As Snowy Owl and Shooting Star climbed the path to the Star Temple the night air was warmer than it had been for many Moons. It still had a crispness to it but Grandfather Sun’s warm rays during the daytimes had melted the snow packs and it finally felt like spring. Their friends Red Thunderbird Warrior and Runs With The Salmon had finally been able to return to their home on the other side of Turtle Island just after the last New Moon ceremony. The sisters felt a little sadness that the men would not be here to join them in this Full Moon celebration. They had been to visit the Shaman earlier this day and he told them this Full Moon was the Red Moon and very important but he also told them they would not be able to see it visually from their location as at the exact time of the Lunation the Moon had already set. The young women wondered if Little Owl would be waiting for them at the Star Temple to take them on a journey so they could see the Red Moon. The Winged One with the heart shaped face was Snowy Owl’s spirit guide.

And there he was perched on the lower branch of the Standing One who guarded the sisters’ magic flying capes. Little Owl said “I have been waiting for you. It is time to fly to the other side of Turtle Island to see the Red Moon”. Immediately Snowy Owl and Shooting Star put on their feather capes and followed Little Owl out into the night sky. He led them west over lakes and forests, over the vast flat prairie plains, and then the magnificent mountain range. Finally they arrived at their destination, the coast of the great ocean. And waiting for them were Red Thunderbird and Runs With The Salmon. The four friends were grateful to be together again to celebrate this Full Moon ceremony.

As they looked out over the ocean Sister Moon’s full face was silver and reflected in the vast waters. And then as she entered the Earth Mother’ shadow she began to turn red. After a while Luna’s full face became crimson orange. The foursome felt the power of the Red Moon. It gave them a feeling of the Mystical Realms and The Mysteries. This was indeed a special Full Moon.

Sister Moon spoke “This Full Moon is about inner balance and inner harmony. The spirit walkers who are guiding me are Crow, sacred law and justice for all, and Raven, the guardian of The Mysteries. In the far away time I am called the Blood Moon because of my colour. Some two leggeds are fearful and superstitious about this thinking it is a bad omen. But I, the Red Moon, give every human the opportunity to enter The Mysteries and discover their Soul Essence Self which is only wanting to be Love. When that happens Harmony, and Peace happens.” Sister Moon paused for a moment then spoke again “Evening Star is the Wanderer who guides me. She is asking all two leggeds to focus on what is of true value and importance. Not what the mind identifies as value but to be guided by your Soul’s Wisdom. Together we are asking you to be the Harmonizers of the Universe so Balance will be restored.  When you find your sacred center, your Essence Self, you find the balance within. Then you are able to be the Peaceful Warriors who can change the world”.

By the time Sister Moon had completed her message she had returned to her usual silver colour and was now dipping below the western horizon. Grandfather Sun was beginning to rise in the east. The four friends knew this was the time to walk the path of the Peaceful Warrior and each of them embraced the opportunity to become harmonizers for the Universe.

This total eclipse of the Moon can be seen on the morning of April 04 over the Pacific Ocean and from the west coast to Mountain Time of North and South America and in the evening of April 04 in Asia, and Australia. New Zealand will also see the eclipse but I believe it will be the early hours of April 05. Where I live the Sun will have risen before the Eclipse so I wish I had a magic feather cape to travel to a location where the Red Moon is visible. But thanks to our story I do get to experience the magic and it reminds me of the times I have seen a Lunar Eclipse and it is does have a mystical feeling.

At this Libra Full Moon the focus is on committed relationship. The question to ask “is my primary relationship blossoming or at a point of needing completion and release?” Healing, completion and release is the theme of the Pisces New Moon Eclipse that occurred on March 20. The planetary ruler for the Libra Moon is Venus currently at 21 degrees Taurus. She is the Evening Star our story mentioned and asking us to value and believe in ourselves. The Full Moon in Libra is also about the relationship to self. Venus is in a sextile aspect (ease and opportunity) with Chiron at 18 degrees of Pisces (spiritual healing). The Soul Centered ruler for Libra is Uranus at 16 degrees Aries (breaking through to the authentic self). He is traveling with the Sun (our individual identity) at 14 degrees Aries and is still square (finding new ways of doing things) Pluto at 15 degrees Capricorn (transformation and release).  In fact today the Libra Moon will square Pluto at 10.18am EDT and oppose Uranus at 11.59am EDT so the Uranus/Pluto theme of make a decision, take action, and break free from the old to breakthrough to new, is still very potent at this Full Moon and will continue to be until the Aries New Moon of April 18/19 (depending on your time zone).

The Sun in Aries is travelling with the Fixed Star Alpheratz (14 degrees Aries) in the Constellation of Andromeda, the princess. This Star is a symbol for independent action and a love of movement and freedom.  The Constellation is a symbol for feminine receptiveness.  This could become problematic if relationship does not support independence. The ruler of the Aries Sun is Mars at 02 degrees Taurus. In Taurus he can be quite stubborn. Mars is square the Asteroid Ceres (the nurturing principle) at 00 degrees Aquarius (companionship) and the Asteroid Juno (being in relationship in new ways) at 04 degrees Leo (the ego or the heart).  Mars is also inconjunct (letting go) Saturn Rx at 04 degrees Sagittarius (dogmatic beliefs). This is a T Square making us feel backed into a corner especially if we are working with Yang (masculine) energy. But fortunately Mars is sextile (ease and opportunity) the Asteroid Vesta (at oneness within) at 03 degrees Pisces (spiritual understanding). The Cosmic Dance always seems to give us a way out of challenging energy. The Soul Centered ruler for the Sun is Mercury at 08 degrees Aries (inspired new beginnings) and Mercury is travelling with the South Node at 10 degrees Aries (releasing the self-absorption of the past). This is a complex and powerful Full Moon giving us all a chance to be in relationship to self and others in a balanced and harmonious way.

As our story mentioned the Animal Totems who guide us for the Full Moon in Libra are Crow, Sacred Law and fairness for all, and Raven, the magic of the Mysteries. For the Sun in Aries our guides are Falcon, clear vision, and Red Tailed Hawk, spiritual messages. The Clan Mother for the Moon in Libra is Weaves The Web. She is the guardian of the creative force and teaches us to release the old and make space for the new.  For the Sun in Aries it is Looks Far Woman. This Full Moon asks us to find harmony in our worlds by balancing the active assertive Yang energy (Sun in Aries) with intuitive and receptive Yin energy (Moon in Libra). Libra is found on the Tarot Constellation of The High Priestess; principle of balanced judgment through Intuitive awareness. Pluto (transformation) and the Moon (wisdom) are also part of this Constellation. The Aries Sun activates the Tarot Constellation of The Emperor; life force and power. Scorpio (transformation) and Uranus (breakthrough) are also part of this Constellation. Great Mystery has provided all we need to transform and breakthrough. The human kingdom just needs to wake up.

Moon in Libra is active on the 3^rd Ray of Divine Mind and Intelligence with Archangels Chamuel, healing through Divine Love, and Charity, gratitude, guiding us. The Sun in Aries is active on the 7th Ray of Invocation and Ceremonial Magic. Our Archangel guides are Zadkiel, the angel of Invocation and Prayer, and Amethyst, the angel of Divine Light and Forgiveness. Together they are the Keepers of the Violet Flame of Ascension and Transmutation. Aries is also found on the 1^st Ray of Divine Will and Power with Archangels Michael, Divine Protection and Spiritual Guide, and Faith, belief in the Divine Self. As always Great Mystery gives us everything we need to remember who we really are and be the change we want to see in the world.
