Law of Attraction, Awakening, and Oneness

Law of Attraction, Awakening, and Oneness

Trying to manifest ‘things’ is a step on the ladder but not the final step. The final step is awakening. It’s exciting when one learns that they create their reality.

Many get trapped here wanting to accumulate more and more material things which keeps them even more trapped in the ego illusion. Understanding that we create our reality is not the final goal. The law of attraction and all laws are not the ultimate reality. They are only necessary while karma exists, while separation exists. They are only useful on earth to help us awaken.

The final step or goal is love; oneness; awakening. Once one recognizes their oneness with God, the need to crave and desire things naturally ceases. And yet everything you need comes to you but is no longer your focus because you have found the real treasure. You have found your true self. This is what Jesus constantly taught in his gospel of the kingdom. It is what all true spiritual teachers have taught.

Awakening is why we are here

The great spiritual masters never bothered telling people how to manifest material things because they understood this fundamental truth that all is ONE and this world is illusory. And that the most important thing in life is awakening to our divine nature. Everything else is a sideshow to keep one trapped in pursuing things in a belief that the more one accumulates the better life gets. This is an illusion. Nothing external can satisfy the soul. This type of message is not popular with many spiritual seekers however because they are not truly interested in awakening. Most prefer to be told how they can manifest millions and get their boyfriend back.

Adyashanti, the spiritual teacher said that “new age spirituality teaches you to create or manifest a better you but does not teach you to transcend yourself”. This is true. The ultimate purpose of life is to transcend what we think we are, not cling to it. This is awakening. The goal of awakening is to awaken from this dream not cling to it further.

Don’t get me wrong. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being rich or having your ex-boyfriend back. But none of these things are the goal of life and will never provide lasting fulfillment. Only realizing the truth of who you are will. Clinging to material things is always a hindrance on the spiritual path.

Yet the paradox is that if you seek first to know the truth of who you are, everything else will be naturally added to you without even trying to “manifest them”. That’s the path of non-resistance and detachment. When you stop seeking things, you get them and you also stop caring about them. Jesus said it perfectly, “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you”. He who has ears to hear will understand.

The path of liberation

Once the true self is known, material things become only one more thing we can use in service to truth, and not to drown even deeper into ego identification. Seeing them correctly we are detached from them no matter how much of them we have. This means that whether we have them or not we remain complete and safe in the awareness of who we are. We don’t get our identity from them.

Understanding this truth it is clear why Jesus, the Buddha, and other true masters did not engage in teaching how to get things, but instead pointed to the suffering this craving for materialism causes. True liberation is transcending this world not getting more attached to it. Any true spiritual teacher will point to the truth within as the only path to true liberation.

“If any man would come after me (his higher self/ true nature) let him deny himself (his lower self/ ego-identification), take up his cross daily, and follow me (his Christ nature)”
