7 Tips For Cultivating A Home Wellness Space

7 Tips For Cultivating A Home Wellness Space

If you’re tired of just surviving in these difficult times and your body is screaming for you to finally start thriving, you should start by improving your habits. An at-home wellness space is beneficial during the times of social distancing and limited in-person interactions. This area will help you reach the right state of mind to finally let go of the habits that don’t serve you. You will turn your attention to those habits that aid your wellbeing, nourish your spirit, and improve your physical and mental health.

How do you want to feel in your space?

Begin by setting an intention for this space. Take out a sheet of paper and note down the answer to this question. How do you want to feel in your wellness space? Write down a list of positive feelings. Free of stress, happier, grateful, content, and so on. Focus on these feelings and think about the activities that will help you feel those feelings.

Define your wellness activities

If you want to know how to organize your wellness space, you need to define its purpose. Therefore, you need to define a list of activities you plan on doing for improved wellness and better wellbeing. Every person has their own idea of a wellness activity, so you should remember your intention and write a list of activities you’d like to practice there. Yoga, meditation, journaling, meditating, drawing, crafting are just some of the activities that will ease the tension, remove stress, and cultivate better habits and routines.

Identify the area for your wellness space

Once you define the intention and the activities you plan on practicing, you need to identify the right location for your wellness space. If your apartment is small, pick a corner that is quiet, full of natural light, and that allows you enough room to move freely. You need space to move if you plan to use yoga as one of the wellness activities. You can even set up your wellness corner in your bedroom because there will be fewer distractions than in the living room. Ideally, you can turn your extra bedroom into the oasis of calm and have everything you need for each one of your desired wellness activities. But, if a quiet corner is all you have, it will also be enough for you to cultivate wellness.

Remove distractions

Once you pick the right area for your wellness space, you need to limit distractions. Distractions are toxic because they can stop you from getting into the right mindset and deter you from your intentions. Some distractions are easier to manage than others. If your phone is interrupting your meditation, put it on silent. If too much sun coming through the window is interrupting your visualization practice, equip your wellness space with roman blinds. If a person is interrupting your daily self-care routine, make sure to define some boundaries with that person. Let them know that you need some time for yourself and ask them kindly to respect that. Clutter is also an immense distraction, so make sure to keep your house and your wellness space clean and tidy.

Bring the space to life with natural elements

Plants are the first thing that pops into our minds when we think of bringing the space to life. They will purify the air, and provide a soothing effect. Plants are great companions to our wellness routines as they will make you feel calmer and closer to nature. If you plan to use your wellness space to journal, read or write, you’ll need a comfy chair and a wooden table. So you’ll introduce wood as a natural element. You can also beautify the area with a landscape photograph that inspires you.

Use soothing scents during your wellness practice

You should also consider using stress-relieving scents that will complement your wellness activities. Give aromatherapy a try until you find the right scent or a mixture of your choice. Test how you respond to sage, peppermint, lavender, cinnamon, jasmine, orange, and other soothing scents. After a while, you’ll probably have a favorite scent and a favorite wellness activity to pair it with.

Add some crystals

The right crystals can also help you focus and heal and are a perfect addition to your wellness space. If you are new to crystals, you will probably be attracted to their beauty. But, apart from being beautiful, each one of them has a number of properties. Beautiful purple amethysts are known to reduce stress. Lapis Lazuli is famous for its cleansing and healing properties as well. Rose quartz helps reduce anxiety, tension, and stress. Learn about other types of crystals and incorporate them into your wellness area to feel their powers.

These seven tips will help you get started with your own wellness space and motivate you to dive into activities perfect for your wellness journey.
