Make Progress With Inner Authority.

Here’s my spiritual guidance for July/August 2023, covering the month beginning with the Cancer new moon at 7.32pm on July 17th (in the UK).

Spiritual guidance for July/August 2023 from the Tarot

The element of earth is still very much uppermost this month as the Tarot moves us upwards through the suit to work with the Five of Disks, subtitled Worry. There’s no avoiding it, there are going to be disturbances over the next four weeks in those areas on which you usually depend for your sense of security and stability.

Cause for concern could appear around any of these areas, your health, finances, work, family and close relationships, and creativity. However, you do have a choice about how you respond to this and it all depends on where you’re deriving your sense of authority and security from.

You can allow the fear to take hold and lose yourself in the worry whirlwind, leading to a sense of helplessness and victimhood to external circumstances as you imagine the worst possible scenarios playing out in the future. This way lies a mire of despair from which it will be difficult to extract yourself. Or, you can root yourself deeply into your own inner sovereignty and authority, choosing to act, live, and create from love. Where focus goes the energy flows, so this month it’s all about ensuring you’re clearly aligned to the moment and it’s positive potential, not comparing current problems to past situations or projecting ahead into future disasters that may never come.

The astrological correspondences of this card, Mercury in Taurus, indicate blocked communication, so you could find yourself holding back on speaking about whatever is worrying you because you either don’t know quite how to say it or how it will be received. This card urges you to reach out to someone anyway, to break this negative holding pattern. As they always say, a problem shared is a problem halved. From personal experience, I know that a problem shared and talked through often turns out not to be a real problem at all, just a figment of my insecure imagination. Or I am offered help and support that I never knew was available to me. As an independent Sun in Aries I’m particularly bad at asking for help, but I’m having to consciously shift this tendency as our ability to flourish is pointing so obviously to strength in community and shared responsibilities. So please don’t struggle on alone.

Along those same lines of communication, both personally and globally, you’re likely to hear voices speaking out on the subject of inclusivity. Anywhere there are people or other than human life forms being marginalized, excluded, or ignored there’s going to be pressure building to force change. As I’ve mentioned so many times before, we cannot carry on in the old ways, they may have worked (arguably!) in the past but they certainly don’t address the immediate concerns of this moment. Look at that beautiful shade of gold emerging from the darkness on the edges of the card. You’re promised positive developments and practical, real transformation in the material realms as a result of the upheavals and unrest that happen now. Even more so according to where you choose to place your energy. As long as you can maintain a positive attitude and release the entrenched thinking that arises when fear shifts you into survival gear. You are a powerful co-creator when you tap into your inner authority and live from that unshakeable and loving centre.

Not only are we being offered the opportunity to transform the values by which we manage our work, finances, health, and communication, I believe that for those on the spiritual path there is something more indicated here. As the influx of high frequencies from the cosmos continues, we are being asked to integrate them fully into our physical bodies. As I look at this month’s card, I see actual physical changes happening in our bodies at the deepest levels to enable us to hold more and more light. Watch for changes in your body as it responds to and adapts to this process. You may feel tired, unwell, or bombarded as your physicality catches up with your soul, so take good care of yourself and ground well and often. I also sense a need for more communication with your higher self, guides and cosmic intelligence. What do they want you to hear? Have you, perhaps, been ignoring the nudges to listen to them? Or have you heard the message and not acted on it? If so you’ll be feeling stuck and struggling, so create some time and space for spiritual communion this month and it will open up new potential pathways forward for you.

Guidance for July/August 2023 from astrology

The moon’s North node moves into the fiery “me” sign of Aries just as this Cancer new moon activates a powerful T square between the North node and Pluto in Capricorn. There you have, perfectly illustrated, upheaval and outspoken-ness against outworn structures and approaches already highlighted by the Five of Disks. Drastic changes are being demanded. On the 27th of July, the planets form a wonderfully named configuration called the Finger of God. It literally points to a transmission from the heavenly spheres about how to move forwards in unity. All you need to do is listen. From then on, the planets are supporting you to work hard on improving personal and environmental health and well-being in the material realm, clarifying problems and identifying issues along the way, to clear the way for a fresh start with the next new moon on August 16th.
