In the second part of this series on pets William LePar’s spiritual source, The Council, gives advice on some difficult questions.

Questioner:  If you would take say a cat into your home, is it proper to have the cat declawed to save your furniture?

The Council:  If in a situation like that, if an individual is willing to assume the additional responsibility needed in the protection of that cat, then there would be no objection to it.

Questioner:  Okay.

The Council:  But to have such a thing done to the cat and then not assume the responsibility is not good.  The only means of defense that a cat would have would be its claws.  To remove that defense, natural defense, and set it out in life is cruel.

Questioner:  What if you have a cat and you take it to the vet, say it is sick, and the vet tells you it has a 50% chance of living if you treat it and it has a 50% chance of dying even if you treat it,     what should you do in a situation like that?

The Council:  You can only go on the word of the physician, and the choice that you make in a situation like that would have no real, shall we say, judgment involved.

Questioner:  Okay.

The Council:  We would say that if the physician would say that an animal has a 50% chance of existing, the chances are (of course this would depend on the physician and experience with that physician would tell you), the chances are that the chances for the animal's recovery would be far less than 50%.

Questioner:  Yes.

The Council:  Again, according to your experience with the physician.  There are some who certainly have the well being of the animal in mind.
