Sabian Symbols Showing the Light of Inner Guidance Expressed Through Seeing The Bigger Picture.
This coming Full Moon is the twenty-second since the December 2020 Solstice conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn at 1 Aquarius which launched new 20 and 200 year eras.
This one helps us synthesize many things into a more comprehensive overview of our protection, or helps accelerate our growth by assuming a responsibility which may seem beyond our ability. This one helps us get to the heart of things as we free ourselves from ghosts of the past by reconnecting to Source.
I’ll speak more about the bigger picture after the Sabian Symbols. For now, let’s take a closer look at this educative, refining, finalizing, and innovative Lunation which makes it easy to see what needs eliminating and how to let go of ideas which no longer serve the bigger picture. This helps us see “the Light of Humility,” and opens the door to remembering what used to inspire us, and reconnect with our higher ideals. This begins a review of past disappointments which have led us to unexpected gifts and blessings.
As the Full Moon fulfills the themes of the previous New Moon, we can use the power of synthesizing multiple point of view, some of which don’t mesh very well, and see how the strength and resilience we’ve cultivated these past weeks is helping us see to the core of things. This is a time of adjustment, innovation, organization or reorganization with an eye to getting back to Source.
The Sun in Earth and the Moon in Water shows a time of the mutable Earth (practical experience) of Virgo (precise and efficient refinement of methods) expressing its need for efficient service through the mutable Water (feelings and experiences) of Pisces. This continues a run of Full Moon themes of getting clear on the actional and material levels of our existence.
In this chart, 3 planets are in the first third of their signs, 4 planets are in the second third of their signs, and 3 planets are in the last third of their signs. This indicates a fairly balanced time, with a slight emphasis on the social/emotional field and a balance between the individual, mental, and spiritual field and the actional-material field.
Why Are Full Moons So Important?
At a Full Moon, that which has opened since the previous New Moon surfaces in a public form, and heads toward the culmination and fruition symbolized by the second half of any cycle. First half, birth into form and field. Second half, culmination and completion of the purpose of that cycle.
That’s why it’s important to regard the New and Full Moon charts as “God’s Footprints in Time,” since one follows the other in an unending sequence of births of newer and newer seeds. The New Moons show us the seeds that will flourish under the reflected light of the Full Moon.
Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. We are now in a time of the year when the inner planets have made or are making oppositions to Pluto, Saturn, Neptune, Jupiter, and Uranus. This chart features three forming oppositions along two axes of “the Tension of Opposites.” We have the Moon conjunct Neptune, with both opposed the Sun generating awareness encompassing the area between 17-26 Virgo/Pisces, and Mercury opposed Jupiter, generating a field of awareness between 5-10 Aries/Libra. These areas and planets are the drivers of our “awareness generator” for the coming two weeks.
Because we have Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto all at the end of their signs, every Full Moon opposition in the last decan of their signs has made special evolutionary configurations with these spiritual heavyweight planets. This year alone we’ve had Full Moons at 28 Cancer/Capricorn, 28 Leo/Aquarius, 28 Virgo/Pisces, 27 Libra/Aries, 26 Scorpio/Taurus, and 24 Sagittarius/Gemini. The run ended last month at 20 Aquarius/Leo.
All of these created configurations with Neptune and Pluto in 2022. Jupiter conjuncted Neptune from the March Equinox through the second week of May, so it too figured into the Full Moon configurations in those months. When Saturn entered the last decan of Aquarius in early March, it too created configurations with each successive Full Moon since then up to last months’ Leo/Aquarius Full Moon since it configures in the “Axis of Awareness.”
Dispositors - What's the Backdrop to the Energies?
The Sun is in Virgo, its home sign, making Mercury its ruler, and the Moon is in Pisces, making Jupiter its ruler. Mercury is in Libra, making Venus in Virgo its ruler and creating a “Mutual Reception,” a very powerful closed circuit of self-reinforcing energy. Jupiter is in Aries, making Mars its ruler. Mars is in Gemini, ruled by Mercury.
Moving out, Saturn in Aquarius rules itself, Uranus in Taurus is ruled by Venus and therefore Mercury, and Pluto in Capricorn is ruled by Saturn. As usual, Neptune is a “standalone” planet, ruling itself. That means the mutual reception rules everything except Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto. That brings us to two “final dispositors,” and the mutual reception ruling everything else.
By looking at how “chains of dispositors,” “final dispositors,” and “mutual reception” are in play between the planets, we get a clear picture of the backdrop for how each planet operates. You can find out more about dispositors in general, chains of dispositors, and mutual reception by going to Astrology Class – What Is A Dispositor and What Is Mutual Reception Between Two Planets?
The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames
Venus is a strong force behind the scenes due to the mutual reception, and its tredecile to Uranus will bring unexpected serendipity for those who know how to put the down times to good use. Though Venus is said not to be comfortable in Virgo, it should help redirect our view to past inspiration so we can adjust, reconnecting to source as we figure out what fits where as things slip away. The tredecile favors unexpected beneficial encounters with people.
If you want to focus your ability to attract better friends and relations in the future, please consider getting your copy of my new book The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames. It is the most comprehensive book on Venus ever written, and explains why we attract who we do and how to create more satisfying relationships in the future. You will understand the foundations of long term healthy relationships and friendships, why Soul Mates come into our lives, and how to know the difference between a Soul Mate and our Twin Flame. Even if you’re not looking for a partner, this book will explain why certain people with certain traits came into your life and what they taught you about yourself.
It has chapters on the qualities of each sign’s natural mate, the qualities of Venus in each sign, and when crucial choices and changes are made, affecting who we attract in the future. It was written for both astrologers and lay people, and as it has a thousand gems for better relationships, with self, others, and Source, please consider getting your copy by going to the link above! (And when you’re done, please leave a review on Amazon, since it helps the book and all other books on astrology as well!)
The Sabian Symbols for the Full Moon
This Full Moon falls at 18 Virgo and 18 Pisces. It is said that the second third (decan) of any sign deals with the social and emotional levels of life, and as the Lunation is in the second decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Capricorn and Cancer.
Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take. Though I’ve given you a sense of what this is about up to now, here’s where we go into detail.
The Solar Sabian symbol for the 18th degree of Virgo is “An Ouija board.” In the original notes from the Marc Jones class on the symbols published in The Astrology of Personality, Rudhyar says this degree is one of “human desire for contact with the beyond,” ‘inquiry,” “restless questioning of superficial facts of being,” and “immature curiosity.”
In The Astrological Mandala, he says this degree involves “the ability to contact deeper recesses of the unconscious psyche and sensitiveness to psychic intimations and omens.” He states the Ouija board is a divination device, where “certain states of threshold consciousness are stimulated by such a use, and what the experiences produces many vary greatly in quality and in origin.”
He continues “the release of unconscious material has lost the explosive force” of the preceding symbol, “yet at this stage there is still no conscious and willful control over what reaches the ego-consciousness.” He offers this is a transition point of openness to the unknown where our “inner guidance” requires we “correctly evaluate what or who does the guiding.” He states this falls in the Span of Experimentation and is the synthesizing degree of the actional level of Characterization in the Act of Stabilization.
According to Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, the degree is one of “the completeness with which (we are) able to see our experience both steadily and whole,” representing “effective anticipation or a true rational divination.” He says “the inner comprehension becomes articulate in outer form whenever a practical judgment is allowed to order it, and the individual then begins to realize that coming events have a myriad of signatures on which (we) can count.”
He continues that we master life “through our creative sensitiveness to the illimitable potentials,” and gives us the keyword ACUMEN. He states that when operating in a positive manner, this degree is “cleverness in making use of everyday insights and intimations.”
The Lunar Sabian Symbol for the 18th degree of Pisces is "A gigantic tent.” In the original Jones class notes from The Astrology of Personality, Rudhyar says this is a degree of "reinforcement of faith which can open up a new environment,” “a revision of ideas back to source,” and “critical survey of life.”
In The Astrological Mandala he states the keynote is "the collective appeal of a well-staged and exciting display of skill and/or oratory.” He offers that regardless of the context of the imagery, “what takes place is the use of personal achievement and conviction to bring a crowd to a state of enthusiasm sufficient to make it forget its boredom with everyday routine or its familiar sins of commission or omission.”
He says at this stage of the sequence, an individual and a collectivity “are brought together in a significant performance which subtly strengthens the communal spirit directly or indirectly.” He finishes by offering this symbol tells us “the time has come for us to dare to present ourselves and our works to their community for applause, or for the purpose of attracting a following. What is suggested is public self-dramatization.” He says it falls in the span of Protection and is the synthesizing degree on the Actional level of Perpetuation in the Act of Capitalization.
According to Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, this degree is a symbol of our ability to see our experience in its wholeness, “dramatized here by the circus as representing an utterly naïve intensification of self-consciousness.” He continues “the totality of life is brought to some single center in every moment of true excitement or total sharing of skills and risks,” with renewed insights about how to put our world in order for our ultimate “on-going … and immediate entertainment.”
He offers us the keyword APPORTIONMENT. We are told that when positive, the degree is "a genius for organizing divergent capabilities in a common cause.”
These symbols imply that during the next two weeks the Light will lead us to deeper recesses of our conscious and subconscious minds where we can take inner guidance as we learn practical judgment and mastering life through our “creative sensitiveness to the illimitable potentials.” This may manifest as a revision of some of our ideas “back to source,” or even as an ability to see the whole picture and how to organize everything toward a “common cause.”
The Sun is in Virgo, where we learn through using insights and understanding signals to break out of superstitions. We are now growing through actional forms of being educated in forms of Divine Discrimination, seeing how the parts relate to the whole. The Moon in Pisces expresses our education in forms of active forgiveness, compassion, and blessing some ghosts to be washed down the Timestream. It also allows us to put our view of things in front of others so that we may demonstrate our self-consciousness which by “seeing whole” opens up a “new environment.”
We’re in an Era of Overlapping Capricorn and Aquarius Cycles
As you know by now, we had numerous important long wave conjunctions in January 2020 which were set into motion in March 2020, including a 12 year cycle and a 33 year cycle! Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto all made conjunctions in Capricorn in January and March 2020 which were activated by Mars in March 2020. Mars completed its run at its conjunction with Saturn at 1 Aquarius which also set long wave preliminary Aquarian structures into play which are expanding and currently taking shape.
That “Great Compression” of planets in early 2020 created a very crowded house in a very narrow span of degrees, impacting where we have late Capricorn for many years to come. Add the three conjunctions of Jupiter with Pluto as it transited back and forth over the January and March degree points, and we’ve had a lot of long wave Pluto energies expanded which will show effects over the next decade! If you’re wondering how this Great Compression and those to come will impact us, please check out the linked articles on the bottom of Part 1 of this series published yesterday.
The wave that began April 2020 and was given wings in December has taken clearer shape during the time Saturn occupied 7-14 Aquarius in 2021. During early 2021, Jupiter gave us an expansive view of all of Aquarius, and then passed through the Transfiguration Zone in late April and early May, again in early August when retrograde, and a final time in December, giving us three different experiences of “graduation into a new realm of Being” transforming our lives so we can see how we are related to other Light Beings in the collective field. We now get to enter a new promise of how we fit into the whole.
TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Tests of Human Redemption
I’ve included this section for many years to keep you all aware of the workings of Divine Mother on our Earth in this Age in Transition. Rather than simply reprint it each month, I created this material as a separate article unto itself a while back which I’ve just updated. If you want to know more about the vast spiritual field coaxing us toward a great redemption of the promise of Life itself, please take a new look at TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Spiritual Lessons of 2022. We have now entered a long period of getting over our prejudices and preconceptions, and approaching others from an angle of “the fellowship of humanity.” At this time, many are discovering inner powers, as well as “Divine Help when human efforts seem to fail.”
*********
At the 2020 World Teacher Full Moon of Sun in Gemini and Moon in Sagittarius I gave you a universal prayer/meditation offered to us by the Tibetan Master D.K. in April 1945 at the end of the war. Tens of millions around the world do this prayer every Full Moon, tuning into the Whole which we ALL are together. I said it every day for many years, and still say it every Full Moon. (It was a real trip to see eyes suddenly open and/or lightbulbs go on over people’s heads when I did it countless times riding the NYC subways when I lived there in the early 80s!)
In 1976 I changed a few words to make it more universal. For your consideration,
The Great Invocation
From the point of Light within the mind of God
Let Light stream forth into the minds of All,
Let Light descend on EarthFrom the point of Love within the heart of God
Let Love stream forth into the hearts of All
May Christ return to EarthFrom the center where the Will of God is known
Let Purpose guide the little Wills of All
The Purpose which the Masters know and serveFrom the center which we call the Human Race
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
Again, as I’ve offered you many times before, when you see the title "The Christ" if you are so inclined please substitute "World Teacher," "Bodhisattva," "Imam Madhi," "Krishna," “Kristos,” "Avalokiteshvara," "Maitreya," "Messiah," or any other term used to describe this Great Being. And if you substitute “Enlightened Ones” or “Wise Ones” for “Masters” I doubt it would offend anyone.
See you soon with part 3 covering aspects, planetary sequencing, and other important factors in this Full Moon.
