Sabian Symbols Showing the Light of Happiness
Expressed By Rising Above Limiting Conditions

As most of you know, the December 2020 Solstice conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn at 1 Aquarius launched new 20 and 200 year eras. This Full Moon helps us see clearly which roles we want to play and which ones we don’t. Find a fresh view of things, allow your imagination to take flight while doing the work you have to do. Don’t worry about the uncertainty, and be alert and ready to act when it’s time!

I’ll speak more about the bigger picture after the Sabian Symbols. For now, let’s take a closer look at this liberating Full Moon happening at 1:02 am PST on December 15 at 24 Sagittarius/Gemini which opens gateways to a greater happiness despite the temporary disappointments which are forcing us to pull back, plan anew, and stop projecting on to others or accepting others’ projections. For the next two weeks our flexibility is our power and leads us to power.

As this Full Moon has Sun in Sagittarius and Moon in Gemini, the Light of an expanding freedom to dance with our life adventure can be expressed through Gemini’s love of discovering new views and new perspectives. This is the Light of humor and a philosophical approach expressed through the joy of discovering all there is to discover in a new “mind unbound,” free to know all there is to know. The Light of emotional and/or social transference of ideas and truth can now be expressed through new forms of emotional or social expression.

Because Gemini/Sag is the axis of the archetype of the Magician/Questor, we can learn and teach, experiment, see things objectively, and perfect our spiritual understanding of both high and low. Just remember there are many alternatives to examine before making a crucial decision. Open to a broader understanding of higher truths which need to be externalized to the collective, and then pray and meditate on them, spreading them far and wide!

The Sun in Fire and the Moon in Air shows a time of the Distributive Fire (spreading inspiration) of Sagittarius expressing its visions and truth through the curiosity of Distributive Air (spreading ideas) of Gemini. This continues a run of Full Moon themes of getting clear on emotional and social levels of our existence.

At this time, 4 planets are in the first third of their sign, 2 planets are in the second third of their signs, and 4 planets are in the last third of their signs. This indicates a major balanced emphasis in the actional-material field and the individual, mental, and spiritual field, with less emphasis on the social and emotional field, with that emphasis involving how to deal with Jupiter square Saturn productively, which I gave you in part one.

Why Are Full Moons So Important?

At a Full Moon, that which has opened since the previous New Moon surfaces in a public form, and heads toward the culmination and fruition symbolized by the second half of any cycle. First half, birth into form and field. Second half, culmination and completion of the purpose of that cycle.

That’s why it’s important to regard the New and Full Moon charts as “God’s Footprints in Time,” since one follows the other in an unending sequence of births of newer and newer seeds. The New Moons show us the seeds that will flourish under the reflected light of the Full Moon.

Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. We are now in a time of the year when the inner planets are in a 6 month run of making conjunctions with the outer planets. In this chart we have 3 forming oppositions, Mercury opposed Jupiter, the Sun opposed the Moon, and Mars opposed Pluto. This creates 3 “awareness generator” zones, one very broad between 5-18 Gemini/Sagittarius, the second between 22-26 Gemini/Sagittarius, and the third between 30 Capricorn/Cancer and 7 Leo/Aquarius.

Dispositors - What's the Backdrop to the Energies?

The Sun is in Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter in Gemini. The Moon is in Gemini, ruled by Mercury in Sagittarius. Because Mercury and Jupiter are in each other’s signs, they are in a “Mutual Reception,” a very powerful closed circuit of self-reinforcing energies.

Besides the Lunation, Mercury is in Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter. Venus is in Aquarius, ruled by Saturn in Pisces. Mars in Leo is ruled by the Sun which is ruled by Jupiter. Saturn in Pisces is ruled by Jupiter, Uranus in Taurus is ruled by Venus, Pluto in Aquarius is ruled by Saturn, and as usual, Neptune is a “standalone” planet, ruling itself.

That makes Mercury and Jupiter in Mutual Recpetion as the final dispositors ruling all the other planets except for Neptune. Have a sense of humor amidst the tensions of the two Mutable T-squares, be flexible, and used Virgo to demonstrate your power to organize and follow through despite things flying in multiple directions.

By looking at how “chains of dispositors,” “final dispositors,” and “mutual reception” are in play between the planets, we get a clear picture of the backdrop for how each planet operates. The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames

Venus at 10 Aquarius encourages us to plan anew after a disappointment. It can help us “rise above the vicissitudes of life,” and see the bigger picture from an impersonal point of view. As it is sextile Mercury it can provide maximum productivity to the renewal of love promised by Mercury, and bring more faith, adaptability, flexibility and initiative as we learn how to steer the momentum of things.

It makes a forming trine to Jupiter, promising great benefits and new ideas. It makes a “fateful” biseptile to Uranus, activating “fork in the road” events in the Aquarius/Taurus sectors of our charts. Active zones include 9-13 Aquarius, 1-5 Aries, 23-27 Taurus, 14-18 Cancer, 5-9 Virgo, 26-30 Libra, and 18-22 Sagittarius. The Sabian Symbols for the Full Moon

This Full Moon falls at 24 Sagittarius and 24 Gemini. It is said that the third third (decan) of any sign deals with the individual, mental, and spiritual levels of life, and as the Lunation is in the third decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Leo/the Sun (with an added dose of Saturn) and Gemini/Mercury (with an added dose of the Sun).

A special distinction to this Full Moon is the Sun is on the same degree as the December 2020 Total Solar eclipse. That implies we should find the happiness in whatever was shut down these past 4 years by that eclipse, or that we’ll come to a realization about why that had to leave so we can enjoy the happiness we currently have. As this Sag/Gemini axis was also that of the World Teacher/Christfest Full Moon of June 2022, we should see the Light of the form of the world teaching in play in 2022. Some may see how much happier they are than they were in 2022.

Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take. Though I’ve given you a sense of what this is about up to now, here’s where we go into detail.

The Solar degree symbol for the 24th degree of Sagittarius is "A bluebird standing at the door of the house.” In the original notes from the Marc Jones class on the symbols published in The Astrology of Personality, Rudhyar says this degree is one of “the blessings bestowed upon all those who are true to themselves,” “unexpected assistance,” “happiness,” and “sheer good fortune.”

In his Astrological Mandala, he offers that this degree is about “the reward which meets every effort at integration into a social environment for those who remain true to their own selves.” He says the bluebird is a symbol of happiness and “a spiritually oriented mind.” Houses are both symbols of our personality, as well as structures which are part of a community.

He continues “the implication is that its inhabitants are well-adapted, either to the life of the community, or to their … togetherness.” He says that this is a technique for “successful living” where we develop “a consciousness in which peace and happiness dwell.” The offers “there is also a hint that good fortune is going to bless your life,” and states this degree this degree falls in the Span of Detachment in the Act of Group-Integration, and is the technical degree on the emotional-social level of the Scene of Transference.

Dr. Jones says this degree is about “the persisting imminence of real rewards in experience,” and our need “to see and welcome them.” He speaks of “the need for a conscious worthiness of selfhood as the foundation for any self-fulfillment” and our need to capitalize “on the opportunities to be found in everyday reality.”

He offers “there must be a creative alertness to the signs and portents by which the world speaks to (us), or else all personality is lost in an eventual nonentity.” He offers us the keyword FORTUNE, and states when operating in a positive manner, this degree is one of “radiant good will and an ingratiating proficiency of self-interest.”

The Lunar Sabian Symbol for the 24th degree of Gemini is “Children skating on ice.” In the original Jones class notes published in The Astrology of Personality, Rudhyar says this is a degree of “capacity to use every opportunity, even in the hardest of environments, for self-recreation or relaxation” and “appreciation.”

In The Astrological Mandala, he goes on to say that this degree symbolizes “the use of inhibiting circumstances for the development of character and a transcendent approach to the environment.” He says this symbol of Winter has associations with “restrictions imposed… by cold,” where “life is in a state of … inward-turned activity,” but also that “the developing mind can learn to use restrictions and the disciplining power of “cold” external responses to rise about the outer “freeze” and to grow in strength and skill.”

He offers that we learn “rhythmic freedom” (“skating”) by using the most binding situations (“ice”) to demonstrate (our) transcendent capacity for pleasure and self-mobilization.” He states this is a mental technique, because we can triumph over inertia using our mind, and offers this is about “triumph over entropy.” He says this degree falls in the Span of Restlessness, Act of Differentiation, and Scene of Exteriorization on the Emotional-Social level.

Dr. Jones says this is a degree of “the persisting imminence of adventure in experience,” and the danger “in failing to sustain or order the complex of things as they are.” He speaks of “the value of an established reality as a foundation for further refinement of personal capacity and skill,” and that “the satisfaction of a successful self-expression always must remain a dynamic impetus to further achievement, and so never become a static aplomb or a surrender” to less than our best.

He offers us the keyword FUN. He states that when operating in a positive manner, this degree is “soul-satisfying experiment in the infinitely varying channels of possible self-discovery.”

From these symbols it seems we can see the Light of happiness and “sheer good fortune: expressed in having fun refining our skills for self-recreation, or recreation. Here the Light of a radiant good will and expanding joy of integrated relationships expresses through a social or emotional skill taking shape as a consciousness of our worth. This the Light of Fortune expressing through the Form of Fun!

We’re in an Era of Overlapping Capricorn and Aquarius Cycles

As you know by now, we had numerous important long wave conjunctions in January 2020 which were set into motion in March 2020, including a 12 year cycle and a 33 year cycle! Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto all made conjunctions in Capricorn in January and March 2020 which were activated by Mars in March 2020. Mars completed its run at its conjunction with Saturn at 1 Aquarius which also set long wave preliminary Aquarian structures into play which are expanding and currently taking shape for the next 16-17 years. The next few weeks renews that Aquarius pulse, and promises 2024 to be a very “Aquarian” year!

We’re seeing the competition between the Capricorn and Aquarian cycles play out in the world between the regressives and the progressives, between the forces of control and the forces which resist control, and between the materialists and the idealists. The Capricorn cycles will be in play for many years to come, but by mid-century they will wane while the Aquarian cycles will have become dominant.

That “Great Compression” of planets in early 2020 created a very crowded house in a very narrow span of degrees, impacting where we have late Capricorn for many years to come. Add the three conjunctions of Jupiter with Pluto as it transited back and forth over the January and March degree points, and we’ve had a lot of long wave Pluto energies expanded which will show effects over the next decade! TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Tests of Human Redemption

I’ve included this section for many years to keep you all aware of the workings of Divine Mother on our Earth in this Age in Transition. Rather than simply reprint it each month, I created this material as a separate article unto itself a while back. At the 2020 World Teacher Full Moon of Sun in Gemini and Moon in Sagittarius I gave you a universal prayer/meditation offered to us by the Tibetan Master D.K. in April 1945 at the end of the war. Tens of millions around the world do this prayer every Full Moon, tuning into the Whole which we ALL are together. I said it every day for many years, and still say it every Full Moon. (It was a real trip to see eyes suddenly open and/or lightbulbs go on over people’s heads when I did it countless times riding the NYC subways when I lived there in the early 80s!)

In 1976 I changed a few words to make it more universal. For your consideration,

The Great Invocation

From the point of Light within the mind of God
Let Light stream forth into the minds of All,
Let Light descend on Earth

From the point of Love within the heart of God
Let Love stream forth into the hearts of All
May Christ return to Earth

From the center where the Will of God is known
Let Purpose guide the little Wills of All
The Purpose which the Masters know and serve

From the center which we call the Human Race
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

Again, as I’ve offered you many times before, when you see the title "The Christ" if you are so inclined please substitute "World Teacher," "Bodhisattva," "Imam Madhi," "Krishna," “Kristos,” "Avalokiteshvara," "Maitreya," "Messiah," or any other term used to describe this Great Being. And if you substitute “Enlightened Ones” or “Wise Ones” for “Masters” I doubt it would offend anyone.
