-Sabian Symbols Showing the Light of Breaking
Away from the Past Expressed As Bridging Gaps-

As most of you know, the December 2020 Solstice conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn at 1 Aquarius launched new 20 and 200 year eras. This Lunation helps us release the past, grow into a new public persona, and turn a huge corner in our relationships.

I’ll speak more about the bigger picture after the Sabian Symbols. For now, let’s take a closer look at this stabilizing, regenerative, activating and hard-edged Lunar eclipse which will put all of us through major losses and gains these next 4 months! This reinforces the year lessons about finding new answers and new methods when the old ones don’t work any more, and gives us a new look at the new life we awakened to this past Summer. This one continues to help us grow through “redeeming promises” demonstrated as seeing beyond “life and death processes” as we focus on rebirth.

This eclipse will take away all that is no longer a part of our magnetic field. When appropriate, be a humanitarian and help others to back off the edge. Saturn’s on its SD degree, providing a platform for demonstrating “practical compassion” as part of our awakening to a life renewal. This will help us focus on our purposes for doing or not doing something. We are still learning to do our own thing in our own way, and allow others the same. When we know what our responsibilities are and aren’t, there is a peace in simply doing what we’re supposed to be doing.

Because the Full Moon fulfills the themes of the previous New Moon, in this case the recent New Moon Solar eclipse at 22 Libra, we’re taking a new look at what we care about and how we nourish those who are in our care. Many themes related to that eclipse will be set into motion when it’s ruler Venus crosses 22 Libra at the end of November.

As this Full Moon has Sun in Scorpio and Moon in Taurus, the Light of deep social and/or emotional connections can be expressed through Taurus’ sense of enjoying the best life has to offer us on our own terms. Because Taurus/Scorpio is the axis of the archetype of the Warrior/Guardian, we can be the stable focus we want, enjoying ourselves as we know when to advance, when to retreat, when to hold the line, and when to adapt. Guard boundaries and resources, and remember not to clutch at disappearing forms.

The Sun in Water and the Moon in Earth shows a time of the Fixed Water (stable if intense experience) of Scorpio expressing its concentrated magnetism through the Fixed Earth (grounded stable enjoyment) of Taurus. Because Scorpio and Taurus are so strong with EIGHT oppositions across all 3 decans of those signs, this one will bring a laser focus to our houses where the oppositions are happening. This continues a run of Full Moon themes of getting clear on the emotional and social levels of our existence.

At this time, 3 planets are in the first third of their sign, 4 planets are in the second third of their signs, and 3 planets are in the last third of their signs. This indicates a slight emphasis on the social/emotional levels of life with a balance between the actional-material and individual, mental, and spiritual levels of life. Of note is the Spiritual Triad occupying the end of their signs, approaching the completion of their many years in each.

Why Are Full Moons So Important?

At a Full Moon, that which has opened since the previous New Moon surfaces in a public form, and heads toward the culmination and fruition symbolized by the second half of any cycle. First half, birth into form and field. Second half, culmination and completion of the purpose of that cycle.

That’s why it’s important to regard the New and Full Moon charts as “God’s Footprints in Time,” since one follows the other in an unending sequence of births of newer and newer seeds. The New Moons show us the seeds that will flourish under the reflected light of the Full Moon.

Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. We are now in a time of the year when the inner planets are making oppositions to the outer planets from mid-July through mid-November. The nine forming oppositions in this chart involve the Moon and Jupiter to Sun, Mercury, and Mars, Mercury and Mars also opposed to Uranus, and Venus opposed Neptune. This creates an “awareness generator” focused between 4-24 Taurus/Scorpio and 17-28 Virgo/Pisces.

Dispositors - What's the Backdrop to the Energies?

The Sun is in Scorpio, making Mars in Scorpio its ruler. The Moon is in Taurus, making Venus its ruler. Mars is in Scorpio, its home sign, making it a “final dispositor.” This month we see the Sun, Mercury, and Mars are all ruled by Mars. Venus is ruled by Mercury, Jupiter is ruled by Venus, Saturn is ruled by Jupiter, Uranus is ruled by Venus, Pluto by Saturn, and as usual, Neptune is a “standalone” planet, ruling itself.

That makes Mars the main player this month as it directly or indirectly rules all the other planets except Neptune, which is a standalone “final dispositor.” By looking at how “chains of dispositors,” “final dispositors,” and “mutual reception” are in play between the planets, we get a clear picture of the backdrop for how each planet operates. The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames

Venus in Virgo is said to be unfortunate in the sign of its “Fall,” but as Venus has an Earth quality, it finds a natural expression in Virgo. As Venus rules the Moon, Jupiter, and Uranus, it also has a huge influence in this chart and the months to come. As it rules Jupiter, it’ll be fairly powerful through the first few months of 2024.

In this chart, Venus is on a degree of “a swimming race,” where we take turns in a friendly competition to cultivate group consciousness and values. It’s a technique of encouraging individuals within a group setup. After its long retrograde in Leo, we’ve certainly figured out where our affections lie and how to appreciate more of the Leo sector and planets in our lives. And now that Venus “leads the Light” it is the entryway to the illumination available in situations.

The Sabian Symbols for the Full Moon

This Full Moon falls at 6 Scorpio and 6 Taurus. It is said that the first third (decan) of any sign deals with the actional and material levels of life, and as the Lunation is in the first decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Scorpio and Taurus.

Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take. Though I’ve given you a sense of what this is about up to now, here’s where we go into detail.

The Solar degree symbol for the 6th degree of Scorpio is “A gold rush.” In the original Jones class notes published in The Astrology of Personality, Rudhyar says this is a degree of “the passionate quest for universal values, destructive of cultural ease of living,” “leaping to opportunity,” and “avid seeking.”

In The Astrological Mandala, he states this degree is about “the passionate search for new values which, at any level, promise a more abundant life.” He adds this is about an arousal or intensification of desire, whether for a thing, role, status, or part to play in the world. He says “always at this Scorpio level the yearning is for an ever more intense and all-absorbing union with a person or a community… which motivates a search for more effectual means to achieve as total a feeling experience as possible.”

He offers this symbol is about our ability to break free from “the known and familiar, gambling everything on a vision or dream. He gives the keyword as AVIDITY, and says this degree falls in the Span of Retention, Act of Group-Integration, and is the first degree in the Scene of Communion on the Emotional-Cultural level.

So this symbol shows the Light of this Full Moon Lunar Eclipse over the next 4 months involves the ending of some old potential clearing the ground for us to “tear away from the known and familiar” on a social or emotional level. Whatever ends will help us move into more universal feeling experiences that will lead us to new opportunities and new roles to play.

Dr. Jones says this is a degree of “”the exploitation of natural resources through personal initiative and intelligence,” and of our “essential independence” from “commonplace limitations or superficial inadequacies of life.” He says this symbolizes that there are rewards for our efforts, and that we are able “to improve (our) immediate condition in all possible directions.”

He states “Human skills are forever challenged to their own good fortune,” and offers us the keyword AMBITION. He states that when operating in a positive manner, this degree is “instinctive self-dedication to the unseen potentials of everyday existence.”

The Lunar degree symbol for the 6th degree of Taurus is “A bridge being built across a gorge.” In the original notes from the Marc Jones class on the symbols published in The Astrology of Persnality,, Rudhyar says this is a degree of “Conquest of difficulties and limitations by intelligence,” “directed effort toward solving a problem,” and “Channel-ship.”

In The Astrological Mandala he offers that this is a degree of "the conquest of separativeness through group-cooperation,” and states this symbol is about participating in some collective project to overcome any sense of loneliness. “All great evolutionary challenges imply the overcoming of basic difficulties.” Here we confront “an abyss” that is “no longer a personal void” but a chasm that must be bridged to achieve evolution.

He says here “a link must be built through the power of the collective mind of (the group or community) on the basis of the legacy of the past, to make a bridge…” He concludes the “bridge built with collective skill gives substance to and demonstrates (our) capacity to conquer obstacles and to achieve evolutionary continuity…”

So the form available via this Full Moon is through building bridges with others to achieve some form of evolution in a group setup, and conquering difficulties, limitations, and separateness “through group cooperation.” He states this degree falls in the Span of Experience, Act of Differentiation, and is the first degree in the Scene of Substantiation on the Emotional-Cultural level.

Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, says this is a degree of “the conquest of natural difficulties by conscious means,” and of our independence from “nature’s accidents or inconveniences.” He states “there are always ways in which physical limitations may be transformed into personal or social assets,” contributing dependability and consistency that ensures “continuance and intelligence to human experience.”

He offers the keyword CHANNELSHIP. He goes on to state that when operating positively, the degree is “the directness and the practical instinct by which personality achieves ultimate benefit of its powers.”

From these symbols it seems the next two weeks (and 4 months) we’ll see the Light of a social/emotional intensification that will lead us to break away from something that is familiar to us. This will express in forms of cooperation in some “bridge building” or linking process with others to achieve some sort of evolutionary continuity. Here the Light of “aroused ambition” leading us to rewards and forms of good fortune results in new ways of social cooperation so that we can use our resources to become independent of limitations and superficialities.

We’re in an Era of Overlapping Capricorn and Aquarius Cycles

As you know by now, we had numerous important long wave conjunctions in January 2020 which were set into motion in March 2020, including a 12 year cycle and a 33 year cycle! Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto all made conjunctions in Capricorn in January and March 2020 which were activated by Mars in March 2020. Mars completed its run at its conjunction with Saturn at 1 Aquarius which also set long wave preliminary Aquarian structures into play which are expanding and currently taking shape for the next 16-17 years.

We’re seeing the competition between the Capricorn and Aquarian cycles play out in the world between the regressives and the progressives, between the forces of control and the forces which resist control, and between the materialists and the idealists. The Capricorn cycles will be in play for many years to come, but by mid-century they will wane while the Aquarian cycles will have become dominant.

That “Great Compression” of planets in early 2020 created a very crowded house in a very narrow span of degrees, impacting where we have late Capricorn for many years to come. Add the three conjunctions of Jupiter with Pluto as it transited back and forth over the January and March degree points, and we’ve had a lot of long wave Pluto energies expanded which will show effects over the next decade! TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Tests of Human Redemption

I’ve included this section for many years to keep you all aware of the workings of Divine Mother on our Earth in this Age in Transition. Rather than simply reprint it each month, I created this material as a separate article unto itself a while back. At the 2020 World Teacher Full Moon of Sun in Gemini and Moon in Sagittarius I gave you a universal prayer/meditation offered to us by the Tibetan Master D.K. in April 1945 at the end of the war. Tens of millions around the world do this prayer every Full Moon, tuning into the Whole which we ALL are together. I said it every day for many years, and still say it every Full Moon. (It was a real trip to see eyes suddenly open and/or lightbulbs go on over people’s heads when I did it countless times riding the NYC subways when I lived there in the early 80s!)

In 1976 I changed a few words to make it more universal. For your consideration,

The Great Invocation

From the point of Light within the mind of God
Let Light stream forth into the minds of All,
Let Light descend on Earth

From the point of Love within the heart of God
Let Love stream forth into the hearts of All
May Christ return to Earth

From the center where the Will of God is known
Let Purpose guide the little Wills of All
The Purpose which the Masters know and serve

From the center which we call the Human Race
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

Again, as I’ve offered you many times before, when you see the title "The Christ" if you are so inclined please substitute "World Teacher," "Bodhisattva," "Imam Madhi," "Krishna," “Kristos,” "Avalokiteshvara," "Maitreya," "Messiah," or any other term used to describe this Great Being. And if you substitute “Enlightened Ones” or “Wise Ones” for “Masters” I doubt it would offend anyone.
