Mars enters Sagittarius- Mar 05-9.29 pm EST- Mar 06- 2.29 am GMT

Usually I give the end date for a planetary journey through a particular Zodiac sign but this Mars dance is complicated. He has been travelling through Scorpio since Jan 03 supporting us to identify what is no longer of value and work at releasing whatever that is. His Animal Totem guide for that Scorpio sojourn has been Snake, shedding the old. Now that he has entered Sagittarius you might feel ready to forge full steam ahead but there is a curve in the road coming or even a boulder blocking your path. Here are the important dates for this Mars journey over the next 6 months.

• Mar 05 to Apr 17- Mars travels from 00 degrees Sagittarius to 08 degrees Sagittarius

• April 17- Mars turns retrograde retracing the path he has just travelled

• May 22- Mars Rx is opposite the Sun and at his brightest.

• May 27- Mars retrograde re-enters 29 degrees Scorpio and travels backward to 23 degrees Scorpio until June 29 when he moves direct.  

• Aug 02- Mars again enters Sagittarius until Sept 27

• Aug 22- Mars leaves his retrograde shadow

As you can see Mars is not finished with Scorpio yet. He is the planet that symbolizes motivation to take action but his shadow energy is aggressiveness and disruption.  As the god of war he rules weaponry and in Jan/Feb while he was visiting Scorpio (death) there was an increase in gun violence and knife assaults (in Toronto and elsewhere) that resulted in fatalities. Instead of transformation (Scorpio) people were choosing destruction (Pluto, ruler of Scorpio).  There has to be healing at a very deep level for the ego to release its need for control and the destruction that results. Perhaps that will be the transformational gift when Mars revisits Scorpio May 27 to Aug 02. The Sacred Animal for Scorpio is the Phoenix, resurrection.

Now that Mars has entered Sagittarius his positive influence is to break free from the egos aggressiveness and actively express our spiritual consciousness as spiritual warriors for good. He is in Sagittarius until May 27 but that is the first part of the journey. Mars will re-enter Scorpio on May 27 and we will have the opportunity for deep healing that leads to transformation. As we mentioned Snake, shedding the old, and The Phoenix, resurrection, are the guides for his Scorpio visit to Aug 02.  Pluto in Capricorn (transforming society) is the planetary guide.

Our Animal Totem guides for Mars in Sagittarius are Elk, strength and stamina, and Owl, the wisdom to see through deception and discern the truth and live by that truth.  The planetary guide is Jupiter in Virgo, the Rainbow Bridge of Healing into Wholeness. Think of Mars in Sagittarius as the Archer pulling the string taunt on the bow to let the arrow fly to new experiences. But not quite yet. First we have to revisit Scorpio and release what no longer serves us so we have clear vision about where it is we actually want to go.

The Ray (Ageless Wisdom Teachings) Mars activates for Scorpio is Fourth Ray of harmony through conflict or harmony through beauty with Archangels Gabriel, resurrection, and Hope, never giving up. Mars in Sagittarius is also Fourth Ray as well as the Fifth Ray of knowledge and healing with Raphael, the shinning one who heals, and Mary, unconditional love, as our Archangel guides.  Sagittarius is also found on the Sixth Ray of idealism and devotion, with Archangels Uriel, peace and harmony, and Aurora Grace, beauty and love, as our guides.

And remember Mars is the Spiritual Warrior who can make positive things happen if we focus on his gift of connecting with our Higher Consciousness.
