The Council: Significance of the Twelve Precious Stones Mentioned in Revelations

Here William LePar’s spiritual source, The Council, give us information about the stones in the wall of New Jerusalem. We are presenting versions of the passages from two Bibles. The Council always recommended at least two different Bible readings when references were made to passages in the Bible.
Questioner: What is the significance of the twelve precious stones in the Wall of New Jerusalem? Do you want the Bible quote read from Revelations?
The Council: The Book of Revelation is a very touchy book to deal with. There are some avenues that we will not be able to discuss, but if you wish an explanation, very well.
Q: The Jerusalem Bible reads, "The foundations of the city were faced with all kinds of precious stone. The first with diamond, the second lapis lazuli, the third turquoise, the fourth crystal, the fifth agate, the sixth ruby, the seventh gold quartz, the eighth malachite, the ninth topaz, the tenth emerald, the eleventh sapphire, and the twelfth amethyst. The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate being made of a single pearl."
Q: And the New American translation, Rev. 21:19-21: "The foundation of the city wall was ornate with precious stones of every sort. The first course of stones was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, the fifth sardonyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh hyacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. The twelve gates were as twelve pearls, each made of a single pearl; and the streets of the city were of pure gold, transparent as glass."
The Council: Well, if we may jest with all of you for a moment then, let us suggest that you all run out and buy these stones and drape them around yourselves and this will be the key to the whole problem of life. (Laughter from those present)
The precious stones: if you use a little wisdom, what need does heaven have for such stones? What need really does man have for such stones other than what he deems necessary? Value that such stones would have really have no value at all. Man says they have a value but what makes one stone more valuable than another? It is man's judgment. Now, what is really being discussed there, and this would be good for all of you to participate in, is that in those days certain stones were deemed to have certain qualities. In other words a pearl for instance was symbolic of purity, you see, and each of these stones then that are mentioned have their symbolic interpretation or a virtue of man. There was no mystery in the properties of these stones; although now we are not saying that certain stones do not have an influence on the physical container because they do, they do; they have a healing influence if the soul prescribes to such things.
So in a sense even the vibrations from stones can have an effect on the physical container in respects to healing, but in this sense this is not intended. If you would care to really find out what such phrases mean or what the precious stones really mean, then start searching in what material you have available in your world today, because all the meanings are there. You look at the meaning that has the highest quality to it. So that you are not misled, each stone according to time and according to land or people, whatever, placed a certain meaning to each stone or a certain virtue that man should have, and many times people would wear these stones to increase that virtue. The stone itself did not increase that virtue one iota, but it only had a psychological effect on the physical container, what have you. But if you want to know what the foundations of the New Jerusalem will be or the new temple or the new you, then look up what history says these stones will attribute to you, and use only those interpretations that call for the highest degree of caliber or character, the highest standards, and you will have what the Bible is talking about.
Now, we are a little surprised to see that there is a disappointment in that interpretation, but that happens to be exactly what the Bible speaks of, what John is writing of. Man has virtues that he must demonstrate; the soul has virtues it must demonstrate; and that is the only way it can build a new being for itself or a new relationship with its God, by demonstrating these virtues or characters. Not much mystery involved in that passage. There is no secret there. A secret possibly to your time, simply because you are not accustomed to such concepts. Very well.
