Mercury goes retrograde at 5 Gemini on May 10. Today we take a look at some primary factors in the coming retrograde.

An Overview of the Retrograde

The coming retrograde will give us a new look at recent signals and information that we sent or received, and things from the past will be reviewed, re-examined, reevaluated, or understood differently. We can get a new look at our ideas, ways we’re communicating and understanding what others are communicating to us, and get new insights into all things related to Gemini and Taurus from now through early June.

We will all get another look at recent information, or see “social propaganda” in a different light. We now leave a time of finding relative “transcendent security” through somewhat enjoyable conditions, and this one begins by giving us a first look and/or a roundabout path to some way of externalizing what we believe needs reforming.

The next 3 weeks will give us a new take on emergent developments, and what must be reviewed and released, or researched and rehearsed to prepare us to move forward in early June. Because of the “back to the future” quality of Mercury retrograde, we may also get glimpses of how the last 3 months have given us a new look at how our past has fed our future since we began to take a new look at how we’ve been “refined and enriched” since February.

2021’s Mercury retrograde lessons involved commitments, seeing where we and others are at on the evolutionary ladder, and leaving elements of our past behind. We pruned and shaped our expression, learned how to build ideas, and then evaluated how well we learned the lessons of moving between heart power and mind power to reconstruct and/or repair something, including seeing how things came to be as they are/were. We learned to alternate between “hard power and soft power” as we moved through paying our dues and being transformed in the process. This year we’ll get new insights into many of the Air ideas we incorporated last year and find new ways to apply them practically.

So we enter a time of review, reflection, rehearsal, and new angles of focus on our perceptions, others’ perceptions, how ideas are communicated, and the power of social propaganda. Consider this retrograde period a chance to round out our Gemini and Taurus functions in some important ways. Mercury retrograde is great for taking a new look at past actions, feelings, ideas, and people to come to a different perspective about how these impacted our lives since then. As per all retrogrades, we’re done with the initial approach where “the stone was thrown into the pond,” and now enter a time when the ripples will return to source in multiple ways.

Mercury Retrograde Is In A Consistent Element Emphasis

Mercury retrograde element patterns repeat over the years. In the “past as prologue” department, 2018 was entirely in Fire signs until the last one, which paralleled 2012. 2019 featured two Water to Water retrogrades, paralleling 2013. So in 2019 we moved from feeling to feeling in March, from inspiration to feeling in July, and feeling to feeling in Oct-Nov.

In 2020 we moved from Water to Air in the Feb-March retrograde, from Water to Water in June-July, and Water to Air in October-November, paralleling 2014, except then all 3 retrogrades began in Water and went back to Air. In 2021 all three retrogrades began in the last decan of an Air sign, and retrograded back to the middle decan of that sign. 2021 paralleled 2015, which also had all three Mercury retrograde periods in Air signs, and all trine each other, except they began in the second decan and ended in the first.

2022 brings us three Mercury retrograde periods. All three begin in early Air signs, and end in late Earth signs. the Jan-Feb RX begins in Air and ends in Earth. While the January 2016 retrograde had that, the other two began in Earth and ended in Earth. So this year we begin all three Mercury retrogrades in the associative element of Air and wind up in the practical element of Earth.

A Bit More

In the next 3 weeks, we can see what life has prepared for us since the last Mercury retrograde in January-February 2022. The next 3 weeks are a good time to take a look at what you think you know and how you came to that understanding. Find alternative views regarding how you interpret or communicate ideas and perspectives, and see how things can be misinterpreted based in the language being used.

This is a look back at prior ideas and discoveries related to actions which came to us in the past. We can now look at how we and others communicate from different angles of approach to find ways to reform whatever we need to, or externalize our “sympathy” in efficient ways. If necessary, sound the call, or find new ways of articulating something which needs reforming. While Mercury is retrograde in the Air sign of Gemini, review relationships and close connections to see how it’s changed your view, and when it’s in the Earth sign of Taurus, review what you value and why you value it to understand your wisdom from a different angle.

So welcome to many things being reviewed or coming back up from your subconscious mind or your connection to the collective these next three weeks thanks to the retrograde. This one allows us to review and get a new look at how we’re using Gemini and Taurus in our lives, and review how we’ve moved forward since February. The retrograde is a great time for new insights into how we’ve been guided to our Souls, as prelude to clearer guidance from early June forward.

Summing It Up

For all of us, the next several weeks offer glimpses of future visions which will open many doors of understanding and renewal in our view. This will give us a review of the knowledge we began to acquire between April and July 2020 when Venus was retrograde in Gemini, going direct at 6 Gemini in June. As that information involve our social interactions and how we could communicate certain values, this review should help us see how those actions created what we’re considering now. It begins with a reconsideration of some Gemini ideas we chased between July 2020 and December 2021 when Venus again went retrograde.

This gives a chance to see how well our efforts have succeeded the past two years in allowing ourselves to grow in our knowledge so we can do needed “reform work” in the present. Find a new way to research, rehearse, or renew knowledge. We are again reviewing our past so we may discover a new perspective on how to communicate something.

Renewals, returns, reconnections, reunions, and a sense of completion with glimpses of a new life are promised by this retrograde. And of course, more on this Mercury retrograde period will come over the next few days, including Sabian Symbols, Jones Pattern, aspects and more!

Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames

Because Venus was retrograde in Gemini in 2012 and 2020, this Mercury retrograde period will bring echoes of many things we discovered about life and relationships in those years. And because often Mercury retrograde periods give us roundabout looks at potential futures, this one can provide a window into what will be awakened by Uranus in 2024 and 2025 when it transits this retrograde span in late Taurus and early Gemini, as well as future Venus retrograde periods in early Gemini in 2028 and 2036.
