Sabian Symbols Showing the Light of A High
Purpose Expressed In Admiring Different Approaches.

As most of you know, the December 2020 Solstice conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn at 1 Aquarius launched new 20 and 200 year eras. This Lunation helps us renew the Aquarian energies as we approach a compression in that sign setting a new two year cycle into motion.

I’ll speak more about the bigger picture after the Sabian Symbols. For now, let’s take a closer look at this integrating, purposeful, concentrating, grounding, flowing, and specializing Full Moon occurring at 9:54 am PST on January 25 at 6 Aquarius/Leo.

This will bring our Aquarian realizations into a renewed focus, and help us get clear about what roles are enjoyable to us as we move into a larger future. Remember we launched from a Mercury direct platform of getting ready to “enter into a new land,” giving up the lesser for the greater. As the long wave Aquarian energies set into motion in 2020-2021 are renewed at this time each year, go with the new, the ideal, the larger sense of purpose you’ve been glimpsing since then.

Like last month, thanks to Venus sextile Saturn and trine Jupiter, it continues to be an exceptionally favorable time for all planets we have in the first decan of Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces. And with Jupiter the integrator of the Lunation T-square, with Venus ruling and trining Jupiter and sextile Her ruler Saturn, this will be a very productive 2 weeks. Let go, concentrate, magnetize or de-magnetize as needed.

As this Full Moon has Sun in Aquarius and Moon in Leo, the Light of a great social vision can be expressed through Leo’s dynamic creative flair. This is the Light of group synergy and/or a greater vision expressed through a courageous creative expression, showing the individual’s ability to perform in their own unique and genuine way.

Because Aquarius/Leo is the axis of the archetype of the King/Queen/Noble, we can see the greatest good for our “realm” and bring forms of “divine law” into our lives. This allows us to see clearly how to take command of Aquarius energies in our charts and express it in a greater heart power of personally meaningful expression.

The Sun in Air and the Moon in Fire shows a time of the Fixed Air (stable associative interactivity) of Aquarius expressing its synthesized vision of a greater ideal through the Fixed Fire (stable active inspiration) of Leo. This begins a run of three Full Moons on the social and emotional levels in their signs, disrupting a run which has been about getting clear on the actional and material levels of our existence.

At this time, 6 planets are in the first third of their sign, 3 planets are in the second third of their signs, and 1 planet is in the last third of their signs. This indicates a very heavy emphasis on the actional-material levels levels of life, with a “normal” emphasis on the social and emotional levels and almost NO focus on the individual, mental, and spiritual levels, with only Neptune bringing energies related to the individual/spiritual levels of life. Of note is the Spiritual Triad now are occupying different sectors while still approaching the completion of their many years in each.

Why Are Full Moons So Important?

At a Full Moon, that which has opened since the previous New Moon surfaces in a public form, and heads toward the culmination and fruition symbolized by the second half of any cycle. First half, birth into form and field. Second half, culmination and completion of the purpose of that cycle.

That’s why it’s important to regard the New and Full Moon charts as “God’s Footprints in Time,” since one follows the other in an unending sequence of births of newer and newer seeds. The New Moons show us the seeds that will flourish under the reflected light of the Full Moon.

Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. We are now in a time of the year when the inner planets have finished opposing the outer planets. In this chart there is only one opposition involving the Full Moon. This creates an “awareness generator” focused between 4-8 Aquarius/Leo.

Dispositors - What's the Backdrop to the Energies?

The Sun is in Aquarius, making Saturn in Pisces its ruler. The Moon is in Leo, making the Sun her ruler. Mercury in Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, which is ruled by Jupiter. Venus and Mars are both in Capricorn, making Saturn their ruler. Jupiter in Taurus is ruled by Venus in Capricorn, Saturn is ruled by Jupiter, Uranus in Taurus is ruled by Venus, Pluto is ruled by Saturn, and as usual, Neptune is a “standalone” planet, ruling itself.

That makes Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn the main players in this chart, as they form a “chain of dispositors” which rule all the other planets except for Neptune who is its own “final dispositor.” By looking at how “chains of dispositors,” “final dispositors,” and “mutual reception” are in play between the planets, we get a clear picture of the backdrop for how each planet operates. The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames

Venus in Capricorn is front and center as the leading planet in the occupied segment of the Bucket Jones pattern and the ruler of both Jupiter and Uranus. This will make Her very prominent through these first months of 2024. In this chart She is extremely harmonized with the two other planets in the chain of dispositors, showing the next 2 weeks should be extremely grounded, productive, and stabilizing, harmonizing planets we have in the first 10 degrees of the Earth and Water signs.

The Sabian Symbols for the Full Moon

This Full Moon falls at 6 Aquarius and 6 Leo. It is said that the first third (decan) of any sign deals with the actional, material, and physical levels of life, and as the Lunation is in the first decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Aquarius (Saturn with an added dose of Venus) and Leo (the Sun with an added dose of Saturn).

Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take. Though I’ve given you a sense of what this is about up to now, here’s where we go into detail.

The Solar degree symbol for the 6th degree of Aquarius is “A performer of a mystery play.” In the original Marc Jones class notes on the symbols published in The Astrology of Personality, Rudhyar says this is a degree of “compelling urge in every soul to express the unknown and the more-than-physical,” “Sensitiveness to high purpose,” and “conflict.”

We are told in The Astrological Mandala that this symbolizes “the individual’s involvement in long-established patterns of activity aiming at the release of collective power.” He states “the great Mysteries of the past were created by inspired Seers and Adepts for the purpose of transferring to a mentally conscious and humanly significant level of group operation what in the lower kingdoms of life we call instincts,” where there’s a linkage of biological, spiritual, and social energies which strengthen the connection with “the deeper realities of planetary and universal Life.”

He continues with “rituals are binding, and often the performers wear masks” because they serve as “focal points for the release of transpersonal forces.” Here “the individual is seen having assumed a transpersonal responsibility.” He says it falls in the span of "Defensiveness” and it’s the initiating degree in the emotional and social level of the scene of Contribution in the Act of Capitalization.

According to Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, this degree is one of “the mediating function of the mind as it is called on to interpret the individual and (their) world to each other, and as the everyday values of experience thereby are heightened in personality on the one side and in life itself on the other.” He says “the conventional aspect of reality is found to be a convenienct backdrop of (our) self-realization, and (our) particular characteristics are exalted as variant and ever-stimulating potentialities of living in general.”

He offers us the keyword SUBTLETY. He states when operating in a positive way, this symbol represents “a gift for dramatizing the deeper or real opportunities of a human society.”

The Lunar degree symbol for the 6th degree of Leo is “An old-fashioned woman and an up-to-date girl.” In the original Jones notes published in The Astrology of Personality, Rudhyar says this symbolizes “realization of changeless subjective worth beyond changing appearances,” “interchange of sympathy,” and “enhanced self-awareness.”

In The Astrological Mandala, he states this degree is about "the need to transcend our subservience to fashion, in morals as well as in clothes,” within the framework of changing social values, as new ideals replace old ideals over time. He says this involves a “confrontation” between “the old and the new,” but Marc Jones’ original symbol speaks of an admiration rather than a heated clash.

He continues that any clash of cultures or values “should show us the impermanence of most of what society impresses upon our collective mentality.” He offers this is about “cultural values and the emotional impact they have upon our character formation,” and that this degree “refers to a collective, cultural, and social crisis which challenges us to realize the relativity of social values.” He states this degree falls in the Span of Assurance, Act of Stabilization, and is the initial degree in the emotional and social level of the Scene of Combustion.

Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, says this is a degree of “the essentially dramatic function of the soul as it plays its various roles in a human society, here brought out in a practical aspect of everyday values.” He continues “there is at once a cooperation and a competition between those ways of life which protect the contribution of the past on the one hand and administer the promise of the future on the other.”

He offers that “conventionality and initiative are a continual stimulus to each other,” and gives us the keyword CONTRAST. He states when operating positively, this degree is “personal achievement through a creative appreciation and adaptation of the values established by others.”

From these symbols it seems the Light of this Full Moon will help us see the Light of needing to express the unknown, perhaps under pressure, and a sensitivity to a higher purpose in the form of embracing new opportunities. This will find expression in some sort of “cross-cultural admiration” where we can see how everything contributes in a creative way to the completion of the whole. The Light of a stable vision of a greater good will find expression in the Lunar focus of self-expression which combines competition and cooperation to allow the past to blend into the future.

We’re in an Era of Overlapping Capricorn and Aquarius Cycles

As you know by now, we had numerous important long wave conjunctions in January 2020 which were set into motion in March 2020, including a 12 year cycle and a 33 year cycle! Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto all made conjunctions in Capricorn in January and March 2020 which were activated by Mars in March 2020. Mars completed its run at its conjunction with Saturn at 1 Aquarius which also set long wave preliminary Aquarian structures into play which are expanding and currently taking shape for the next 16-17 years. The next few weeks renews that Aquarius pulse, and promises 2024 to be a very “Aquarian” year!

We’re seeing the competition between the Capricorn and Aquarian cycles play out in the world between the regressives and the progressives, between the forces of control and the forces which resist control, and between the materialists and the idealists. The Capricorn cycles will be in play for many years to come, but by mid-century they will wane while the Aquarian cycles will have become dominant.

That “Great Compression” of planets in early 2020 created a very crowded house in a very narrow span of degrees, impacting where we have late Capricorn for many years to come. Add the three conjunctions of Jupiter with Pluto as it transited back and forth over the January and March degree points, and we’ve had a lot of long wave Pluto energies expanded which will show effects over the next decade! TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Tests of Human Redemption

I’ve included this section for many years to keep you all aware of the workings of Divine Mother on our Earth in this Age in Transition. Rather than simply reprint it each month, I created this material as a separate article unto itself a while back. At the 2020 World Teacher Full Moon of Sun in Gemini and Moon in Sagittarius I gave you a universal prayer/meditation offered to us by the Tibetan Master D.K. in April 1945 at the end of the war. Tens of millions around the world do this prayer every Full Moon, tuning into the Whole which we ALL are together. I said it every day for many years, and still say it every Full Moon. (It was a real trip to see eyes suddenly open and/or lightbulbs go on over people’s heads when I did it countless times riding the NYC subways when I lived there in the early 80s!)

In 1976 I changed a few words to make it more universal. For your consideration,

The Great Invocation

From the point of Light within the mind of God
Let Light stream forth into the minds of All,
Let Light descend on Earth

From the point of Love within the heart of God
Let Love stream forth into the hearts of All
May Christ return to Earth

From the center where the Will of God is known
Let Purpose guide the little Wills of All
The Purpose which the Masters know and serve

From the center which we call the Human Race
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

Again, as I’ve offered you many times before, when you see the title "The Christ" if you are so inclined please substitute "World Teacher," "Bodhisattva," "Imam Madhi," "Krishna," “Kristos,” "Avalokiteshvara," "Maitreya," "Messiah," or any other term used to describe this Great Being. And if you substitute “Enlightened Ones” or “Wise Ones” for “Masters” I doubt it would offend anyone.
