Astrology Basics
For centuries, humans have looked to the heavens for guidance. Astrology is, put simply, the study of the correlation between the astronomical positions of the planets and events on earth. Astrologers believe that the positions of the Sun, Moon, and planets at the time of a person's birth have a direct influence on that person's character. These positions are thought to affect a person's destiny, although many Astrologers feel that free will plays a large role in any individual's life.

Celtic Zodiac
According to Druid teaching, which is thought to reach back to 500 BCE, each tree contains a dryad, or magical tree spirit. Celtic Astrology, based on the mystical tree calendar in which the tree dryads represent the spiritual nature in human beings, will help you gain new understanding of yourself and of others. All you need is the day and month of birth to find the corresponding tree sign to enhance the dynamics of your inner world: emotions, feelings, spirituality, and the subconscious mind.
Discover your lunar self through the wisdom of the ancient Druids. Solar-oriented astrology has dominated Western astrological thought for centuries, but lunar-based Celtic astrology provides the "Yin" principle that has been neglected in the West.
The Celtic zodiac is based on the cycle of the moon with the year divided into 13 lunar months, each associated with a tree considered to be sacred to the Druids.
-
Chinese Zodiac
The Chinese Zodiac consists of a 12-year cycle, each year of which is named after a different animal that imparts distinct characteristics to its year. Many Chinese believe that the year of a person's birth is the primary factor in determining that person's personality traits, physical and mental attributes and degree of success and happiness throughout his or her lifetime. It also shows your compatibility with people of the other signs.

Native American Astrology
Native Americans throughout time have held sacred, the connection between nature, animal, and man. Native American astrology is based upon your birth animal totem, which is the animal spirit that you are born under. A birth totem is similar to an astrological sign of the zodiac. Your birth totem can tell you many things about your personality, your attitudes, your abilities and your short comings. These totems are often referred to as solar totems because they encompass many aspects of the "solar" system. From seasonal relationships to moon phases. But a birth totem is not the same thing as a spiritual totem or having a particular animal as a spirit guide. Those relationships are purely spiritual in nature. The animal acts as a teacher along your path specifically for spiritual understanding and growth.
As a birth totem, these aspects of the "birthing sign" are much more than just spiritual symbolism set along the road to help us understand a certain situation in our life. These aspects tell us about who we are, why we probably look at things in a certain way and react to situations or people using particular responses. We are more in tune with the characteristics of these aspects, almost as if we are a mirror of those traits and qualities. We can therefore use their strengths to help us over come our weaknesses. In other words, like other astrology systems the world over, Native American astrology can give you insight into who you are, who someone else is, and how the two of you would interact.
Animal birth totems play an intrinsic part in Native American astrology. Roughly equating to the western astrology sun signs that we are all familiar with they make for an interesting alternative to the more conventional. The signs are far from being just symbolic though. They effectively form a route map for life.

Zodiac Signs
The zodiac is divided into 12 signs, each 30 degrees long. The cycle of zodiac signs starts with Aries, which begins at the spot on the ecliptic where the Sun is on the first day of spring. These 30 degree sections of the sky are actually blocks of space, not time.
Zodiac signs are often confused in the popular mind with "sun signs". When a person says, "I'm an Aries!", what they're really saying is they were born at a time of the year when the Sun is in the zodiac sign of Aries. Because our calendar is designed to mimic the motions of the Sun around the zodiac, the Sun is in Aries at nearly the same time period each year (roughly March 20th or 21st to April 19th or 20th). Hence the 12 sun signs are like months of a calendar based on the zodiac. They represent time, not space.
The motions of the other planets through the zodiac signs can be quite irregular, compared to the Sun's motion. On average, they range from the fast moving Moon (which spends about 2-1/2 days in each sign) to the slow poke Pluto (roughly 12 to 24 years in each sign).

Moon Cycles
According to astrology, the moon's cycle can affect the way we feel about things. In particular, when the moon is full or new, both males and females can experience dramatic changes in their mood and behavior.
When the moon is full, stress becomes a major factor and people become more sensitive to details. An overload of work will add to the frustration and people will deal with their own needs rather than paying attention to others' needs. Often, a lack of assertiveness will be obvious.
A new moon brings with it the sense of calmness. In this moon cycle, people's emotions get back to normal, their determination will return with the feeling that anything can be accomplished, and there will be more energy and acceptance of other other's ideas.
The term "moon cycle" (or "lunar cycle") refers to the moon's continuous orbit around the earth. As the moon orbits the earth, its appearance (the "phase") changes and thus gives us an indication of the moon's progress in the cycle (the "age").
The sun always illuminates exactly one-half of the moon, but we see it at different angles as it rotates around the earth. With the naked eye, we can see only the part of the moon that the sun is illuminating. For instance, a crescent moon is what we call the moon when we see only a small portion of its illuminated surface.
We give the parts of the moon cycle different names, according to how the moon appears to us. In order of appearance:
- New (also called the Dark Moon) - not visible
- Waxing Crescent
- First Quarter - commonly called a "half moon"
- Waxing Gibbous
- Full - we can see the entire illuminated portion of the moon
- Waning Gibbous
- Third Quarter - another "half moon", but the illuminated part is opposite of the First Quarter
- Waning Crescent
- New - back to the beginning
This complete lunar cycle (New Moon to New Moon) is also called a "lunation". During this time the moon will completely circle the earth. That's the scientific definition, but you can take any phase; for instance a so-called "full moon cycle" would be from Full Moon to Full Moon.

Full Moon Meditation Series
The time of the full moon is a period when spiritual energies are uniquely available and facilitate a closer rapport between humanity and the higher dimensions, spirit guides and God/Goddess. Each month the inflowing energies carry the specific qualities of the constellation influencing the particular month; these energies playing sequentially upon humanity, establish the "divine attributes" in the consciousness of humanity.
The Full Moon is admired and honored by many people of a variety of religions and spiritual paths. The Full moon is the most celebrated moon phase in the long history of religious faith. Within the basics of Wicca, it is a symbol of the goddess. It represents the feminine energies and powers that we can draw upon every month to add strength and an extra boost to our lives and our intentions and desires.

New Moon Meditation Series
The New Moon is a time for new beginnings, for introspection, and looking within. It is a wonderful time to start new projects, and to plant seeds. It is also a good time to acknowledge our emotions, especially the ones we tend to push aside. The simple act of allowing ourselves to feel those emotions, to sit with them rather than trying to fix them, can be very life affirming and healing. It is a time to be gentle with ourselves, allowing our emotions to speak to us and reveal their wisdom. You can sit quietly with yourself, light a candle, and allow yourself to express yourself in whatever way feels right. That could include drawing, writing, painting, journaling, singing, dancing, speaking, songwriting or soaking in a warm bath. The energies of the Moon will support you in doing this, and you might be surprised at your creativity.

New Moon Energy Series
The New Moon – Is a time for focusing on our desires, dreams & what we want to manifest now. It’s a time to look within to discover what we really want. It’s a chance to discern our deepest, truest, desires and then manifest them naturally.
The new moon holds the promise of a new beginning, of new life. The energy is quiet, intuitive, and deeply spiritual. As the old cycle ends, it offers a chance to reset our intentions and begin anew. Take this time to reflect and consider what you want to manifest before the next full moon.
The New Moon is all about manifesting, so be sure you know what it is you want. It is also known as the dreaming Moon, so it’s the perfect time to pay attention to your dreams from your sleep state and from your waking state.
