2018 Jan 22 to Feb 18- The Moon’s Medicine Wheel journey

In our last post (Mars entering Sagittarius) we talked about the Moon beginning a new Medicine Wheel journey when she entered Aries on Jan 21 (PST) and Jan 22 (EST). I use the Medicine Wheel for the Northern Hemisphere for the Moon’s journey. The Animal Totem guides for each Moon placement are a reflection of that Wheel but I believe regardless of our geographic location we can all resonate. The Medicine Wheel is a Circle of Spirit and a Circle of Healing. Each month when the Moon enters Aries (new beginnings) she begins a new cycle around the Medicine Wheel. This is separate from the New Moon to New Moon cycle but significant in its own right.

The Moon in Aries is about planting seeds of inspired new beginnings (Jan 21/22 to Jan 24 EST) with Falcon, clear inspired vision, and Red Tailed Hawk, spiritual messenger, as our guides. In Taurus she supports us to experience growth regarding what we value (Jan 24 to Jan 26 EST) with Beaver, building the new, guiding us. In Gemini it is the time for our new ideas to flower (Jan 26 to Jan 28 EST) with Deer, sensitivity and love, as our guide. Those dates the Moon was in the East Direction, awakening to the new.

Jan 28 at 1.57 pm EST Sister Moon entered Cancer. This is her home sign and she asks us to focus on being guided by our intuition and emotional wisdom. Our Totem guide is Flicker Woodpecker who supports us through the transitions walking the spiritual path creates. The Moon has just entered the South Direction, the place of curiosity, expansion, and Healing Love.  Her journey through Leo beginning Jan 30 at 1.53 pm EST is very powerful as we have a Total Lunar Eclipse on Jan 31. It is also a Super Moon and the 2^nd Full Moon of Jan so it is also a Blue Moon of Transformation. When Sister Moon visits Leo she is supporting us to be centered in our Compassionate Heart as we relate to others. It is also an excellent time to express our new ideas in creative ways. Our Totem guide is Salmon, courage to achieve our new goals. (We will write more about the Lunar Eclipse in the next two days). On Feb 01 at 2.13 pm EST the Moon enters Virgo her Soul Centered Home. Her Animal totem guide is Brown Bear, healing and The Healer. It is a time for mind, body, and emotional balance so our spirits can guide us.

On Feb 03 at 4.47 pm EST the Moon enters Libra and begins her journey through the West Direction, the place of personal responsibility and discovering our inner power. In Libra she asks us to focus on balance and harmony in all our relating. That includes the relationship to self. While she visits Libra our Animal Totem guides are Crow, sacred law and fairness for all, and Raven, who guides us into the Mysteries. Sister Moon enters Scorpio, the time of deep healing and release, on Feb 05 at 10.56 pm EST. Snake, shedding the old, is our guide. On Feb 08 at 8.53 am EST the Moon enters Sagittarius, focusing on your truth and spiritual vision. Our guides are Elk, strength and stamina, and Owl, the wisdom to see the truth.

When the Moon enters Capricorn on Feb 10 at 9.21 pm EST she is now in the North Direction, the place of stillness, patience, and translating knowledge into wisdom. In Capricorn it is the realignment and revision time. Do the new ideas you visualized at the Aries Moon still resonate? Capricorn on a spiritual level symbolizes our sense of Soul Purpose. While the Moon is here Snow Goose is our guide. She supports us to follow our dreams and vision.  On Feb 13 at 10.11 am EST the Moon enters Aquarius. This is the time to share our ideas and gifts with others. Otter, joyful sharing, is our guide. Pay attention to the messages from the cosmos during this Moon time. We have an Aquarius Solar Eclipse (New Moon) on Feb 15 at 4.05 pm EST that has very positive energies. This Eclipse influences us until July so again be aware and awake to the possibilities. That same day (Feb 15) at 9.42 pm EST the Moon enters Pisces, the time of completion and release. Identify what you do not want to take into the new Medicine Wheel cycle that begins on Feb 18 (7.05 am EST) when the Moon again enters Aries. While she is in Pisces she supports you to connect with your Soul’s Wisdom. When you do that letting go is easy. This is important for the Sun enters Pisces at 12.18 pm EST on Feb 18 and the theme will be healing, forgiveness, completion, and release for this Solar cycle. Our Animal Totem guides for Pisces are Cougar, spiritual power, and Wolf, the teacher who guides us through change.

I have just given you the Moon’s theme and her Totem guides when she visits the Zodiac signs during her Medicine Wheel journey. Of course what we experience will also depend on the planetary interactions during these times. For anyone wishing to explore in depth Llewellyn’s 2018 Daily Planetary Guide is an excellent resource. It lists the daily planetary interactions and which sign the Moon is visiting. The introductory pages show the symbols for the planets and signs so you can learn to read the daily influences.
