An Exciting Thought About Reality

There’s much more to reality than what we can see with our eyes. In fact, some scientists believe that what we perceive as “reality” is just a tiny sliver of what’s actually out there.
For example, imagine you’re looking at a tree. You see the trunk, the branches, the leaves, and the bark. But what you don’t see are the tree’s roots, which are hidden underground. You also don’t see the microscopic bacteria and fungi that live on the tree’s bark. And you can’t see the invisible gases that make up the air around the tree.
In other words, there’s a lot more to the tree – and to reality – than meets the eye.
Some scientists believe that our perception of reality is like looking at a tree through a keyhole. We can see a small part of what’s there, but we’re not able to see the full picture.
Other scientists believe that reality is like an iceberg. Just as an iceberg has a hidden mass that’s much larger than what we can see above the surface of the water, so too is there a hidden reality that’s much larger than what we can perceive with our senses.
Either way, it’s clear that there’s more to reality than what we can see, hear, touch, taste, and smell. And as our scientific knowledge grows, we may find that the reality we thought was so “real” is just a small part of a much bigger picture.
