Spirit Message - The True Meaning of Easter
- Details
- Written by John Cali
Easter is, obviously, a major religious celebration. It marks Jesus’s resurrection from death. But the true meaning of Easter goes beyond the obvious.
Here are a few random thoughts about Easter:
- Easter is very important to me. It’s a second chance. ~ Reba McEntire
Easter is the demonstration of God that life is essentially spiritual and timeless. ~ Charles M.Crowe - The very first Easter taught us this: Life never ends and love never dies. ~ Kate McGahan
- Easter says you can put truth in a grave, but it won’t stay there. ~ Clarence W. Hall
- God loves each of us as if there were only one of us. ~ Saint Augustine
- Jesus gave us spring as a reminder of how beautiful life can be after death. ~ Unknown
- Easter is meant to be a symbol of hope, renewal, and new life. ~ Janine di Giovanni
- Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in the books alone, but in every leaf in springtime. ~ Martin Luther
Spirit
The religious significance of Easter is only a small part of its greater meaning.
In your world today, people are turning away from religion. And for good reason. Religion no longer serves the needs of the many. Instead, it has degenerated into serving the needs of the few. Your Roman Catholic Church is one of many examples of that.
We are not “picking on” the Roman church. There are plenty of others we could also point to.
If religion, or any spiritual practice, no longer serves you (if it ever did), then it’s time to move on.
As someone Johnny and Berna know is fond of saying, “Life’s a bitch and then you die.”
For years, we’ve said just the opposite—life is supposed to be fun. We’ve been criticized for saying that. But it’s true—it is what God/Goddess wants for you—to move through your years in peace with joy and love for all life.
If you can see your lives this way—and more and more of you are learning and living this—then your total existence becomes a smooth, flowing adventure in remembering who you truly are.
When you remember who you are, life—and death—become one joyfully flowing experience. Life is fun. Why? Because there is no death—only continuing life, always and literally forever.
You rejoice when a baby is born. Yet that baby has “died” to its former experience in its mother’s womb. Life goes on.
In the same way, when that baby becomes an adult—when its life in the womb of physical experience comes to an end, it is literally born again in death.
Life is eternal before, during, and after your physical experience. There is no death.
That is the true meaning of Jesus’s message and his resurrection. That is the true meaning of Easter.
