- The End of Old Desires and Mobilizing Spiritual Power -

The coming Lunar Eclipse Full Moon of the Sun in Scorpio and Moon in Taurus flips the script on the May Wesak Festival Full Moon eclipse in the same sign.

What came forth then as a new wisdom, new vision, and new adaptability stripping away old desires and values now sees “the other side of the coin,” with This one helping strip away barriers to contacting our “inner god” in ways which we can express skillfully as spiritual power. This Eclipse will remove old Scorpio/Taurus energy over the next few months while pulling us into “simpler joys for pleasure and relaxation” based in a “live and let live” approach.

So what can we expect from this Lunation? Since all Eclipses shut something down, this stabilizing, eliminating, and regenerative Total Lunar Eclipse at 3:02 am PST, 11:02 am GMT on November 8 at 16 degrees and 1 minute of Scorpio and Taurus begins 5 months and 27 days of things getting “recycled” in the houses it occupies in our charts. Aspects to your natal planets will provide clues about how to use the energies in the most productive ways.

This is the Light of our “surrendering to the god within” made manifest through the activation of spiritual power. Increase your ability to give simple and direct expression of your unique way of wielding spiritual power using the “fusion of Life and Mind” shown by the Superior Conjunction of the Sun and Mercury to release the power into the form in Taurus. This is another Full Moon focused on actional and material levels of functioning and awareness.

Today’s Full Moon post will be an overview of the Lunation and some of its primary qualities. In parts 2 and 3 we’ll cover the Sabian Symbols, aspects, distributions, and patterns.

An Overview

This Full Moon brings the Light of the Scorpio Solar eclipse New Moon into a realization of deeper realities, more focused effective action, and a renewal of our connection to our inner knowing. There’s sure to be some stress with a need for responsible action as shown by the Fixed T-square, but regard it as an opportunity to demonstrate your command over spiritual power. There’s a need to release something which will lead to new initiatives. Show courage and heart as you free yourself from old “social rigidities,” and cultivate fellowship to make your life freer and happier.

The Superior Conjunction opposing the Moon conjunct Uranus with all of them square Saturn brings that theme back into play, reminding us to keep synthesizing all the parts of anything to see the whole, and keep sorting out what fits into the big picture and what doesn't. This will be a very intense period of interacting and immersion in the flow of ideas while letting go of all which doesn’t matter.

The next two weeks (and six months) will help us see what our magnetism has brought us which nourishes us, others, and/or the world. There is tremendous wisdom in knowing when to detach and when to attach, when to sit down and when to turn away. Things are definitely in motion, and a new world awaits once we’ve let go of all which needs releasing and come to some degree of satisfaction at the work we’ve done and what is yet to be done.

As with all Full Moons, use the light you’ve been seeing and expressing since the New Moon, and give it form and focus to see how to anchor those themes in expression. The Solar Eclipse New Moon’s theme was related to surrendering old memories and feelings in the face of newer and deeper relationships. That eclipse will help us see what needs to be removed from “the echoes of memories of perceptions of echoes of memories of perceptions of echoes of memories of….” to create space for new attractions, new enjoyments, and new ways of experiencing life in our depths. This Full Moon is the Light of a deeper connection with God appearing in our lives through mobilizing power against material illusions and challenges.

Is the Sun Following the Moon, or the Moon Following the Sun?

This Lunation is the sixteenth Full Moon where the Sun is in the same sign (Scorpio) as it was in the New Moon two weeks ago. We are now in “the regular order” of the Sun/Moon relationship cycle, and this one brings Life and Mind together in unique forms of spiritual mobilization, with the inner supporting the outer. We can now take the last New Moon eclipse themes of surrendering the past to transfigure the present, finding delight in the truth we’re seeing, and through the strengthened connection with our inner “god,” we can easily command material circumstances and those who cling to might rather than right.

There are two patterns; one is when the Full Moon Sun is the same sign as the previous New Moon Sun, and the other is when the Full Moon Sun is in the next sign from the Sun in the previous New Moon. The Sun was in the same sign in both the New Moon and Full Moon, the so-called “natural” order, between April 2019 and August 2020. At the August 2020 Full Moon we entered the “reverse pattern” of the Sun of the Full Moon occupying the sign after the New Moon Sun, since the previous New Moon Sun was at 29 Cancer and that Full Moon Sun was at 12 Leo.

Now that August 2021 brought us the New Moon Sun at 17 Leo and Full Moon Sun is at 30 Leo, we’re back in the natural order for many months to come. You can find out more about the “seed forms” of the New Moon two weeks ago by going to the archives.

Past As Prologue

The 2020-22 Eclipses moved us all in new directions, reorienting wherever we have Taurus, Cancer, Gemini, Scorpio, and Sagittarius in our charts. Remember that all Eclipses are “Cosmic recyclers,” taking away what is obsolete or de-magnetized in our lives. These losses clean out psychic and physical spaces so newer life substance can come forth. We’ve cleared out many old ideas, truths, habits, and perspectives the past 2 years, and now have a wider view regarding our life and the Life around us at the beginning of a new 20 year Aquarian era for humanity.

As you know from other articles, 2020 was the last year of a 200 year Earth era, with Air power building throughout the year which primed the pump for the 200 year Air era which began on the Solstice with Jupiter conjuncting Saturn at 1 Aquarius. However, we will still be “under the beams” of the powerful conjunctions in Capricorn, since between January and March 2020 we began new Saturn/Pluto, Jupiter/Pluto, Mars/Jupiter, Mars/Pluto, and Mars/Saturn cycles. The first of these launched a new 33 year era into motion.

Due to these conjunctions in late Capricorn and both Mars/Saturn and Jupiter/Saturn conjunctions at 1 Aquarius, we are in a long term period of finding wisdom by understanding transfiguration and enlightenment as verbs rather than nouns. We’ve now officially taken the first step into the coming Aquarian era. While this is not yet “The Age of Aquarius,” this is the final intensification of those energies which will sprout seeds in the second quarter of the century which will take us across the threshold of the Great Age soon after 2050.

Planetary Distribution

In this Full Moon, the span occupied by the inner planets (in this chart Mercury at 16 Scorpio through Venus at 21 Scorpio is 4 degrees, a very narrow span. This will be the primary area stimulated in our charts, and begins the approach of the inner planets to the outer planet span. At this time Mercury, the Sun, and Venus are outside the outer planet span, continuing our series of changing Jones Patterns in the near future, mainly determined by the Moon.

Right now all the planets occupy two spans; the outer planet span plus Mars is between 27 Capricorn and 26 Gemini, and the inner planet span between Mercury and Venus. This gives an empty span between Mars and Mercury of 140+ degrees, and an empty span between Venus and Pluto of 66+ degrees. Because of the planetary spread, we now have the final “See Saw” pattern of the year due to the spans between the three and the other seven. In this chart we have SIX forming oppositions built around the oppositions of the Moon to Mercury, Sun, and Venus, and the oppositions of these latter three to Uranus, creating the “tension of opposites” in this Full Moon.

At this time we have the 10 traditional planets occupying 6 signs. Currently, the outer planet occupied span begins with Pluto in late Capricorn, then moves through Saturn in Aquarius, Neptune in late Pisces, Jupiter in late Pisces and finishes with Uranus in mid-Taurus, with Mars occupying Gemini for many months to come.

The See Saw Pattern and how it works

This type of spread, with two or more planets on one side of the map and the others on the other side of the map, with at least one or two oppositions to define the axis of awareness, creates a “See Saw” Jones Pattern. Where a See Saw pattern is present, stay focused and balanced at the center while taking note of the periphery of things, and don't get off on a tangent or limb.

The See Saw cautions us not to get marginalized or go off on tangents, and find a whole view to any opposition that can include both views and more. This shows a need to see all sides of any opposing views or trends. It gives an excellent ability to learn how to triangulate using approaches which transcend the polarity, as well as find ways to "draw a bigger circle" around any opposing forces that encompasses both phases of the polarization to create progress and understanding.

The oppositions in Scorpio/Taurus define the “zone of oppositional awareness” in this chart, and includes the Moon, Mercury, Sun, Venus, and Uranus. Expect major awareness to come forth wherever you have the middle degrees of Taurus and Scorpio. So the “field of awareness” extends from 14 to 23 degrees of Taurus and Scorpio. If you have a planet or point in that zone, you will be profoundly affected by what’s taken away and what shows up!

Is the Grand Irrationality A Factor in this Full Moon?

Because this section is so long, I decided to create an article which explains what it is, how long it’s been in effect, and which zones of the zodiac have been most impacted and when. You can find all you need to know about this configuration associated with widespread irrationality and hard-edged “forks in the road of destiny” we’ve all confronted at various times by going to The Grand Irrationality. I’ll update it soon.

Any transit making multiple 7th harmonic aspects put this “7-pointed Star of Destiny” evolutionary configuration into play, bringing choices and changes affecting our future. The generic configuration is why things seem so crazy and hard-edged at this time in history, and why humanity seems to have been at an unending “fork in the road of destiny.” In this chart there is no planet triggering any of the outer planets by a septile series aspect.

Obviously, this evolutionary configuration is activated throughout the year when a planet moves through any of the hot zones of the configuration. This configuration will next be triggered when planets transit 8-14 Sagittarius and make biseptiles to Neptune and triseptiles to Uranus. I’ll speak more about the aspects in part 3 when I cover the special configurations.

Saturn: Spiritual Master, Spiritual Friend

Because Saturn continues to occupy center stage in its home sign of Aquarius, it is the final dispositor of all planets transiting Capricorn and Aquarius from now through 2023. This chart shows it challenges us to rise to some occasion which will expand us, and help us grow into our Aquarian role to play. That Saturn is the driver of the powerful Fixed T-square dominating this Lunar eclipse, we’ll need Saturn skills to express our hearts in ways which “free us from social rigidity” and allow us joy in fellowships.

This is the first lunation since Saturn went stationary direct, beginning a third period of demonstrating our skill and perseverance, receiving blessings from Spirit, developing strength and resilience in the face of disappointments so we may demonstrate gratitude as part of learning to use spiritual power effectively. It certainly continues to be a factor in how we express our Capricorn and Aquarius sectors and any natal or progressed planets we have in those signs.

Though Saturn can feel heavy and bring heavy life lessons, it also in the part of us which can take charge of our lives and destiny by using Saturn’s virtues in the right way and time. Our ability to steer our “ship of personality” into its rightful “role of destiny” has brought us to the threshold of new parts to play on the stage of Life.

We’re still in a long wave period of crystallizing visionary roles to play in the emergent Aquarian era, and with the dance Saturn and Uranus did last year has returned and will play a huge part in the friction between now and the end of the year. This square require that we figure out what matters to us and what doesn’t, with our final exam in “squaring ourselves with reality” happening over the next few months. Uranus has awakened us to new roles to play, while Saturn has brought new mutations and an accelerated evolution which bring us to this point of getting to utilize spiritual power effectively through deliberation rather than instinct.

I explain how Saturn and Uranus work together to awaken us to our Higher Powers to take command of our destiny in my book Saturn: Spiritual Master, Spiritual Friend. Saturn helps us give form and structure to our quest for Self-realization; in Capricorn, it teaches us how to accept and use personal power within a socially responsible context, while in Aquarius it teaches us how to make a greater contribution to our civilization and come together with others in a great effort “ensouled by a great vision.” Coupled with Uranus having awakened us to the fact that the old answers aren’t enough along with the need to accept spiritual power to shape our world, we are collectively “breaking on through to the other side” into an unfolding Higher awareness.

On A Final Note

See you in the near future with parts two and three on this Full Moon Total Lunar eclipse which will de-magnetize many old outer things as we withdraw into our inner truth and power. By withdrawing from whatever we don’t need to deal with, we’ll be able to express our spiritual power simply and directly. This eclipse continues to help us synthesize our view and help us eliminate all which doesn’t serve the evolving Aquarian long wave evolutionary pulses as we train for renewed spiritual effectiveness. Part of the process involves Saturn teaching us gratitude for small opportunities to grow, and in that practice we become stronger in our attunement with the abundance universe. As we strengthen that alignment, we bring forth more to be grateful for!

The next two weeks (and 6 months) will help us by eliminating all which is not pertinent to who we are. This will mobilize us, and some will refuse old authoritarian patterns by reclaiming which symbolizes the conflict between old and new perspectives. Surrender to your inner wisdom, and find a new or roundabout way to express it. Venus ruling the Moon and Uranus is extremely powerful in this chart, so take the time to dance with that part of you which mirrors the Beloved in your Soul-field.

We’ve entered a new chapter in our spiritual journey at a fork in the road of our collective destiny. 2020 was about forging our connection with the World Soul, our Wisdom, and our greater dedication. 2021 began the new era in our lives. We’re all wiser than we used to be, have been given ample opportunities to value our heart connections with our friends, and display the vaster spiritual awareness we share with our Brothers and Sisters.
