I last gave these to you 11 years ago. They are as true today as they were then, and will be true for as long as this impermanent world is inhabited by humans.

Given the chaos and tensions pervading our world, these three human Truths can serve as a guiding light in the darkness. These Truths may make living through our tumultuous times a little easier. They apply to all of us, past, present, or future, regardless of space, time, gender, or cultural differences.

In response to comments from long ago, after observing these three human Truths in action over my entire life, I still have not found a fourth "truth" that isn't related to one of these three. If any of you can come up with a fourth truth not derived from one of these three, it’ll be a great launch pad for an interesting discussion. And in the spirit of eternal jocularity, or the Divine Play that Vedic scholars call "Leela," I’ll even entertain entertaining suggestions.

These are simple and straightforward, and they have nothing to do with religion or local belief systems.

1. All forms pass away.

That means we cannot get attached to suffering life’s difficulties, nor get too attached to enjoying pleasures. We have to learn to detach from the ups and downs as we go through our eternal journey. Everything changes, and over time the problems and the enjoyments pass, so try to be a little dispassionate as you move through the intersections of pleasure and pain. Just chill out and don’t take any of it too personally.

Remembering that just about everything we perceive is impermanent, we can live life fully while not getting stuck in the hopes and fears of our thoughts, feelings, and actions which lead between pleasure and pain. We do not have to suffer for even a moment, and this truth helps us live so that the thieves of the past and future don’t steal our present.

2. The Golden Rule works.

Yes, as we do, feel, and think so we create effects in the future. This Truth is also known as “What goes around, comes around.” Though we often do not see the turning of the Wheels of Karma in terms of the big picture, just because we don’t see effects doesn’t mean they’re not happening. The Law of Cause and Effect is there whether we see it or not.

Mostly people have a very short attention span which makes it difficult to see the bigger picture of the karmic cause-and-effect cycles of our lives. Still, the Law of Karma, or “Law of Compensation,” works in mysterious ways whether we perceive it or not. And because this is the second Truth which applies to all of us, then it’s easy to see that the third Truth is...

3. Love is the way.

Since the first Truth addresses the issue of all forms passing away at some point which is inevitable in our impermanent system, and the second Truth addresses the Karmic Law governing what comes and goes in this world of sensory manifestation while creating patterns that persist across space and time, then this third Truth, to BE the Love we always are and always will be, is the only sane way to live.

It is a fact that in our world, many things are not likeable and should not be embraced. However, if we are the Love we aspire to know, then we can greet experiences with as much Love as we can generate.

If we live as a loving Being expressing our Love the best we’re able, eventually we’ll be able to look back and see that regardless of whether we were in agreeable or disagreeable circumstances, we will have had nothing but loving experiences. And if "what goes around comes around," then love is the only sane way to live, since we will have chosen to BE the Love we are and don’t have to suffer the alternative.

This is where it’s important to remember that the religious and cultural superstition that love and suffering go together is a human made delusion. We do not have to suffer one moment longer than we choose to. It’s clear our task as Eternal Soul/Spirits having a human experience is to learn to be loving in the face of suffering so that we can break the link between pain and suffering. Life can be pretty painful, but we do not have to suffer.

Nothing on Earth should be able to pull us into a non-loving state. There’s plenty we will never like, but as our nature is Love, we have to train our personalities to choose to love without the usual conditions on what we will love. That is both easy and difficult. However, since at some point all of us check out, it’s truly the only way to live. Here I’ll cite some very popular guys who opined that “The love you take is equal to the love you make.”

With all the radical changes going on, with the acceleration of the time stream, with all the pressures we're all under on a daily basis, remember these from time to time. There are things beyond the fluctuations of the white noise of daily living.
