You work hard for your money. You don’t want to waste it. Yet, you sometimes want the guidance and wisdom of a psychic. I get it. When you are confused about a certain area of your life (like your love life), or perhaps you want something to happen very badly, you are not always clear-headed, and you want the opinion of a third party who has a direct connection to the spiritual realm. So you decide to call a psychic.

I’ve gotten some good advice and information from psychics in the past. I’ve gotten insight into men I’ve dated, I’ve been advised to give up on dead-end situations and I even got a tip once that led me to pursue a successful money-making venture. So speaking with a psychic you trust can be a good thing. But it can also be a waste of money in some scenarios. I don’t want you to blow your money.  Below are some instances where you are probably wasting your money on a psychic.

You Just Got a Reading a Day or Week Ago

Things change all the time, but chances are you’re not going to learn more from a psychic this week than you learned last week. You have to give your reading a chance to develop. Psychics tell you what is likely to happen if you stay on the path you are currently on. Give your life some time to unfold before you go back and ask the same questions again. Also, if you’re getting readings every day or week, you have to ask yourself, are you just looking for someone to tell you what you want to hear? I typically adhere to the three month rule.

You’re Not Asking What You Want to Know

The best way to utilize a psychic reading is to ask what you want to get information about. If you’re paying for the service, you should make sure the conversation covers the topics you want to cover. I once heard someone complain that she really wanted to know about her love life but the psychic kept talking about money. I asked her, ‘did you ask the psychic about your love life?’ And she said, ‘no.’ Hello! If you don’t ask, you don’t get.

You Didn’t Prepare for the Reading

When you get a psychic reading, there is some prep work you can do to have a better experience. It helps to literally get into the mindset for your reading by meditating for a few minutes beforehand so that you are calm and focused on the experience at hand. You might also think about what you want to know. If you feel moved to say a little prayer beforehand, do so. I always ask my Spirit Guides to make sure I hear what they want me to hear.

You Didn’t Record the Reading or Take Notes

Psychics often provide a ton of information, and it’s easy to forget some of it. If you can get a recording of a reading or take notes either during the reading or immediately afterward, you’ll remember more details later. Remember, it’s common for a psychic to tell you something and it not make sense immediately, and later you have an ah-ha moment and think, ‘that’s what she was talking about.’

And of course you can save money on psychics by learning how to trust your own intuition. We all have intuition; we just have to learn how to use it and strengthen it.
