Homecoming and the Super Flower Blood Moon
- Details
- Written by Cheryl Richardson
This is the time of year when the birds are full of song, the turkeys are doing their mating dance in the backyard, and the wind carries the scent of lilacs and apple blossoms through the kitchen window.
Sometimes, early in the morning, I close my eyes and listen. I listen to the wind, to the cawing of the crows, to the scratchy calls of the bluejays, and to the melodic sounds of chickadees and goldfinches. As I deepen my breath, I notice a soft breeze brush my cheek and the warmth of the sun on my arm. These experiences are wonderful reminders that our senses are a gateway to presence. When we remove visual distractions by closing our eyes, and tuning into our environment – to what we hear, smell, or feel – we come home to ourselves.
This homecoming is deeply important. As we sit quietly and stay long enough to let the wild thoughts and feelings settle, we gain clarity and access to wisdom and insight. And we remind ourselves of the reality that peace of mind is always just a few deep breaths away.
This is a wonderful day to come home to yourself. Especially given the lunar eclipse of the Super Flower Blood Moon. It’s a powerful time for endings and new beginnings. What needs to be completed in your life? Who or what do you need to say goodbye to? What has run its course or reached its end? Who or what have you outgrown?
As I enjoy this quiet day, I’ll be contemplating these questions in preparation for change. I hope you will, too.
Love,
Cheryl
