12 Leo 34
Wanna get your groove back? Make more of any good vibes you’ve been feeling? You’re gonna like the Leo New Moon. It’s rekindling your spark and inviting you to share it more widely.
The fresh starts and bursts of a new moon blaze in Leo, sign of self-expression and playfulness, of warmth and flair, of the child (calendar-aged, inner and overgrown) of performers and queens (self-appointed as well as royal born). It’s warm, lively territory, often fun and happy, and often entertaining.
All those traits are up for supersizing. Why hold back, when this Moon crackles with opportunities to go bigger? It is sextile Jupiter, amplifying ideas and options and encouraging confident, indulgent and outrageous self-expression.
And that amplification is getting oomph. Mars, planet of push, is closing in on a conjunction with Jupiter (exact August 14) and itself sextile the Moon. The combo is exciting to the max. It has the power of flame accelerant, energizing new moon seeds, starts, intentions and goals, more quickly than you expect and possibly beyond what you can control.
This is the time to take the Jupiterian outpourings you have been experiencing and put them to action – for you. What have you been brainstorming since late May? Have you been envisioning living on a grander scale? (No? Get to it already!) What options have you been entertaining? What have you been juggling?
Just as importantly: How could you bring more fun into your life? More play? More joy? What activities make you feel (more) alive?
You don’t need to permission to pursue any of these; they are yours for the having. Leo energy doesn’t question its right to exist; step into that certainty and let it warm you.
Still hesitant? Unsure? Working with this moon doesn’t have to be an entirely intellectual process. Notice changes in your energy when you contemplate questions like these. What feels exciting? What is “meh”? What is “run awaaaaaaay”?
Have fun with this. Pull out the Ace of Wands from your favorite Tarot deck and use it as an inspirational image. How and where do you feel life force rising? Follow that. Fuel that. (And put the old Sesame Street theme “Somebody Come and Play” on a playlist.)
It’s not selfish to be yourself. It is not selfish to express yourself, dress however makes you happy, bask in attention, and accept compliments and validation. All this is actually part of the point of being alive.
And maybe, just maybe, not sharing yourself is what’s selfish. Or squandering yourself trying to get the attention of people who are ignoring you, or who are trying to extinguish your light. Something to ponder.
This Moon signals that it’s time to shine. It’s time to live large, whatever that means for you. The Moon is trine the North Node in Aries, effortlessly linking self-expression with self-actualized, self-starting destiny. Stepping into who you really are propels you on your chosen path.
There is a caution, though. This Moon does come with a governing influence. The point is not unleashing unfettered toddlers running rampant in adult bodies. The Moon is inconjunct Saturn, planet of adulting, rules, order, responsibility, commitment, all the things that make kids roll their eyes. Adjustments in commitments are necessary. Possibly you’ll rethink and tweak some obligations. Possibly you’ll take responsibility for your spark, safeguard it more, or remove it from influences that would put it out
Whether you work consciously with this New Moon or not, it will reignite your life. The pyros among you will find this a particularly enjoyable time for ceremony. And for all of us: why not customize a prayer candle? Find one in a color you like (although orange would be particularly appropriate) and decorate the glass any way you like – with photos, designs, colors, glitter, whatever symbolizes you. Write your intentions on paper, fold it and place it under the pillar. Then light your fire.
