This New Moon is at 00 degrees 07 minutes Sagittarius. It is pure Sagittarius whose symbol is the Archer Centaur aiming his arrow towards the heavens. This is the sign of the “free spirit” who is seeking to experience life to its fullest. If Sagittarius feels restricted he/she will want to escape whatever is causing the restriction. On the material/physical plane Sagittarius is associated with higher education, philosophy, ideology, religion, cultural beliefs, and travel to distant lands. The shadow side of this sign is to become rigid and dogmatic in their beliefs. A “my way, or the highway” attitude. 

Spiritually Sagittarius is linked to Higher Consciousness and that is why we are calling this Lunation the Moon of Spiritual Awakening. This New Moon supports us on our search for truth and MEANING in our lives. We have just been through the Scorpio New Moon cycle, the Moon of Transformation. Since that was a Solar Eclipse the theme of transformation is with us until 20 March 2015 (the next Solar Eclipse). So this Sagittarius New Moon is about transforming old belief patterns that keep us stuck and prevent our consciousness from expanding spiritually and becoming limitless. The key lesson is to “set your spirit free.”

The traditional planetary ruler for this Sagittarius New Moon is Jupiter currently at 22 degrees of Leo. Jupiter in Leo is expansion personified. Our ability to respond to life with courage, conviction, and creativity is enhanced. Leo is also the sign of “courage to be your authentic self”. Jupiter is supporting us to do just that. He is sextile the North Node at 18 degrees Libra (new harmonious directions) and trine the South Node at 18 degrees Aries (easily releasing limitations of the past). Jupiter is also trine Vesta at 24 degrees Sagittarius (spiritual vision). All these connections are opportunities for ease and harmony.

But the Universe likes to challenge us too. Jupiter in Leo is square (finding new ways of doing things) Mercury at 21 Scorpio (our thoughts and perceptions) and Saturn at 26 degrees Scorpio (transforming and releasing limitation and restrictions). So the theme of transforming old belief patterns that keep us stuck is repeated with this square. Mars at 20 degrees Capricorn (right action) is also in a square activation with the North Node at 18 degrees Libra (new harmonious directions) and the South Node at 18 degrees Aries (releasing the limitations of the past) and the dwarf planet Eris at 22 degrees of Aries (Goddess of discord and strife who instigated the Trojan War). In Greek mythology she is linked to Ares (Mars) the god of war as either his sister or companion. So Mars square Eris is very significant and asks us to step out of conflict and strife into purposeful and right action. That is the positive influence of Eris.  

The Soul Centered planetary ruler of Sagittarius is Earth currently at 00 degrees Gemini 07 minutes. Gemini is a symbol of duality something very prevalent in the world right now. The traditional Gemini ruler is Mercury (our thoughts and perceptions). We talked about Mercury earlier as He is in square aspect to Jupiter. The Soul Centered ruler of Gemini is Venus, the harmonizer of the Universe. She is at 07 degrees Sagittarius at this Lunation travelling with the Sun/Moon. They are all square Neptune at 04 degrees Pisces (illusion or illumination). The question what is true, what is not true, what can never be true, is a powerful lesson at this New Moon. Venus (self-love) is also square Chiron at 13 degrees Pisces giving us all the power for healing and releasing what can never be true. Once we are able to do that our spirits are free. Venus in Sagittarius is also asking us to honour others as they to walk the path of truth and be teachers of loving kindness to all.

In the northern hemisphere this is the Long Nights and Long Snows Time. Elk, strength and stamina, and Owl, wisdom, are our guides. In the southern hemisphere this is The Flowering Time with Deer, sensitivity and compassion, as your guide. While the Sun visits Sagittarius it is time to focus on our spiritual vision for a better world.

The Clan Mother for this Lunation is Gives Praise. She is the guardian of giving thanks for the truth and making space for abundance. She teaches us to be grateful for all the lessons that strengthen our Inner Selves. Sagittarius is part of the Tarot Constellation of The Hierophant, the principle of Learning and Teaching. It requires that we learn in a hands-on way so we can integrate the lessons and then be a teacher for others. The Hierophant is the fifth card in the Tarot journey and is seen as a Wise Sage or Shaman. Sagittarius is the fourteenth card and shows us the path after we have released what no longer serves us. This can be a challenging Constellation for it requires that we be true to ourselves.

In terms of the Ray energies Sagittarius is complicated. It begins on 4th Ray of Harmony Through Conflict with Archangels Gabriel, transformation and resurrection, and Hope, faith and trust as our guides. When that Ray is mastered the next is 5th Ray, Concrete Knowledge and Healing, with Raphael, the shinning one who heals, and Mary, Divine Unconditional Love, guiding us. The final Ray Sagittarius expresses is perhaps the most difficult. It is the 6th of Idealism and Devotion. We can all see how that is being expressed in the world right now. Even the Rays have a shadow side. The Archangels of 6th Ray are Uriel, peace and love, and Aurora Grace, gratitude and balance. You decide which Ray you want to embody for this Moon cycle.

There is no story this time but I think Snowy Owl and Shooting Star are on their own search for meaning. I believe the message from the last story still resonates. We are all the LIGHT OF COSMIC CONSCIOUNESS. We just need to shine that LIGHT out into the world.
