Sabian Symbols Showing the Light of Dispassionate
Observation Expressed In New Efficient Action.

As most of you know, the December 2020 Solstice conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn at 1 Aquarius launched new 20 and 200 year eras. This Lunation helps us embrace the future as we finish paying some long time dues.

I’ll speak more about the bigger picture after the Sabian Symbols. For now, let’s take a closer look at this distributive, freeing, adaptive and inspired Full Moon which will confirm the value of what we’re letting go of. This brings value and balance to the losses already in motion due to the recent Libra Solar eclipse, and begins a time of finishing our understanding about finding new answers and new methods when the old ones don’t work any more, and gives us a new look at the new life we awakened to this past Summer. This one continues to help us grow through “redeeming promises” demonstrated as seeing beyond “life and death processes” as we focus on rebirth.

As this Full Moon has Sun in Sagittarius and Moon in Gemini, the Light of an expanding freedom to dance with our life adventure can be expressed through Gemini’s love of discovering new views and new perspectives. This is the Light of play, humor and a philosophical approach expressed through the joy of discovering all there is to discover in a new “mind unbound,” free to know all there is to know.

Because Gemini/Sag is the axis of the archetype of the Magician/Questor, we can learn and teach, experiment, see things objectively, and perfect our spiritual understanding of both high and low. Just remember there are many alternatives to examine before making a crucial decision. Play with ideas to come to the Light of understanding.

The Sun in Fire and the Moon in Air shows a time of the Distributive Fire (spreading inspiration) of Sagittarius expressing its visions and truth through the curiosity of Distributive Air (spreading ideas) of Gemini. This begins a run of Full Moon themes of getting clear on the actional and material levels of our existence.

At this time, 5 planets are in the first third of their sign, 0 planets are in the second third of their signs, and 5 planets are in the last third of their signs. This indicates a balance between between the actional-material and individual, mental, and spiritual levels of life and NO emphasis on the social/emotional levels of life. Of note is the Spiritual Triad occupying the end of their signs, approaching the completion of their many years in each.

Why Are Full Moons So Important?

At a Full Moon, that which has opened since the previous New Moon surfaces in a public form, and heads toward the culmination and fruition symbolized by the second half of any cycle. First half, birth into form and field. Second half, culmination and completion of the purpose of that cycle.

That’s why it’s important to regard the New and Full Moon charts as “God’s Footprints in Time,” since one follows the other in an unending sequence of births of newer and newer seeds. The New Moons show us the seeds that will flourish under the reflected light of the Full Moon.

Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. We are now in a time of the year when the inner planets have almost finished opposing the outer planets, with only the Venus opposition to Uranus still to come. In this chart there is only one opposition involving the Full Moon. This creates an “awareness generator” focused between 3-7 Gemini/Sagittarius.

Dispositors - What's the Backdrop to the Energies?

The Sun is in Sagittarius, making Jupiter in Taurus its ruler. The Moon is in Gemini, making Mercury its ruler. Jupiter is ruled by Venus in its home sign of Libra making it a “final dispositor.” Mercury is in Sagittarius, making Jupiter its ruler as well. Besides these, Mars in Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter/Venus, Jupiter is ruled by Venus, Saturn is ruled by Jupiter, Uranus is ruled by Venus, Pluto by Saturn, and as usual, Neptune is a “standalone” planet, ruling itself.

That makes Venus the main player this month as it directly or indirectly rules all the other planets except Neptune, which is a standalone “final dispositor.” By looking at how “chains of dispositors,” “final dispositors,” and “mutual reception” are in play between the planets, we get a clear picture of the backdrop for how each planet operates. The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames

Venus in Libra in in Her home sign which makes her very powerful in a balanced, elegant, even-handed way. As Venus rules all the other planets except Neptune, it has a huge influence in this chart. As it rules Jupiter, it’ll be fairly powerful through the first few months of 2024 as well.

The Sabian Symbols for the Full Moon

This Full Moon falls at 5 Sagittarius and 5 Gemini. It is said that the first third (decan) of any sign deals with the actional and material levels of life, and as the Lunation is in the first decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Sagittarius and Gemini.

Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take. Though I’ve given you a sense of what this is about up to now, here’s where we go into detail.

The Solar degree symbol for the 5th degree of Sagittarius is “An old owl up in a tree.” In the original Jones class notes published in The Astrology of Personality, Rudhyar says this is a degree of “poised observation upon the drama of life,” Mellow judgment,” and “ingrained confidence in the situation and worth of the self.”

In The Astrological Mandala, he states this degree symbolizes "a poised and wise approach to existence based on a clear perception of unconscious factors and their operation.” Here a symbol of wisdom able to see in “the night of existence” helps our consciousness to be active in hidden ways usually unnoticed by ego.

He tells us this “suggests the possibility of developing a wisdom beyond tragedy, a peace and poise beyond conflict,” and gives us the keyword “Translucidity.” He says it falls in the span of "Receptiveness” and it’s the culminating degree in the actional level of the scene of Abstraction in the Act of Group-Integration.

According to Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, this is a degree of some needed stability in our affairs, where we use accepted life values functionally to confirm some element of our reality. Here we have power “to give an eternal stability or a deeper universal compulsion” to whatever calls our deeper potential, and find and demonstrate a “real dignity of self-respect.”

He gives us the keyword NORMALITY. He states that this degree, when positive, is "exceptional wisdom or effective self-restraint in each detail of personal accomplishment.”

The Lunar degree symbol for the 5th degree of Gemini is “A radical magazine.” In the original Jones notes published in The Astrology of Personality, Rudhyar says this symbolizes “the compelling power of social propaganda,” “Exteriorization of emotional sympathy in organized reform,” and “efficiency.”

In The Astrological Mandala, he states this degree is about "the explosive tendency of repressed feelings and root emotions,” and offers this symbol is about things being bound tending to explode after a period of time. This is a degree of moving from form into formlessness.

He says this is “the experience of a world of being so far unperceived by the everyday consciousness which starts the process.” He concludes this could lead us “to reach beyond established forms.” He states this degree falls in the Span of Zeal, Act of Differentiation, and Scene of Discovery on the Actional level.

Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, says this is a degree of “the necessary element of change in human affairs,” and how the “remote” potential “will have its full and functioning part in any immediate reality.” Here we see our power “to give high exaltation and dramatic force to whatever succeeds in stirring (us) deeply within (ourselves.)”

He further states that “the supremacy of inner over outer compulsions” is emphasized here. He offers the keyword TANGENCY. He goes on to state that when operating positively, the degree is “personality in its highly effective capacity for putting its stamp on everything it touches.”

From these symbols it seems the Light of this Full Moon will help us see how to find new forms of translucid wisdom in action based in seeing what we usually don’t see. This can lead us to understand unconscious factors in our own lives or the lives of others, either as a result of new information or old ideas and perceptions seen in a new light. This will be expressed through our ability to go beyond the known and familiar to reach a state of discovery not perceived before now.

This is the Light of a wisdom that sees through the forms and understands the essentials. We can find peace and poise observing life’s dramas as a result of learning how to retire from old dramas and claim a greater confidence in past decisions, and get clear about permanent “conditioning factors” in life. This will be expressed by breaking free of some sort of “repression” which has contributed to the explosive quality of the information presenting itself. The Moon is on a phase which fulfills discovery through action, and leads us to a search for information which can ensure “wealth and power.”

We’re in an Era of Overlapping Capricorn and Aquarius Cycles

As you know by now, we had numerous important long wave conjunctions in January 2020 which were set into motion in March 2020, including a 12 year cycle and a 33 year cycle! Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto all made conjunctions in Capricorn in January and March 2020 which were activated by Mars in March 2020. Mars completed its run at its conjunction with Saturn at 1 Aquarius which also set long wave preliminary Aquarian structures into play which are expanding and currently taking shape for the next 16-17 years.

We’re seeing the competition between the Capricorn and Aquarian cycles play out in the world between the regressives and the progressives, between the forces of control and the forces which resist control, and between the materialists and the idealists. The Capricorn cycles will be in play for many years to come, but by mid-century they will wane while the Aquarian cycles will have become dominant.

That “Great Compression” of planets in early 2020 created a very crowded house in a very narrow span of degrees, impacting where we have late Capricorn for many years to come. Add the three conjunctions of Jupiter with Pluto as it transited back and forth over the January and March degree points, and we’ve had a lot of long wave Pluto energies expanded which will show effects over the next decade! TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Tests of Human Redemption

I’ve included this section for many years to keep you all aware of the workings of Divine Mother on our Earth in this Age in Transition. Rather than simply reprint it each month, I created this material as a separate article unto itself a while back. At the 2020 World Teacher Full Moon of Sun in Gemini and Moon in Sagittarius I gave you a universal prayer/meditation offered to us by the Tibetan Master D.K. in April 1945 at the end of the war. Tens of millions around the world do this prayer every Full Moon, tuning into the Whole which we ALL are together. I said it every day for many years, and still say it every Full Moon. (It was a real trip to see eyes suddenly open and/or lightbulbs go on over people’s heads when I did it countless times riding the NYC subways when I lived there in the early 80s!)

In 1976 I changed a few words to make it more universal. For your consideration,

The Great Invocation

From the point of Light within the mind of God
Let Light stream forth into the minds of All,
Let Light descend on Earth

From the point of Love within the heart of God
Let Love stream forth into the hearts of All
May Christ return to Earth

From the center where the Will of God is known
Let Purpose guide the little Wills of All
The Purpose which the Masters know and serve

From the center which we call the Human Race
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

Again, as I’ve offered you many times before, when you see the title "The Christ" if you are so inclined please substitute "World Teacher," "Bodhisattva," "Imam Madhi," "Krishna," “Kristos,” "Avalokiteshvara," "Maitreya," "Messiah," or any other term used to describe this Great Being. And if you substitute “Enlightened Ones” or “Wise Ones” for “Masters” I doubt it would offend anyone.
