Berna and I have been discussing dementia lately. We have folks among our family and friends with dementia.

It’s so common today, and I’m sure many of you know someone affected by it.

As Johnny said, dementia is a common condition in your current world. It was not always that way.

The reasons it is common today are varied. But one of the main reasons is so many humans expect it to be. And many also expect it to happen to them, and not always in that period of life you call “old age.”

Strong expectations always create the conditions (physical, mental, etc.) needed for the expectations to manifest.

We could go on about this at length. But today we simply wish you to cautiously observe in yourselves your expectations.

You’ve heard it said, “Expect the worst, and that’s what you’ll get. Expect the best, and that’s what you’ll get.”

Now let us move on to another aspect of dementia.

We and other spirit guides and teachers have often said there is a good reason for everything that happens to you in this human lifetime.

So, you might ask, “How can there ever be any good reason for dementia (or any other “bad” condition)?

As we’ve said many times over the years, each of you have a good reason for choosing to incarnate again into your modern world. Every person’s reason is unique to that person.

So, for example, many of you choose your particular human family because that is where you can do the most good in this lifetime.

When your time on earth is done, as your soul will decide, you simply move on. You return to the home you never truly left, except in your imagination.

However, some of those with dementia (whatever the physical reasons for the dementia) are not ready to physically leave those they love. So they choose (again, at the soul level) to remain physically with their loved ones. And, at the same time, in a limited mental and emotional condition, such as dementia. Why? Their work is not done yet.

But even in the debilitating state of dementia, their physical presence often offers opportunities for healing to those around them. Perhaps opportunities they would have never had otherwise.

There are also other reasons souls would choose dementia in their temporary human forms.
