Authentic Goals - Do Your Goals Represent Your TRUE Self?

Are your goals for the future truly authentic goals? Do they represent who you really are?
Since I teach people about the Law of Attraction, I hear from many people who are attempting to manifest all different kinds of things. There are lots of things out there people are wanting!
When I work with people, however, one of the things I try to help them uncover is whether or not their goals are truly authentic goals.
As it turns out, lots of people want to attract things that actually aren’t that terribly important to them.
Why?
Because they think they are “supposed” to have these things, or because they think they can’t do any better.
In other words, often people seek to attract goals from the ego, rather than the authentic self. Here are a few examples:
Example 1: Money
Sometimes people want to attract a large sum of money but not because money is truly that exciting to them.
Why is this?
Sometimes it’s because they think other people will value them if they have money. Other times, they want the money because they think they can’t be happy or free without it. It’s also common for someone to want money because they want to “prove” to other people how good they are at manifesting it.
However, a goal driven in this kind of way isn’t often authentic to the true self. Instead, it’s a goal built on limitations and other people’s perceptions. It is a goal built on ego, rather than authenticity.
On the opposite hand, sometimes people want to attract money because they really get excited by the game of it.
To people like these, money is just a game to be played, and it is a fun one-much like any game one enjoys. Regardless of who is looking or who admires their ability to manifest money, people like this have fun with the process.
Someone with this type of attitude has a goal that is authentic to the self. Attracting money resonates with these people on a level of enjoyment and fun. This is much different than chasing money from a place of lack or the opinions of the peanut gallery.
Naturally, a person in this second category will have a much easier time manifesting money.
Example 2: Love
For another example, sometimes people become obsessed with the idea of finding love. So much so, that they try to attract romantic partners into their lives they know just aren’t any good for them.
Perhaps a woman wants to attract a specific lover she’s known to be abusive and dismissive. Maybe a man wants to attract a woman he’s known to be manipulative and unfaithful. Or perhaps they both simply chase after partners who aren’t interested in them.
Why on Earth would someone want a lover like this?
Many reasons actually, but none that are usually authentic to the true self. When we find ourselves drawn to people who aren’t “good” for us, it is because we are acting from the ego, not from the true authentic self.
The ego often doesn’t believe it is worthy of unconditional love. Instead, the ego often believes in competition and in winners and losers. As such, it is attracted to partners who display behaviors that reinforce these beliefs. Power struggles, chases and games proliferate in the ego-driven relationship.
However, if a person in tune with his or her authentic self wants to manifest a partner, they sing a much different tune. He or she will be very clear on what he or she wants, and will not even entertain the idea of playing cat and mouse games with ego-based lovers.
Someone operating from the authentic self wants a partner to play and have fun with and to genuinely enjoy life with.
A person in tune with his or her authentic self will know when a match is right, and will know when it is not. He or she will not be steered off course, but will stand in the knowing of what he or she is deserving of.
Naturally, people who seek to attract lovers from the authentic self are much more likely to find partners who are fulfilling matches.
Please assess YOUR goals for authenticity
So today I write this article to encourage you to be discerning about your goals.
Ask yourself honestly:
- Do I want what I want because it is an authentic goal to who I am?
- Is this something that will take me higher all by itself, without anyone else’s approval?
- Is this something that is fun for me to manifest? Is it truly enjoyable?
- Does reaching for this goal make me feel good about myself?
If you can answer yes to these questions, you are working with an authentic goal. Seek to manifest goals like these as frequently as you can. The journey will be fun, and you’ll have a lot of success (by your own definition of course!).
