Why I've Chosen Not to Practice the 8 Mansion Feng Shui Method

What’s the deal with 8 Mansion feng shui?
If you’ve been following or researching up on feng shui, you’ve probably come across the term of Ba Zai feng shui, or 8 Mansion feng shui.
While it is considered a classical feng shui method, it is, where my lineage is concerned, one of the most newbie friendly, but also one of the more ineffective ones. And there’s a couple of reasons.
8 Mansion takes the eight directions and divides it into four lucky or auspicious directions, and four unlucky or inauspicious directions. Where the 8 Mansion is applied to the house is based on the sitting direction of the house, and this also divides it into a west group or an east group. So for those of you who have been doing Gua calculations, you’ve probably heard of the term west group, east group as well.
The tricky bit about using 8 Mansion as a feng shui application is that for a family, for instance, you would have some family members belonging to the east group and some family members belonging to the west group.
The real tricky situation comes when a couple, a married couple, or a committed couple. Let’s say the husband is a west group and the wife is an east group. Then there is no middle ground in finding a feng shui that would work for them.
That is one drawback to 8 Mansions.
Now, there is also some research that came up from some of the feng shui Grandmasters who went back and researched on the ancient texts. The ancient text where 8 Mansion is the more prevalent topic is the text called Ba Zai Min Ji meaning “bright mirror”. And this text apparently has 100 something chapters. However, what many of the Grandmasters, the modern-day Grandmasters realize is that Ba Zai Min Ji talks about 8 Mansion with regards to external feng shui. And even when it comes to the house, they only talk about the door as well as the gates or the pathways and the hallways. There is no mention about using 8 Mansion for inside the house as in the rooms inside the house.
So there are certain feng shui lineages out there that use 8 Mansion more for external feng shui. So if you want to design your gates or water activation outside for my lineage, the 8 Mansion is taught as a theory, but we were told not to use 8 Mansion for application, simply because in many instances it’s not applicable. Even if it is, the result is the weakest out of all the classical feng shui methods.
Also if you have east and west group, it is hard to kind of find a middle ground that would work for the whole family.
On top of that, there was also a main dynasty text that also talks about 8 Mansion as in the direction that comes towards the house externally.
Again, no mention about using 8 Mansion inside. So where 8 Mansion got molded into an internal feng shui method, I have no answers for you there.
What I can tell you is 8 Mansion being the most newbie friendly. This is also the method that I started out when I started researching, and I have found, especially now that I’ve been trained, in other classical feng shui methods, I have found that 8 Mansion actually can put you into positions or feng shui facings that can actually trigger loss and ill health and all that.
So eight mention again, where we are concerned, my lineage is concerned. We don’t apply it.
We know about it, but we don’t use it simply because it’s not effective.
