Three Truths As We Dance Down the Timestream of Life

Over the years I’ve seen three Truths for all of us as we walk the road of Life.
They apply equally to everyone, regardless of age, culture, gender, nationality, or where we live. Over the years I’ve tried to come up with another, and asked countless people if they could, without success. If you can come up with a fourth truth not derived from one of these three, please feel free to offer your take. As noted below, these are not the 3 Truths from Light on the Path, but rather something I've observed my entire life.
These truths have been put various ways, they're all simple and straightforward, and have nothing to do with religion or local belief systems.
1. All forms pass away.
So don’t get too stressed, upset, or lose your equilibrium during the changes. Don’t get too attached to suffering over difficulties, and don’t get too attached to enjoying the pleasures. Take each moment for what it is, knowing you’re in motion.
Both our problems and those things we enjoy will eventually change and pass, so chill out and don’t take any of it too personally. Live life to the fullest while not getting stuck by clinging to habits in thought, feeling, or action that lead to suffering.
2. The Golden Rule works.
Also known as the Law of Karma, or “What goes around, comes around.” Whether we understand it or not, we’re here to generate as much positive effort, thought, and feeling as we can in each moment so that we’re generating good energy for the future. This is the Cosmic Law which brings each of the opportunity to transform evil into good, negativity into positivity, and guarantees that no effort is ever unrewarded, even though we may not see the larger workings of the eternal law of cause and effect.
That’s why how we act, feel, think, and aspire creates the tendencies for these to manifest in the future. The problem with being humans is that we usually have very short attention spans and don’t see the bigger picture of what we’ve set into motion and what we are setting into motion in our lives. Still, the Law works in mysterious ways whether we perceive it or not, and if this second Truth actually works for all of us, then it is easy to see that a third Truth is...
3. Love is the way.
Since Truth number one is inevitable in our dualistic impermanent system, and Truth number two is an expression of a “karmic Law” governing the field of sensory manifestation and creating patterns which persist through space and time, then this third Truth to embrace, learn, and BE Love, is the only sane way to live.
Certainly it’s obvious that it’s impossible to like all things and all people and all circumstances. However, if we greet all of our experiences with as much love as we can summon in each moment, whether for ourselves or others or the human condition, eventually we will be able to look back and see that regardless of circumstances, we have had nothing but loving experiences. And truly, if “what goes around comes around” then love is the only sane way to live, since life’s passages force us to choose to love or suffer.
Even though some believe in the superstition that love and suffering go together, that’s really not the case as that’s just weird, and somewhat sado-masochistic. We can learn how to be loving in the face of suffering, and to paraphrase Ram Dass, life is about learning to break the link between pain and suffering. Life can be pretty painful, but we do not have to suffer.
There's nothing here on Earth that warrants us being in a non-loving state. Not all things are likeable, but we cannot be continually thrown off by life’s changes or its unfortunate experiences. This existence is about learning to love without the usual illusions and fears associated with the human conceptions of “love.”
It’s easy to choose to be loving in the moment, and with practice, be in a continuously loving state. And because our bodies, feelings, and mental constructs are constantly changing, it’s not like there’s any other game in town. I’ll leave you with a quote which has become a bit of folk wisdom the past 50+ years: “The love you take is equal to the love you make.”
ps. – These three trust of course are not identical to The Three Eternal Truths of Human Existence, even though there are parallels. All six of are true, have interesting correspondences, and the Truths from Light on the Path approach our existence in this evolutionary scheme from a different level. In any case, all six together may provide you a sense of how things are and how you can engage your divine power to steer your life toward an enlightened communion with God, Source, Self, and others.
