The Joy of Life (and Death)

The Joy of Life (and Death)

On the one hand you take life too seriously, and on the other, you do not take playful existence seriously enough. ~ Seth, channeled by Jane Roberts

My spirit guides have often said life should be joyful, every part of it—even the end part, which we call death.

I come from a large Sicilian immigrant family. So we’ve had many funerals over the years. There was one funeral I’ll never forget—my mother’s. There was a funny, joyful side even to her funeral. We all enjoyed a good laugh from that story.

My thoughts about death have evolved over the years. They’ve become more light-hearted, and far less deadly serious (pun intended).

Much of this shift is thanks to our editor and dear friend, Berna Copray. A while back, Berna introduced me to the book series, Life and Teaching of the Masters of the Far East by Baird T. Spalding.

We’d highly recommend these books if you’re interested in a radically, refreshingly different view of life (and death). Various aspects of this “different view” will, almost certainly, seem beyond belief for some of you reading this.

Among the books’ many teachings and inspiring examples of what life and death were surely meant to be are the following. (These are all exact quotations.)

  • There is no natural law of death or decay for man, except through accident.
  • No inevitable old age process exists within (a human’s) body…
  • Death is then, an avoidable accident.
  • Disease is, above all, dis-ease
  • Senile decay, which is the common experience of man, is but an expression that covers his ignorance of cause, certain disease conditions of mind and body.
  • Even accidents are preventable by appropriate mental attitude.
  • Truly divine Love in demonstration is eternal youth.

P.S. We’ve had personal experiences with these teachings. For us, they have added more joy and fun to our lives, and to our now-outdated ideas about death.

In the early 1980s, John took a spiritual development course and was introduced to his first spirit guide, Lydia. After Lydia arrived, three other guides also came to him: Archangel Michael, Tamarra, and Chief Joseph. Today these are John’s four main guides.
Besides his four main ones, John has various other guides. The entire group is really a multidimensional collective consciousness. John refers to the entire group simply as “Spirit.” Source
