- Karmic Adjustments Which Will Mobilize Us.

The Full Moon of Sun in Capricorn and Moon in Cancer will give us a new look at our obligations to society and society’s obligation to us. This brings the ability to “tear ourselves away from the known and familiar, gambling everything on a great dream.”

As with all Full Moons, use the light you’ve been seeing and expressing since the New Moon, and give it form and focus through anchoring those themes in expression. This is the Light of a mobilizing initiative which sees a new level of understanding and can do what must be done to “win the prize.” With Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius, we’ve still in a “back to the future” time of the season.

This activating, mobilizing, freeing, preparatory, and adventurous Full Moon occurs at 4:33 pm PST on December 26, 12:33 am GMT on December 27, and falls at the 5th degree of Cancer and Capricorn. This continues the focus on the actional and material levels of life, and offers us a way to plan our moves into the future. Continuing the theme that proceeds at each Full Moon as they move through each polarity, this one gives us the ability to express our vision of what we need to do to make important adjustments in our early Cancer sector.

Today’s Full Moon post will be an overview of the Lunation and some of its primary qualities. In parts 2 and 3 we’ll cover the Sabian Symbols, aspects, distributions, and patterns.

An Overview

This Full Moon brings the Light of the Sagittarius New Moon into a realization that as we mobilize our power, there will be karmic adjustments to deal with. This will be a time to get clear about what roles we are and are not playing, see to the core of things, get over preconceptions, and do what must be done to move our future forward. In fact, there’s only two significant squares between Mercury conjunct Mars and both square Neptune which should release the best of all 3 planets.

As with all Full Moons, use the light you’ve been seeing and expressing since the New Moon, and give it form and focus to see how to anchor those themes in expression. The New Moon’s theme was related to imitating other ways to embrace a future role, which this time will launch in a big way with the Mercury RX conjunct Mars in Sagittarius.

Great happiness can be found by seeing a larger cause you believe in, or revisiting past causes in which you were a standard bearer. The next two weeks should bring karmic returns of a joyous nature, with unique gifts and blessings for those with planets near 2-8 Pisces, 14-20 Taurus, 26 Cancer-2 Leo, 8-14 Libra, and 20-26 Sagittarius. This Full Moon is culminative, initiating, adjusting, and should bring clarity and power.

Is the Sun Following the Moon, or the Moon Following the Sun?

This Lunation is the eighth Full Moon where the Sun is in a different sign (Sagittarius) than it was in the Scorpio New Moon two weeks ago. We are now into “the reverse order” of the Sun/Moon relationship cycle, as the Light of the New Moon is in a different sign than the Light of the Full Moon.

There are two patterns; one is when the Full Moon Sun is the same sign as the previous New Moon Sun, and the other is when the Full Moon Sun is in the next sign from the Sun in the previous New Moon. The Sun was in the same sign in both the New Moon and Full Moon, the so-called “natural” order, between April 2019 and August 2020. At the August 2020 Full Moon we entered the “reverse pattern” of the Sun of the Full Moon occupying the sign after the New Moon Sun, since the previous New Moon Sun was at 29 Cancer and that Full Moon Sun was at 12 Leo.

August 2021 brought us the New Moon Sun at 17 Leo and Full Moon Sun is at 30 Leo, beginning a new “natural order” sequence which continued through the New Moon of late February 2023 at 2 Pisces which was followed by the Full Moon at 17 Pisces. This shifted back into the “reverse order” sequence in April 2023 with a New Moon at 30 Aries followed by the Wesak Festival Full Moon Sun at 15 Taurus. Past As Prologue

The 2020-22 Eclipses moved us all in new directions, reorienting wherever we have Taurus, Cancer, Gemini, Scorpio, and Sagittarius in our charts. All Eclipses are “Cosmic recyclers,” removing what is obsolete in our lives. These losses clean out psychic and physical spaces so we can find new life substance. Due to what we’ve eliminated the past 2 years we now have a wider view of our life and the Life around us as humanity begins a new 20 year Aquarian era.

As you know from other articles, 2020 was the last year of a 200 year Earth era, with Air power building that year launching a 200 year Air era on the December Solstice with Jupiter conjuncting Saturn at 1 Aquarius. However, we will still be “under the beams” of the powerful conjunctions in Capricorn, since between January and March 2020 we began new Saturn/Pluto, Jupiter/Pluto, Mars/Jupiter, Mars/Pluto, and Mars/Saturn cycles. The first of these launched a new 33 year era into motion.

Due to these conjunctions in late Capricorn and both Mars/Saturn and Jupiter/Saturn conjunctions at 1 Aquarius, we are in a long term period of finding wisdom by understanding transfiguration and enlightenment as verbs rather than nouns. We’ve now officially taken the first step into the coming Aquarian era. While this is not yet “The Age of Aquarius,” this is the final intensification of those energies which will sprout seeds in the second quarter of the century which will take us across the threshold of the Great Age soon after 2050. And to note, there will be plenty of people and ideas from the Age of Pisces which will continue into the next century as part of the bridging process from past to future as humanity discovers new Aquarian ideas and sheds old Piscean ones.

Planetary Distribution

At this Full Moon, the inner planets are closing in on the occupied outer planet span. The open span is from the Moon at 5 Cancer to Venus at 27 Scorpio. The span occupied by the inner planets (in this chart Venus at 27 Scorpio through the Sun at 5 Capricorn) is 38+ degrees, a fairly narrow span. This will be the primary area stimulated in our charts.

At this time because all the inner planets are closing in on their conjunction with Pluto, we’re now moving into a run of Bowl and Bundle Jones different patterns over the coming months. This will hold except for when the Moon is in Leo and Virgo, when we’ll have Bucket patterns.

Right now all the planets are spread out across 6 signs. This month the Sun in Capricorn and Moon in Moon in Cancer still fit nearly into the opening and closing ends of the occupied span. With all the planets between Scorpio forward to Cancer, we now have approximately 2/3 of the zodiac occupied, with an empty span of 141+ degrees between the Moon and Venus. This creates a “Locomotive” chart pattern.

So What is a “Locomotive Pattern” and how does it work?

This type of spread, with all the planets occupying 2/3 of the signs with an empty third, creates an imbalance that leads to power if we can find the compensatory “weight” to make things move forward smoothly rather than rock side to side creating friction. Target what is needed, and provide compensatory energies accordingly.

As Marc Jones put it, “this type of horoscope reveals a balance of this sort in the life. A third part of things… consisting of a free span in experience, is set against a two-thirds part, embracing a related but limited span in experience…. The basis of the dynamic is found in the native’s resulting strong sense of a lack or a need, of a problem to be solved, a task to be achieved in the social and intellectual world around him.”

Dr. Jones states “The temperament reveals a self-driving individuality, an executive eccentricity that is not … unbalance but rather is power. It exhibits a dynamic and exceptionally practical capacity which is neither the broad universality of the Splash pattern, nor the special obsession with some particularly narrowed aspect of experience characteristic of the Bundle people.

He goes on to state “The Locomotive classification is … moved more by external factors in the environment than by aspects of its own character. The point of application for the powers of the self is shown … by the “leading planet,” or the one of the two in the empty trine which forms its aspect clockwise in the zodiac, irrespective of any distinction as “applying” or “separating.”

Venus at 27 Scorpio is the leading planet on a degree of “a military band on the march.” This entry to the Locomotive tells us we are now deepening our spiritual connection with Source and will have the opportunity to “put on the show” in some way. With the Moon in Cancer closing the Locomotive, we’ll finish experience with a sense of how some things had to end, whether gently or with a crash, to make the karma right in some life area, whether of self or another. So we open with the powerful magnetism of being able to put on a show, and finish with karmic adjustments.

As the Locomotive keeps things out of balance, Venus in Libra is now the front end to finding the way of initiating activity that must be accompanied by a compensatory “weight” to keep things moving forward rather than sideways. The more we work with the imbalances by making many small adjustments as we find a deeper faith, the easier it will be to navigate the imbalances in this pattern and come to a different way of dynamic self-expression.

What is needed is Leo, Virgo, and Libra energies to complete the empty span. Accept the self-love, service, and/or “repair and/or reconstruction work” which needs to be done. Then go deep, find your connection, and see a wider view. As we find the multiple views at the end of the process through the Moon and then move into a healthy Leo, Virgo, and Libra expression, we’ll naturally find ourselves at the next Venusian entry into the next phase of experience.

This leads with individual spiritual faith, and closes with actional and material decisions. Because the leading edge is Venusian water, approach experience with depth, faith, and awareness of depth factors. With Cancer water closing, our experience should lead us to seeing how the old must end so we can totally focus on the new.

Is the Grand Irrationality A Factor in this Full Moon?

No, and blessedly, will never be a factor activating the collective for the rest of our lives. This was a 30 year phenomenon which has now passed out of orb, and we are finally back to Neptune sextile Pluto and the coming Uranus sextile Neptune and trine Pluto. The spiritual field has shifted for the better!

This evolutionary configuration has been activated over the years when any planet moved through any of the hot zones of the configuration. However, even though it’s ended remember that almost everyone on Earth born the past 30 years has this in their charts! And all the eclipses these past years have also had it, including the April and May eclipses. So we’ll still have it working in the background for years to come. I’ll speak more about the aspects in part 3 when I cover the special configurations.

Saturn: Spiritual Master, Spiritual Friend

We are now solidly in the long voyage of Saturn’s transit of Pisces. While in Aquarius 2021-2022 it taught us shortcuts to illumination and instructed us in the wise use of spiritual energies for many months, as well as the spiritual power of gratitude and appreciation. This is a time of learning lessons of compassion and forgiveness shown by Pisces.

Saturn, ruler of our Capricorn and Aquarius sectors and any natal or progressed planets we have in those signs, has now turned stationary direct after its retrograde which brought us all “a call to renewal.” In the coming 2 weeks we move forward, knowing what parts of us are “indestructible” and ready to move further into the renewal which began in June 2023.

Though Saturn can feel heavy and bring serious life lessons, it is the part of us which can take charge of our lives and destiny by using Saturn’s virtues in the right way and time. Our ability to steer our “ship of personality” into its rightful “role of destiny” has brought us to the threshold of new parts to play on the stage of Life.

We’re now in a productive period of Jupiter making favorable aspects to Saturn over past and future months. The friction between Saturn and Uranus in 2021-2022 showed us what mattered to us and what didn’t, with our transformation into the roles we’re to play determined by how we’ve trained. Uranus awakened us to new roles to play, while Saturn brought new mutations and an accelerated evolution which are part of us learning to use spiritual power effectively through deliberation rather than instinct.

Recent eclipses are helping us de-magnetize and eliminate many old things as we launch into a new life phase! The outer planets continue to teach us about empathy, intuition, how we want to be connected to the collective field, and have prepared us to reap rewards and opportunities which will make 2024 both enjoyable and a challenge to navigate the larger field disturbances coming in the Spring and Summer.

Venus is a key player due to being the leading planet of the Locomotive and the ruler of Jupiter and Uranus, making it part of the “chain of dispositors" involving Venus, Mars, and Jupiter which rule all the planets except the Moon and Neptune. In this Lunation, Venus will help us see the value in what’s being eliminated from our social world.

As She is sextile Pluto and trine Neptune, we should have good clarity about which way the tides are flowing. These 2 weeks are about accepting the grace which will bring us power in the future, and knowing what standards we have to uphold, rise to some occasion which can show us how well we’ve trained before now.

A View of How We Got Here

Since 2019, we’ve all seen taken on new roles and responsibilities which brought new social effectiveness in 2021-22. Where we have late Capricorn and early Aquarius in our chart is the focus of coming years. The compressions in Capricorn led us to personal power and very long wave cycles showing our work for years to come. The March 2022 Aquarius compression created cycles of learning how to fulfill a greater role in the long wave Aquarian energy.

We’ve entered a new chapter in our spiritual journey at a fork in the road of our collective destiny. 2020 was about forging our connection with the World Soul, our Wisdom, and our greater dedication. 2021 began the new era in our lives. We’re all wiser than we used to be, have been given ample opportunities to value our heart connections with our friends, and display the vaster spiritual awareness we share with our Brothers and Sisters.

2022 brought us training and skill, divine mutations, endings and beginnings. 2023 began with one last look back before the rapid acceleration that’s been happening the past 9 months. We’re now coming to a greater awareness over the next two weeks, so focus, see the vision, expand and release, as the adjustments are favorable!
