August 2023 Monthly Forecast

August 2023 Monthly Forecast

The theme for August is: Change it Up, Create New Space!

At this point we are all looking for things to change, for life to get better, for challenges to get easier, for efforts to have success, and to feel stronger, healthier and more motivated in our lives.

We could have set the theme for this month as more letting go, more release and more discipline, but really the end result we all strive for is freedom from what holds us back from being able to experience the life we are wishing for.

This month is all about being disciplined and proactive in moving beyond the fixed and calcified places in your life, changing it up, and creating space for something new to actually have room to manifest. We are a culture of clutter, nostalgic in our hoarding of old emotional wounds, physical stuff we can’t seem to let go of, and what we cling on to as security in a changing world. Our minds are cluttered with worry. Our hearts are cluttered with emotional turmoil. Our spaces are cluttered with stuff we don’t really need. Our plates are cluttered with responsibilities that are not ours. Security is a big theme these days and we are constantly arming ourselves with what we think will protect us from the unknown.

We are now in a time of crisis where, if we don’t release the past, we simply cannot move on. The theme of “change it up” refers to initiating any small change in your life that can represent movement to a larger change down the road. If you can change one thing permanently, this change will begin to inform the other aspects of your life that seem impossibly fixed. This could be anything from changing the color of your hair to moving something in your environment around, to moving location, getting rid of something in your life that you have been attached to but no longer need, changing your routine, adopting a new practice, eliminating something from your diet or schedule permanently, and the list goes on. The more permanent the change, the more powerful the result.

We are a little worn out by the concept of releasing the past, releasing the past, releasing the past, and tired of hearing the same old phrase. However true this still is, it is time to think of this process of Creating New Space. When you release and neutralize an old negative feeling or attitude from the past, you create the space for a new, more positive experience. When you rehome a physical possession, you create a physical space for something new. When you release your attachment to a dysfunctional relationship, you create the space for a different relationship experience in your life.

The first part of the month can have us emotionally irritated by the awareness of all the clutter and fixities in our lives. We become painfully aware of where we feel stuck and could feel helpless around positive solutions. The full moon on the 1st sets the stage for positive intentions to shift our need for security from the external to the internal. Through our clutter, we have been relying on outer sources of security for far too long. It is time to shift the focus to what is inside of us, and to examine the sources of fear, worry, anxiety, the need to know, the need to be right, and what we are so attached to that we are willing to suffer instead of taking a risk, letting go, and creating new space.

There are so many opportunities this month to turn the tide. It won’t be easy and it will take discipline but think of it as an adventure and embrace the excitement of this new landscape instead of being in fear of the change.

How the month shows up:

YOU PERSONALLY
This is a time of personal growth, self-reflection, truth telling and choice. You can get support from others but don’t expect others to do the hard work for you. This month you can truly change it up for yourself if you have the courage and discipline. Be present and pay attention to what irritates you. This will give you a clue about what needs to change. Avoiding unpleasant situations should be an action taken only after you have reflected on the lesson of that situation. Choose one thing at a time to change even if it is a very small one. Consider a permanent change and commit to doing what it takes to keep it permanent. Start with something easy.

It is also important this month to evaluate all areas of your life to see where you are most irritated and uncomfortable and where most of your clutter and attachment lives. Examine the physical, which includes your body and personal environment and physical possessions; the emotional, which is how you feel and involves self-esteem; the mental, including worries, anxiety, obsession and overthinking. And then, address your spiritual life and belief system. Is it still working for you? Do you have a good practice? Are you doing too much, too little? Where are you lacking discipline?

In some ways this month is more about asking the right questions than getting very clear answers, at least in the beginning. Take advantage of the opportunity instead of being in resistance to it. You could end this month with more freedom, space and positive anticipation of the future.

RELATIONSHIPS
This is a mixed month for relationships as some will fall into the category of needing to change and some will become more of a solid support system and part of a collaborative community. The idea of tribe and being with those that are on the same page is becoming more of a necessity than a desire. Making a conscious choice to eliminate certain patterns of behavior or compromise around certain relationships may have fallout where you will need to exercise good boundaries. Last month was focused on discovering what you really want and desire. This month is a good time to put that into action through whatever change is necessary.

If you are not quite certain about what needs to change in a relationship, start with what you do know. Where do you feel you have wasted time? What feels like an energy leak? Without cancelling the whole relationship, make a behavior change and put forth a new boundary and a desire that is important to you. Completely ghosting a relationship never fully deals with the issue, especially the end that belongs to you. So think before you cut, and start with small changes that can be permanent. Then, if it truly needs to be cut, you have given it a chance.

On the other hand, support is generous and you may find collaboration where you least expect it. When you change a habit, you make room for others to come in and fill the new space with new ways of connecting. So always think of your choices as creating spaces rather than losing something.

HEALTH AND THE PHYSICAL BODY
This is perhaps the most potent area of making change that we have. Since our bodies and well-being are what often run the show, any change you implement here will have long-reaching consequences. The body is a creature of habit and its comfort levels are often around practices and patterns that are not the healthiest. If you do nothing else this month but change something up in your physical habits of diet, exercise, personal activities and self-care, it will be enough to turn the tide on everything else.

Focus on improvement, support and personal health. Get help in this area if you need it. Talk to your body, pay attention to resistance and do what you need to do anyway. It is a good month to work on any old patterns related to the past, your ancestry, and your self-esteem around your well-being. Whatever you do this month that takes you in a positive direction will be extremely supportive in keeping you on the right track. Just change one thing. An example would be for those addicted to screens to eliminate screen use for one evening creating the space for a new experience of going out, taking a class, listening to music, doing some art, talking to a friend or something else.

BUSINESS, PARTNERSHIPS AND PROJECTS
A good month to examine any and all energy leaks in this department. Where do you obsess and worry? Where and with whom are your irritations? What old project feels either complete or needs to be let go of? Where can you free yourself and create more space? This may mean restructuring, delegating, changing it up or simply putting something on hold while you await clarity. Thinking outside the box and being willing to receive ideas and insights from others that you never would have considered is also a good practice for this month. Keep an open mind around what will work as the future is so unpredictable and malleable at this point. It is best not to believe everything you hear especially about economic predictions as anything is possible. Do your own prayers, set your own intentions and use your spiritual allies and support whenever possible. You could be pleasantly surprised by the opportunities, however, if something does go south, don’t take it personally.

ENVIRONMENT
Extremes continue. This is forcing us to pay attention and get creative eliminating any fixed ideas and attachments to how things ought to be. Take what you get without resistance and be as flexible as possible especially around travel plans and schedules.

The Change It Up, Create New Space theme is mostly about eliminating the anxiety about the weather so you give yourself some freedom to simply enjoy what is, as well as paying attention to your personal physical, mental, and emotional environments. Be present and aware of what you have around you, especially if it feels cluttered with old energies. Instead of focusing on getting rid of, focus instead on creating space. Where would you love more space? And what can you do to create it?

Examine what takes up space in your mind and your emotional environment. Usually we are cluttered with some degree of worry, anxiety, judgment and negativity. What can you do to create new space for positivity, optimism, trust and inspiration?

DATES AND TIME FRAMES
August 1: Full Moon in Aquarius is Tuesday, August 1 at 12:31 PM Mountain Daylight Time (MDT).

Known as the Sturgeon Moon, this moon is also a Super Moon and invites us to move forward towards something new, exciting, different and adventurous. The theme is freedom. We yearn for freedom from being trapped in past emotional fear, regret, disappointment, anger, shame, non-worthiness and more. Observe these emotions coming up as well as the intense desire to move beyond what holds us back. Use this impulsive energy to liberate yourself from one thing that you truly feel complete with. It could be an addiction, part of your wardrobe, part of your diet, a practice or routine, an attitude, a release of something physical you have been unable to let go of, a relationship, something in your physical environment, and the list goes on…. If you change one thing in your life permanently, it will begin to influence everything else that needs to change.

The other aspect of this moon is the support for better boundaries. Examine where your boundaries are especially around your areas of challenge. Are they too fixed? Too loose? Outdated? In need of resetting? Strive for balance between what you need and what everyone else needs. You can say “No” as long as it is not a triggered reaction. Your motivation should always be your personal well-being and self-care. If there is emotional tension, step back, take a breath and look at the situation from a place of neutrality and personal responsibility.

You also have an opportunity to reach down into your own inner power, truth and strength, and to manifest it physically through action, adventure and proactive choice. Let the past stay in the past and move towards embracing the future with courage, excitement and inspiration for what could be. Think of this as the gateway to a new direction, new experiences and new outcomes.

August 1-7: The full moon sets the trend this week of examining what is too fixed and what is too loose. There may be times of chaos, uncertainty, having too much energy or not enough, and feeling a bit out of sync with life in general. Instead of being in denial or avoidance, pay close attention to what is niggling at you for change. Where are your irritations? Balance your time between dreaming outside the box and taking responsibility for what needs attention.

Among the aspects examined this week are your stability and security, areas of addiction and comfort, and the attachments to your beliefs around stability, security and comfort.

August 8-15: Time to clean up, let go, re-home, clear away and create space for something new. Take your time but once you decide, make it permanent. This is a good and important time frame to focus on what is close to home, taking time for yourself if you need it, nurturing and sharing your creative ideas but without the stress of having to implement anything except the clearing process you may be experiencing. Distance yourself from annoying situations and always move your thoughts to the positive aspects of creating new space. Make sure you include that which will support your boundaries and sense of security and safety.

Discipline is helpful during this time as well as listening to your intuition and always coming from the heart.

August 16: New Moon in Leo is Wednesday, August 16 at 12:31 PM Mountain Daylight Time (MDT).

August 16-23: The New Moon sets the energy for embracing something new coming into the space you have created. There is a focus on generosity, support, eccentricity and adventure. Keep it different and new and pay attention to what is coming into your field. Try and do routine things differently, focus on small tasks, simple responsibilities. Honor anything that you have changed permanently and keep reflecting on what you want instead of compromising to another’s desires.

There could be periods of overwhelm during this time. Make sure to include necessary balance of taking breaks and time for yourself, especially around decisions that could end up in permanent change. Break larger issues and projects into baby steps and keep details as organized as possible.

August 24-30: Mercury is now in retrograde. Simplify by doing one thing at a time and removing unnecessary stress whenever possible. Be flexible around demands. It is OK to say no as long as it is not from a negative reaction but a well-thought-out truth. This is also a great time frame to think of expansion, freedom and movement of something new into the future. You have support to take on a big project as long as you feel in control of all the details. If there is still something that needs a change up, do it now. This can turn into a bid for power that will gain energy and support if it is right.

August 30: Full Moon in Pisces, the second one this month and known as a Blue Moon, is Wednesday, August 30 at 7:35PM Mountain Daylight Time (MDT).

It is the closest super moon of the year and a powerful time.

Have a great month!
