Sabian Symbols Showing the Light of Release Expressed As a Power to Grow.
This coming Full Moon is the twenty-sixth since the December 2020 Solstice conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn at 1 Aquarius which launched new 20- and 200-year eras. This one helps us take a new look at many things from the past, find ways to understand things from multiple angles, and be efficient and responsible in our use of power. This will be a highly specialized and somewhat peculiar two weeks.
I’ll speak more about the bigger picture after the Sabian Symbols. For now, let’s take a closer look at this activating, educative, responsible and practical Lunation which shows us the way to growth which help us integrate whatever needs integrating, and have faith in those things which require faith. Fellowship is still paramount, as is practicing dispassion. This will be a self-organizing time when we shed a lot of things which used to inhibit us.
Due to the position of the Nodes and recent eclipses, through our releases and eliminations we’re stabilizing our need for calm as we demonstrate how we can relate to others at a higher, more diplomatic level of interaction. As the growth is in Taurus, take an abundant view of what to let go of and how much heart strength you’re cultivating by releasing old toxic memories, or memories of toxic relationships in the past.
As the Full Moon fulfills the themes of the previous New Moon, we can use the power of that Capricorn Lunation to be honest with ourselves so we can take responsibility for what we need to and reject what we are not responsible for. Because Capricorn/Cancer is the axis of the archetype of the Innocent, we can see the honest truth about anything we want to be educated in. We’ve let go of a lot in 2022, and now can move forward with a sense of humor, objectivity, and dispassion.
The Sun in Earth and the Moon in Water shows a time of the Cardinal Earth (practical initiatives) of Capricorn expressing its need for organized effective action through the Cardinal Water (active feelings) of Cancer. Because Capricorn and Cancer are so strong with 3 oppositions in the second half of those signs, this Full Moon will bring a heavy emphasis of activity wherever those oppositions are happening. This continues a run of Full Moon themes of getting clear on the actional and material levels of our existence.
At this time, 3 planets are in the first third of their signs, 4 planets are in the second third of their signs, and 3 planets are in the last third of their signs. This indicates a slight emphasis on the social/emotional levels of life, with a slightly lesser balanced focus between the individual, mental, and spiritual field and the actional-material field. There will no doubt be an emphasis on our social lives and emotional experience these next two weeks!
Why Are Full Moons So Important?
At a Full Moon, that which has opened since the previous New Moon surfaces in a public form, and heads toward the culmination and fruition symbolized by the second half of any cycle. First half, birth into form and field. Second half, culmination and completion of the purpose of that cycle.
That’s why it’s important to regard the New and Full Moon charts as “God’s Footprints in Time,” since one follows the other in an unending sequence of births of newer and newer seeds. The New Moons show us the seeds that will flourish under the reflected light of the Full Moon.
Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. We are now in a time of the year when the inner planets have made their last oppositions to the outer planets. The 3 oppositions in this chart all involve the Moon opposed the Sun, Mercury, and Pluto, even if the latter is wide. Those oppositions are this chart’s “Tension of Opposites,” creating an “awareness generator” between 15-30 Cancer and Capricorn.
Dispositors - What's the Backdrop to the Energies?
The Sun is in Capricorn, making Saturn its worldly ruler and Uranus its spiritual ruler. The Moon is in Cancer, its home and therefore the Moon is its own worldly ruler, with the Sun its spiritual ruler. (I explain why the Sun is the spiritual ruler of Cancer in “Saturn: Spiritual Master, Spiritual Friend.”). As the ruler of the Sun is Saturn in its home sign of Aquarius, and the ruler of the Moon is in its home sign, it makes the Moon and Saturn the heavyweights setting the backdrop on the world stage.
At this time, we have three final dispositors affecting all the other planets, those being the Moon, Saturn, and Neptune. So, in this Lunation, besides what we’ve already covered, Mercury and Venus are ruled by Saturn, Mars is ruled by Mercury, Jupiter is ruled by Mars, Mercury, and Saturn, Uranus in Taurus is ruled by Venus, and Pluto in Capricorn is ruled by Saturn. As usual, Neptune is a “standalone” planet, ruling itself.
By looking at how “chains of dispositors,” “final dispositors,” and “mutual reception” are in play between the planets, we get a clear picture of the backdrop for how each planet operates. You can find out more about dispositors in general, chains of dispositors, and mutual reception by going to Astrology Class – What Is A Dispositor and What Is Mutual Reception Between Two Planets?
The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames
Venus provides great harmony and stability in this chart, and those with a planet between 4-11 Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, and Aquarius will find themselves at ease socially, somehow knowing what to say and how to say it. With Venus now in Aquarius, it’s attracting all kinds of new Aquarian people and activity wherever we have that sign in our chart.
Venus is now renewing the many Aquarian cycles set into motion since March 2020, so this should be a good time for “falling in love with a higher vision,” or attracting a vaster ideal perfect for us. Venus now teaches us through the “power of our spiritual ancestry,” or how we can rely on what has gone before to help us know how to be now. Find a new appreciation for how well your Aquarian sector is doing, and how you are expanding in that area of life.
If you want to know more about how to shape your Venus power to attract better friends and relations in the future, please consider getting your copy of my new book The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames. It is the most comprehensive book on Venus ever written and explains why we attract who we do and how to create more satisfying relationships in the future. You will understand the foundations of long term healthy relationships and friendships, why Soul Mates come into our lives, and learn how to shape your attractive power to have happy relationships in the future. Even if you’re not looking for a partner, this book will explain why certain people with certain traits came into your life and what they taught you about yourself.
It has chapters on the qualities of each sign’s natural mate, the qualities of Venus in each sign, and when crucial choices and changes are made, affecting who we attract in the future. It was written for both astrologers and lay people, and as it has a thousand gems for better relationships, with self, others, and Source, please consider getting your copy by going to the link above! (And when you’re done, please leave a review on Amazon, since it helps the book and all other books on astrology as well!)
The Sabian Symbols for the Full Moon
This Full Moon falls at 17 Capricorn and 17 Cancer. It is said that the second third (decan) of any sign deals with the social and emotional levels of life, and as the Lunation is in the second decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Taurus and Scorpio.
Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take. Though I’ve given you a sense of what this is about up to now, here’s where we go into detail.
The Solar Sabian symbol for the 17th degree of Capricorn is “A girl surreptitiously bathing in the nude.” In The Astrology of Personality, where Rudhyar uses the original Dr. Jones' class notes on the symbols, 17 Capricorn is one of “Escape from bondage to social inhibitions,” “ readjustment of relation of spirit to body,” “self-purification,” and “self-confrontation.”
In The Astrological Mandala, he says this degree is one of “the escape from bondage to social inhibitions and a reliance upon the wisdom of the body.” He notes that “the pressure of religions” has created a “sharp and unwholesome division between soul and body” because of the rigid suppression of natural instincts and offers this symbol of nudity is “a welcome protest against the depressing and neurosis-generating puritanism of the past.”
He continues “Men and women are demanding a psychologically as well as physically healthful freedom of the body to overcome the hypocrisy and constrictions of social behavior.” He says this symbol is a call to release our inhibitions, and says this degree falls in the Span of Dependence, Act of Capitalization, and Scene of Group Performance on the Actional-Physical level.
Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, says this is a degree of “the irresistible desire of all life to strip back to essentials, and to gain self-renewal by some immediate and close intimacy with the accepted roots of all-being.” This symbol tells us “the spiritual significance of the human body (is) as a temple of the spirit, or as the archetype representing the total potentiality in a person existence.”
He continues “here is successful resort to self-sacrifice or psychological renunciation in order to achieve a new dimension of conscious reality.” He offers us the keyword IMMERSION, and states that when operating positively, the degree is "a highly effective dramatization of the basic characteristics and potentials of self.”
The Lunar Sabian Symbol for the 17th degree of Cancer is “The germ grows into knowledge and life.” In the original Dr. Jones' class notes on the symbols, Rudhyar says this is a degree of “gathering of all life values and experience in the perfectly formed consciousness,” and “spiritually integrated knowledge.”
In the Astrological Mandala, he says this degree involves "the life urge to actualize one’s birth potential.” He states this degree shows us “the process of germination,” where the seed is moving through the soil seeking the light. He says, “this is a dynamic process turned outward,” where “germination is the crucifixion of the seed,” and “the seed becomes the germ.”
He continues that this symbol shows us a contrast with the preceding symbol, where “action polarizes meditation.” This symbol is about expansion, growth, and “self-actualization.” He says it falls in the span of Ingenuousness, and it’s the second degree of the actional level of the scene of Consolidation in the Act of Stabilization.
According to Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, the degree is one of “the irresistible determination of living substance to press forward indefinitely and uncompromisingly in the expansion and refinement of its own special genius and identity, and thus to establish every possible phase of self-existence in more eternal lineaments.”
He continues that this symbol shows us “the concept of the philosopher’s stone, or of that sure core of immutable distinctiveness which actually constitutes self as such.” He offers us the keyword of UNFOLDMENT. He states that when operating in a positive manner, this degree is “a completeness of personal realization and self-consummation in every context of immediate concern.”
These symbols imply that during the next two weeks that the Light will lead us to leaving inhibitions behind so we can actualize some part of our “birth potential.” The Light, being fused with the retrograde “Divine Mind” of Mercury shows elements of our past will come back up, showing us how we grew then and can grow now, expressing our Light through a more perfectly formed personality structure via the process of active integration.
The Sun is in Capricorn, where we learn to take responsibility for fulfilling what must be fulfilled in our world, with instinctive awareness of what is ours to do and what isn’t ours to do. The Sun shows the Light of group performance in action, expressed through the integration indicated by the Moon. Perhaps the Mercury retrograde opposition will bring insights into past polarizations helping us see what we need to care for or about. Watch out for those ideas and events which resemble the past, since you might be able to rework it to achieve a new sense of group awareness.
We’re in an Era of Overlapping Capricorn and Aquarius Cycles
As you know by now, we had numerous important long wave conjunctions in January 2020 which were set into motion in March 2020, including a 12-year cycle and a 33 year cycle! Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto all made conjunctions in Capricorn in January and March 2020 which were activated by Mars in March 2020. Mars completed its run at its conjunction with Saturn at 1 Aquarius which also set long wave preliminary Aquarian structures into play which are expanding and currently taking shape.
That “Great Compression” of planets in early 2020 created a very crowded house in a very narrow span of degrees, impacting where we have late Capricorn for many years to come. Add the three conjunctions of Jupiter with Pluto as it transited back and forth over the January and March degree points, and we’ve had a lot of long wave Pluto energies expanded which will show effects over the next decade! If you’re wondering how this Great Compression and those to come will impact us, please check out the linked articles on the bottom of Part 1 of this series published yesterday.
TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Tests of Human Redemption
I’ve included this section for many years to keep you all aware of the workings of Divine Mother on our Earth in this Age in Transition. Rather than simply reprint it each month, I created this material as a separate article unto itself a while back. If you want to know more about the vast spiritual field coaxing us toward a great redemption of the promise of Life itself, please take a new look at TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Spiritual Lessons of 2023. We have now entered a long period of getting over our prejudices and preconceptions, and approaching others from an angle of “the fellowship of humanity.”
*********
At the 2020 World Teacher Full Moon of Sun in Gemini and Moon in Sagittarius I gave you a universal prayer/meditation offered to us by the Tibetan Master D.K. in April 1945 at the end of the war. Tens of millions around the world do this prayer every Full Moon, tuning into the Whole which we ALL are together. I said it every day for many years, and still say it every Full Moon. (It was a real trip to see eyes suddenly open and/or lightbulbs go on over people’s heads when I did it countless times riding the NYC subways when I lived there in the early 80s!)
In 1976 I changed a few words to make it more universal. For your consideration,
The Great Invocation
From the point of Light within the mind of God
Let Light stream forth into the minds of All,
Let Light descend on Earth
From the point of Love within the heart of God
Let Love stream forth into the hearts of All
May Christ return to Earth
From the center where the Will of God is known
Let Purpose guide the little Wills of All
The Purpose which the Masters know and serve
From the center which we call the Human Race
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
Again, as I’ve offered you many times before, when you see the title "The Christ" if you are so inclined please substitute "World Teacher," "Bodhisattva," "Imam Madhi," "Krishna," “Kristos,” "Avalokiteshvara," "Maitreya," "Messiah," or any other term used to describe this Great Being. And if you substitute “Enlightened Ones” or “Wise Ones” for “Masters” I doubt it would offend anyone.
See you soon with part 3 covering aspects, planetary sequencing, and other important factors in this Total Lunar Eclipse Full Moon.
