more she hates herself.
The sweeter a person is, the bigger a jerk they are
The nicer a person is, the more shadow elements they suppress in themselves. Of course, we must be able to distinguish inner contentment and decent behavior from false sweetness, pretense and ass-crawling.
People who try the hardest to please everyone and rub everyone's mouth with honey tend to be the angriest, most depressed and most anxious.
They repress their less socially attractive elements into the shadows, they cannot accept them or work with them. As a result, they become more and more wild and neurotic inside.
The quieter a person is, the louder they are
The polarized personality temperaments, introversion and extroversion, provide a fascinating example of a paradox in human behavior.
While extroverts are very loud and gregarious, left to themselves they are quiet, depressed and restless. Because their outer worlds are so flamboyant and busy, their inner worlds are often empty and quiet.
And while introverts are socially reserved, left to themselves they are very lively and boisterous. Their inner worlds are filled with exciting thoughts, wild imaginations, and vivid creativity that breaks free when given the space and peace to immerse themselves in these worlds.
The funniest people are often the saddest
We think of funny people, especially professional comedians, as happy and good-natured people. But surprisingly, the funniest people are often the saddest. Their humor is a defense mechanism against the dark thoughts and emotions they constantly resist.
As examples we could name Robin Williams, Jim Carrey, Spike Milligan, Stephen Fry, Bill Hicks, Peter Sellers and many other comedians , who killed themselves, suffered from depression or other serious mental problems.
Comedians are usually extremely intelligent people who can easily see through lies and illusions. High intelligence and susceptibility to depression go hand in hand, because the deeper one thinks and the further one sees, the more unhappy one becomes.
They use their wit to engage the audience and reveal the essence of humanity's true madness. It's a way to cope with the ugly reality.
