The Secret of Enlightenment

The Secret of Enlightenment

The secret is out.  The way to enlightenment and realization is total acceptance of self.  Of the dark, and the light, of the masculine and feminine, of the human personality with the mind and heart.  It’s the acceptance of the soul, and the divine eternal self, the I AM.  It’s the acceptance of all the facets and aspects from all of our lifetimes, past, present and future.

That’s it, in a nutshell.  So, we’re done here.  Nothing more to say about it.  It’s simple.  Don’t even need to write it down,  it’s easy to remember.  Enlightenment is total acceptance of the self.

But, wait.  Is that even possible?  Isn’t the human by nature a self-critical being?  It’s more apt to criticize itself than love and accept itself.  The human has fallen from grace.  He has spent lifetimes trying to prove worthiness.  He doesn’t feel worthy of love.  If he did, why would he create such a judgmental god?

I hear people talk about the human race with such disdain sometimes.  Like we are less worthy than any of a number of gods and angels, and archangels.  Or that other species on other planets are somehow more evolved than us,

No matter how accomplished, how much money, good looks, or whatever a human has attained, I guarantee they still do not feel worthy.  Even if they are philanthropic. Even if they give up their worldly possessions, and become a recluse, and follow a spiritual path, there is something within them that feels they are still not enough.

They believe the must prove worthiness in some way or another.

So people try to feel worthy, by using human criteria.  By trying to become better as the human.  Which as we know is a trap.  It’s a trap of the mind.

But it’s understandable.  The mind has been running the show for lifetimes.  It’s been the one responsible for our health our financial security, and our joy.  And now it’s trying to achieve enlightenment and embodied realization, too.

Yes, that’s really true.  But we can’t expect the human to do any of the above, at least not by itself.

The most important step in our realization is accepting the human, and all of its addictions to trying, doing, and to judging.   Even to pain and suffering.  Stepping out of that role will not happen over night.  Nor should it.  The human has been traumatized by life. It’s going to take patience to let go of those behaviors that led to being so traumatized.

But, the secret is to accept that the human is a bit stubborn.  She is not so willing to let go of the control.  She’s scared.  He doesn’t trust life, his soul, or his body.  She still believes that her human self is her identity.

And the sooner we can be o.k. with that, the faster it transforms the human.  There is no point in re-traumatizing the human.  Being gentle works so much better.

So what part of us does the accepting and has the patience?  Mostly the human heart, the soul, and the eternal self.  But the human mind needs to allow to the degree it can, so that it opens up the door for the divine self to enter and bless our mind and our body and our life with its radiance.

It’s very transformative.  And then the mind has something to count on.  It begins to trust more that the soul has its back, and that the body is able to rebalance itself.

So when things come up, emotions, pain, disease, anything, it’s imperative to allow it to be.  Not to try to fix it, or to blame the human for not being able to.  Allow the divine self to just be with the emotions or the condition just as it is.

That’s profound.  And not so easy, is it?

But, the secret of embodied enlightenment is to just allow everything to be as it is.  And in that allowing comes also the Eternal Self, and all of its love and its transformative energies.

The consciousness we call our soul, and our eternal self do not contain any energy, but energy is harnassed to use for whatever is in our heart to create.

The eternal self has no emotions, only sensations.  It doesn’t have the ups and downs, the dualistic thoughts of good and bad, right and wrong, happy and sad.  But it has deep compassion for its human aspect, with all of its emotional and physical trauma.

Which is why this embodied enlightenment thing is so tricky.  The human has to become used to the soul not participating in drama.  In the tumultuous emotions from the mind.  And the soul has to get used to being intimate with a human that doesn’t trust that there is an easy way, a graceful way to create.

But none of that is necessary to know.  There is nothing the human needs to know, other than total acceptance of self.  And that the human isn’t responsible any more for creating their life.

That last one is a whole other post.
