Mercury Retro Dreamy New Moon and Crazy Full Moon Ahead - August Astro Happenings

Hello Friends of astrology,

August is filled with a lot of twists and turns that is meant to keep us alert. Mercury  is essentially retrograde the whole month of August going retro on the 5^th and direct on the 28^th. Venus has become a morning star (good thing) and enters Virgo on the day of the Leo new moon (Aug 4^th) and moves quickly through Virgo on her way to Libra on the 29^th. Mars spends the month in the sign of Gemini and will antagonize Jupiter and Saturn as they square off with each other.

Leo New Moon

The new moon is at 12 degrees of Leo on the 4^th of August. This is a very special degree of Leo as it is with the node of Neptune, the planet that is associated with dreams, fantasy and illusions. It is a lovely atmosphere for summertime fun as it pulls us towards living our dream. It is a great time to chill and do nothing but your favorite activities. The flip side of this new moon is being in a bubble and not paying attention to what is really going on behind the scenes. Neptune is the illusionist; therefore not everything is as it seems. Neptune also rules that which cannot be seen, such as viruses, so watch out for the summer colds and infections.

Mercury retrograde:

Mercury shifts retro on the 4^th at 4 degrees of Virgo. The Sabian symbol for this degree is “ A person dreaming of fairies” . This is a further emphasis for the Leo new moon to focus on imagination, fantasy, dreams, and the messages from the subconscious. It highlights the importance of creativity and intuition. Mercury dips back into Leo on the 14^th and will move direct on the 28^th at 21 degrees of Leo. The Sabian Symbol for 21 degrees of Leo is "Intoxicated chickens dizzily flap their wings trying to fly." This symbol suggests a sense of chaotic or disordered attempts at achieving goals or desires. It can represent misguided enthusiasm, the consequences of overindulgence, or the need to find balance and direction amidst confusion. The symbol highlights the importance of grounding oneself and approaching aspirations with clarity and purpose. If you are waiting to hear important news, be patient, September is the month that responses come in.

Venus in Virgo:

When Venus is in Virgo she wants us to reevaluate our relationship to our health and work. Do you have a work you love? Are you doing all you can to stay healthy? She is quite discerning when it comes to romantic relationships and can be ultra-realistic about whether the person you are spending time with is practical for the long run. She will encourage spending time with others, romantic and friendships, helping each other out in routing activities, like a partner for daily walks or shopping together.

The Aquarius Full Moon

Oh my gosh! This is a full moon to remember! The full moon in Aquarius on the 19^th of August is arguably the most challenging full moons yet this year. Curiously that is coincides with the first day of the USA Democratic National convention. The day before the full moon Mercury is conjunct the Sun representing secret meetings and communications. Venus is opposite disciplinary Saturn, tough choices for between what we value most. 

Part of what makes this full moon so complicated is the planet Uranus is exactly square the sun and moon. Uranus is the planet that is unpredictable and creates unexpected events. In addition we have the first Jupiter square Saturn since the conjunction of these two in December 2020. The new 20-year cycle that began almost 4 years ago is extremely significant as it is the beginning of the Jupiter Saturn conjunction cycles in air signs that will last for 200 years. The focus is now removed from the earth elements and the industrial revolution way of thinking into technology, especially anything related to the air. Think airplanes, rockets, air quality, and monster storms with intense winds along with the AI revolution we are undergoing.

Sun in Virgo

The sun moves into Virgo on the 22^nd in a yod formation with Neptune and Pluto. The yod formation is also call the finger of fate but it really is about making adjustments, and with Pluto and Neptune the adjustments come between wanting our dreams to become our reality and how much we feel that circumstances are controlling what we do. The Virgo season always announces the back to school back and back to work feeling even if we are still catching up mentally from summer fun. We might not be ready to let go of summer fun but the Astro energy is dragging us back to earth loving practical Virgo pursuits. 

Venus in Libra:

Venus moves into Libra on the 29^th of August with her sweet vibe of desiring harmony and pleasantries. As Venus moves through Libra, which continues through the month of September, she encourages us to enjoy friendship and companionship. Social events and activities become in the forefront and squabbles that occurred over personal opinions become less important than maintaining good relationships. Finding and nurturing common ground and interest is easier while Venus is in Libra.

The month ends with the moon in fun loving Leo for the USA holiday weekend. It is a time to soak in fun and create special moments to be remembered.
