Humility's Disguise

Greetings, Luminous One!
This week let's talk about what Humility isn't...
Last week, we explored the idea that judgement often kicks the slats out from under Humility because when we're in judgment, we're identifying ourselves as just a little bit (or a lot!) better than the one(s) we're judging.
And we do it all the time. It's a tough habit to kick.
This leads me to the think about other things that undermine maintaining a consistent state of Humility.
One confusion is that insecurity can often pose as Humility, and this is often such a fine line that it's hard to tease out.
I'm really familiar with this one due to the fact that I grew up with tremendous insecurity about my capacities because first, I had the temerity to be born a girl (there were hopes for a son as the first child), and second, our family's intelligence was always measured against my father's brilliant mind. Rational thinking was lauded as the highest rung one could achieve, but no one could ever top my dad in this department.
(How ironic that I would have to "lose my mind" in order to be ruled by the heart! If you don't know what I'm referring to, read my Infinity Wave book - see below.)
This kind of set-up can create an impossible striving for perfection that in turn creates an insecurity which then shows up as self-deprecation, over-compliance and even introversion.
Living as an apology for one's existence has the effect of lowering one's frequency, and I don't think that's what Source would want us to aspire to.
Source wants us to be vitally alive, not shrinking in lack of self-esteem.
True Humility starts with the ability to honestly assess and accept one's positive and less-positive traits with loving compassion, in order to cultivate a calm strength and confidence.
It takes courage to stare oneself in the face like this, but isn't it true that all self-improvement requires this?
In fact, we can't really experience inner growth if we don't have the Humility and courage to frankly gaze at ourselves in the mirror.
As we continue our excavation into the gold mine of Humility, let's see if we can begin by forgiving ourselves for our current imperfections and promise to move forward from here with kindness and patience for ourselves.
Little by little, each day provides an opportunity for more evolution.
"Whenever we gain enlightenment and knowledge, our ego grows; be aware of it and control it. Humbleness is mandatory for actual growth." -Author unknown
Have a beautiful week!
Much love and infinite blessings,
Hope
